Coleman has clearly had an impact at dale. Everyone bar Wycombe in m opinion will fight and pick up some good results. If we don't do the same then I dread to think why might happen.

Do we really have that much talent though if you take the blue tinted specs off (which for various reasons never seem to let people view the manager!)Are we really top 10 material? I personally dont feel like there is much quality in the squad.

 

 

Cisak - pretty decent, occasionally error prone

Bouzanis - not seen him play

Diallo - injured

Black - not a good league 1 full back

Mellor - young, steady not spectacular

Diamond - OK, awful distribution

Mvoto - excellent for 85 mins but extremely error prone

Tarkowski - Young impressed so far

Lee - Steady right back, very good player for league 1

Marsh Brown - havent seen enough

Parker - not impressed since back from injury

Morais - can be excellent or non-existant

Furman - very good CM for this level but not most creative

Wesolowski - see Furman

Adeyemi - fades in and out of games

Taylor - Good league 1 player no end product

Simpson - quality for this level

Kuqi - puts in a shift most games but goals have dried up

Smith - not at league 1 level so far

Winchester - young not had much of a chance

Reid - injured

Agree with most of this. Not really a big squad when you look at it like that. Massive hole in it without Wes and Furman as we all know. Think you are being harsh on Diamond. Am I alone in not being too bothered whether our CB's have decent distribution as long as they can head everything and clear their lines? Saying that Diamond has not really done this on a consistent basis. Saturday is huge.

What really amazes me is the number of people who are now convinced Phil is the answer, when he was at best a luxury for away games last week and at worst a waste of a wage.

He has been our best player along with tarky in the last few games.

I'm probably alone here but given the strength of our squad I think we should be comfortably top ten at the end of the season. That was before kuqi's Barron run and injuries to key midfielders. If he can manage top ten dickov will have done a good job. I think we will top the bottom half.

When Latics play badly you see a very small number of players always looking to play the ball consistently. Taylor is one of them - his performance away against Sheffield Wednesday last year being one of the finest performances I can remember. To those sad nobs who think he needs dropping - you are pathetic.

I hear what your saying, but I think even the staunchest Taylor fan would admit that he shouldnt be immune to getting subbed or even starting on the bench for the good of the team.

1. Dickov's seen him in training and obviously doesn't think he's up to scratch.

No one is having a gripe there just trying to establish why we hasn't signed a midfielder who would appear to be on the cheap and who has a decent reputation. I for one are extremely nervous about having to play a midfielder who lets face it for large chunks of most games doesn't get involved and and an out of form player out of position against a good side. We shall see.

It was Adeyemi who crossed for Simpson's goal. Not sure on the penalty my initial thinking was it was Tarkowski but the wenbsite says Mvoto! Should be able to tell the difference really.

Not sure about this. Winchester did well in centre mid for me. There was a game when the opposition went down to 10 think it was fake an he played really well, dropping deep to pick up the ball and get attacks going. I'm also a major fan of mellor and still believe he should of been given more games at lb. His composure on the ball is something We need. can only assume neither do enough in training to get get back in the team.

Very strange comparison isn't it. Either way dickov is very good at talking the players up in public. Tarky deserves a run in the side as he has been tremendous when played.

Great news but not if we only have half the player. Dickov said it wasn't at the back of his mind on Monday. Disagree with this as there were a few occasions when Wes opted not to throw himself in. Understandably so mind!

Really hope we dont lose any games to the cold snap. The long lay off last season didn't help with a our slump. Think we got whipped at hartlepool last seaon after a long lay off. We could end up with a fair few games in hand which will only increase the pressure for points.

Some of the criticism of smith in this thread is totally unjust. If we play to his potential strengths he will be a valuable asset. Give him a string of games. Time for Dickov to show faith in him like he has done with Kuqi.

Well it's all about converting chances. I don't think even the most hardened chesterfield fan would disagree that we controlled both games. I don't disagree we are our own worst enemies.
