From facebook:
"Paul Dickov days he's only got six fit players able to train today, he also adds that he'd love to bring a loan player in, however finances dictate"
Half a squad for the game tomorrow then!
He's probably playing mind games or getting his excuses in early!

Won't be many. I've not bought a ticket, will be purchasing on the day. I reckon 900 will travel.
-
And mine.

Smith needs a chance in a Latics shirt. Him and kuqi could work together if kuqi plays on the shoulder rather than all over the pitch smith will win the flick on alot of the time.
-
No he's not. Simples

Can't believe some people jeered and laughed when they announced their 61.
Just remind me where it was a few years back one wet Tuesday night , may have been colchester but somewhere east of London (afraid my memory is not as good as it was)
There was probably 20 - 30 Latics fans behind the goal on a terible night.
The club announced over the loud speaker if all Latics fans would make there way to the corner flag and they allowed us in the covered stand .
So Latics have took less to an away match.
These 61 deserve a medal to support the team like they did not jeered at.
Not having that. Neither you had, had to much Stella or cant count. I'm led to believe we took 49 to Carlisle in the autoglass once.

I'm not referring to the ones that made the trip well done to them. Just think they should be able to muster 3 figures.
-
Makes me feel better for all the times I have had to listen to the opposition berating us. The lowest I have need involved in would be Bristol city away on talbot 108 and Scunny this season jpt.
-
Agreed. He has amassed a solid squad. Can only assume the pot is completely empty being the reason for a lack of activity in the loan market.
-
You mention that there players could have gone to bigger clubs on bigger money. There has been nothing to suggest that is true apart from a few rumours about mvoto and huddersfield at the start of the season.

Is Dickov a messiah? No
Is Dickov untouchable? No
Does Dickov have areas of his management that he needs to work on? Hell yes
But putting aside the failures of the off field management of the club and purely from a footballing perspective, its a complete no brainer as far as sticking with Dickov is concerned. Whilst he has his weaknesses he also has his strengths. He is liked (and has the respect) of everyone at the club. He has played an instrumental part in persuading the likes of MVoto, Cizak, Simpson, Kuqi to play their football at Boundary Park, which is a credit to the guy considering some of them could have gone to bigger clubs in a higher division for a lot more money.
And who on earth do this mob think could come in and do a better job than the current management team on the current budget, which in all likelihood will probably be slashed again next season?

I hope every single person who ironically cheered and took the piss out of their fans for how many they brought last night, will all be at stevenage.
I ironically cheered and rightly so 61 is pathetic. I'm not going to stevenage either. I've done my bit over the years.
-
We're pretty fooked next season if the budget is cut further.
In a big way. Just hope dickov can work some magic on a shoestring. Our key players will get more money elsewhere that's the problem.

A point is a point.
Wasn't great but for spells we were a decent side, only a matter of time until we scored in the first half, could have done with the second but sadly it didn't come.
Dickov said that if you take Kuqi out of the side the average age is 21, with that you get inexperience and sadly that is what cost us tonight. Winchester in only his second game for a while made a couple of bad decisions when a wiser head would have z row'd it. Poor making from the free kick and 2 points gone.
What we have to do is learn from it, no point slaughtering the kid, would be good for him to be making these mistakes in the reserves but we need him in the first team. Mentally he hasn't quite made the step up to first team football yet, it'll come. Same as Mellor, I've said all along that he isn't a full back but he has a left foot so he has to do there. A couple of times he drifted inside and if it wasn't for Morais good work tracking back and putting in a great shift defensively we'd have been caught out on a few times.
On the other hand, Tarky does not look out of place in the side or at this level, one of the highlights of the last few games, a massive plus for us, get him signed up on a long term contract!
Him and big Jean are starting to develop a partnership, this takes time and despite us missing Diamond's experience at the back I wouldn't break this partnership up at the moment.
Lee had a good game, I'd hate to be a winger coming up against him, he really has got that full back position worked out, gets forward well too, always willing to do so.
Keanu Marsh Brown has quick tricky feet, beats himself as often as he beats the man but he's a bums on seats player. Him on one side and Morais, in this form on the other will get us goals. Keanu should have had a brace tonight, one more pace round the sprawling keeper and he would have done but when a keeper is spreading himself infront of you the target looks very small and the keeper looks very big.
Which brings me to the front 2. Kuqi is one of our best midfielders at the minute, always making himself available for the ball, sadly this is usually just outside our box! He's playing too deep which is costing us up top. Can not fault his work rate but I wish he did more of his work in the other half. Simmo carried on his bad spell from Saturday, just not happening for the lad. Some good set piece deliveries, some bad. Again, work rate is there but just lacking that spark.
Overall, shame about the two points, but we hung on for the one, many a latics side wouldn't have even done that, for such a young side to do that is a massive plus. The conditions were bad, made for pinging it across the deck and when we did that we were bossing it. We also pinged some lovely long range cross field balls and spread the play nicely.
I was surprised by the substitution, not watch Dickov's interview but seen on here that Keanu had taken a knock, I suppose there was too long left on the clock to risk Reid and we are a bit thin on the ground player wise. Mustn't forget our first choice central midfield are both out.
We deserved the three points, on another night we'd have got them.
Great post. Don't agree with the last sentence as I didn't think we did enough second half to warrant the 3

What position should winchester be?
He is playing in his strongest position. He had 3 men on him when he received ball. Still should of dealt with it though. We should flood the midfield in Saturday, but may prove tricky without any players. Col u did it well tonight, they were very narrow. There centre mid were very experienced, Roland's and izzet probably have 800 league games between them.
-
Oh and the robinson shot we should of been punished for.
-
I don't remember it either. I remember a comfortable save front brunt and a save from a tame welsh header made to look better than it needed to be. Cisaks starting position was wrong which meant he had to flinch himself at it. Thought they had a lot of the ball without hurting us too much.
-
Am I online in thinking their wasnt much between the sides? I was a very nervous spectator put it that way.
-
He admits it's a pen. It's cheap in that he didn't need to make the challenge.
-
Reids contract will be up by the time he gets himself In shape.
-
Might have to retract my statement that I thought they would get cut adrift. Done some seriously good business in the loan market. On top of two last week Gary Doherty and Paul Hayes have joined. Great signings. How is Doherty oly 32?!
-
Massive 3 points.
Cisak- assured display on the whole
Lee- solid enough far from his best
Mvoto- solid bar one blip first half
Tarky-MOM after struggling early doors
Mellor- big fan but looked nervous today understandably
Morais- Top performance keep it up
Adeyemi- did well
Winchester- give him a run in the side
Taylor- industrious as per but why does him attacking the winger mean goal kick?
Kuqi- pleased he got his goal but pen was the only way it would come, some fantastic defensive headers but very nearly cost us with wanting to take a touch in our box
Simpson- favourite player, might even call my kid after him but poor today as were his set pieces. Still got an assist.
Kmb- last player I wanted to see come on especially when Morais was defending well and after mk but did well and kept the ball.
Back it up with 3 more on Tuesday and we can go to bramall lane with nothing to lose.
-
Big jean is the man to give the pens away!
-
He won't be playing guaranteed.
Has Parker been assigned to the bin?

He was immense at Scunny. Such a shame as his pace would be a great weapon up front playing on the shoulder.
