  1. For me in an ideal world the following would stay:

    Cisak

    Lee

    Furman

    Weslowski

    Simpson

    Taylor

They are the only first team players that I could see better teams than us wanting in their sides.

Keep all the kids that have come through except maybe Brooke as they would all be on small wages and there is a chance they will blossom or we can move them on in the future.

    Get rid of: (don't re-sign)

Adeyemi - he has changed our entire dynamic (through no fault of his own) for the worst.

Diamond - unless he is on peanuts (used as cover)

Parker - doesn't want to be here

Reid - plenty of players can do what he does.

The rest are decent squad players and I would keep them if there is nothing better available providing they aren't on big money.

Can't disagree with any of that, would keep morais also.

  2. This continuing malaise with not scoring goals leaves us vulnerable time after time to late goals.

In 2012 we have played 19 matches.

7 games - no goal scored

    9 games - 1 goal scored

    2 games - 2 goals scored

    1 game - 3 goals scored

16 out of 19 games 1 goal or less scored , shockingly poor imo.

This is the main problem. Were doing ok defensively, our lack of goals is putting excess pressure on us to keep clean sheets.

  3. It comes down to this for me.

I want every Latics player to succeed. I want every Latics player to improve under the coaching regime at the football club. But over a year in to his Latics career it's fair to ask some questions.

Last season I recall a couple of goals. Late header in a game already won and a smart finish at Notts County when we were already ahead. This season I recall some penalties, a consolation goal at Dale and another goal which slips my mind (EDIT: he put us 2-1 up at Orient).

He's hardly prolific. Even when he's fully fit and appears to be putting everything in to his game. Has he ever scored a decisive goal in a Latics match? I can only think of Orient away. Just one goal in over a year that has actually given us the win.

It's not a witch hunt of any sort. It's a simple question. Is Reuben Reid good enough? I suspect not. It's up to the player to show he is.

(In Reid's defence, our creativity and supply to the strikers often leaves a bit to be desired, but it's up to the strikers to be in the right place at the right time too)

I would be amazed if he is kept on next season.

  4. Furman played for a hour this afternoon and looked in good shape, he wasn't afraid to put in a challenge and used the ball well. It depends what sort of reaction he has after this workout as to whether he will figure in the first team squad for Saturday.

Young centre back Belezika shone again, while Kirk Millar looked lively.

    What score?
