very disappointing and although I’m not backing any knee jerk reactions on the manger front it’s been poor from him for a bit. There is something badly wrong with the squad as this lot constantly let managers down but the signings and corrective measures haven’t been good. The football in general has been woeful recently. He hasn’t managed the dip in form well, we are still inbalanced and it looks like his treatment of a few has had bigger implications.

MM has to try something diff for last 6 games. It’s just not working. I’m not up to date on injuries but green has to play wide right. We need to find someone to play wide left whether that be hope or Walker and can be in a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. We currently play with zero width and we create nothing. Centre mid sheron has to drop because he just can’t pass and he kills our possession when he gets a kick.
-
Front 3 as a unit have zero interplay all day. Midfield not much more. Only wide option all day is kitching coming from left back. No patterns of play, woeful. We are paying enough to go up but when u watch u don’t see a good side at all. Can’t even see playoffs which would be a total failure based on the wage bill

Passing out from back better, midfield putting more than 2 passes together Norwood and Dallas holding it up. Literally everything they haven’t done for most of season.

How shit was Kitching tonight, what's wrong with him? He runs like a 60 year old and just stares at the ball like he has no interest half of the time. Weird his slump in form, he plays like he's after a move.
I thought I’d seen on Twitter/X he’s Reid’s mate and since his suspension he’s dropped off. Not sure if true or not but his form since Xmas has been nowhere near what first half of season was -

Despite the fact that our 'strengths' probably lie mainly in central defence I think they are going to have to go to a back four, we don't have a RWB up to it and Kitching, for all he is better going forward then defending, seems to perform better at LB, would mean either Sutton or going back into market for a RB.
Hope has his limitations but he does at least give you energy and can finish, given that Reid is obviously toast then I think we need to find a place for him.
Gardner, if he is in the squad then you might as well start and if he breaks down then so be it, can't be any worse than Lundstram and Sheron.
Dallas, early days but you can see why Barnsley quickly had second thoughts about him...
hard not to agree after watching that. 3 in the middle and they can’t pass it more than twice between them all game so they may as well go 2.id drop sheron and lundstrom and get 2 from Gardner Conlon and the loanee in there. Weak as but gets two who I think are our major issue atm out the team.

The bizarre thing about this league is that everyone else from 2nd to 9th (our current play off rivals) look just as capable of shocking results. So I still see us as having as good a chance as any of those clubs of going up.
new could but in general play we are usually second best. We just don’t look a good team for the league when u watch us.. hard to see us delivering in any game really- 1

The midfield and wing backs need to give their wages back for that. Utterly appalling display. No movement no pattern on play no second balls. Lundstrom looks like an ex kidsgrove player and sheron dear god. Mellon also had a bad day at office, what are they doing in training, surely he can see they aren’t getting behind teams or playing through midfield or getting crosses in. Green comes on and they get the ball to him once all second half. Not a chance this lot are going up

Agreed, apart from:
Sachdev - Think he's alright.
Also hard disagree on Hobson. How else is the ball supposed to get to the embarrassment of riches up front, unless he goes long?? It certainly won't be through the midfield. The Norwood fan-boys won't agree, but Hobson's probably been our best player this season..
He does go long a lot but have to ask if he has other options. The midfield is so poor there is rarely options, no one drives forward, passing and control of game non existent. Until that’s sorted and we can boss games and possession we will continue to see these performances. Hobson defensively good. Sheron and lundstrom not good enough for me. Signings now starting to look unbalanced and it’s looking messy and disjointed again which isn’t good. A lot to work on for sure -
How’s win you games but I’m shocked we’ve gone for him. Loads of experience in Norwood. Stones showed we need someone with high energy up top. Still feel we need more in centre midfield to replace sheron and lundstorm who are av at best

Not too bad. They missed a couple of chances and gifted us a pen. Conlon and right back improved us but still plenty of room to improve. Already better than these with the squad we have

He's got to be the biggest disappointment this season, he's so negative as well he's also forgotten which way we are attacking. Poor player at the minute, absolute passenger.
Agree been v av considering I think he did a season in league 1 at Crewe. Certainly not that level. Gardner on for him now so MM obv not happy either -
What was the attendance today??

Is Dickenson injured or bombed out?
no idea tbh. Would imagine injured or we’d have heard something and if fit he’d make the bench -

We must be the only club who have some fans that aren’t into winning.
Micky’s record in the league.
Played 11
Won 7
Drawn 2
Lost 2
23 points from 33.
But it’s utter utter garbage.
really good return with a poor team. Full confidence in the manager atm. Still don’t think current squad have it in them to go up with this manager. mcgahey, freeman, Willoughby, Reid, Shelton, green, nuttall can all go. Think we need to make sure hogan, sheron, lundstrom, ward, Dickerson are squad players and not reg starters. -
A bigger rebuild than I thought needed. No matter what formation we play today or tactics we should be the better team. We weren’t. Midfield especially lacking, they can’t control a game or dominate even pt teams as not good enough. Passing and movement off ball as usual absolutely dire. All need replacing

Our penalty shootout record is amazing
Isn’t it just. Are we like 9-1 now or something like that

Absolutely.
But the fans' expectation isn't going to change whether it's Barnet away or Ebbsfleet at home, so why does the players'? They're mentally strong for the "tough" games, but can't bring that mentality to the games they're expected to win. It's a type of mental weakness, but it's possibly not the pressure they can't cope with, more the ability to raise their game for lesser teams...
nothing to do with raising game. The weaker teams we have to take game to them and play and we haven’t got the players for that in midfield so we look shite. When oppo has all the ball and we play on break it suits us much better. -

It's a very small sample size but in the 8 games (including the FA cup game against Newport) Mellon has taken charge our home and away form seems in contrast
Home P3 W0 D2 L1
Away P5 W3 D0 L2
Are we more comfortable playing away from home? I suppose some will look at that and say that the expectation of the Boundary Park crowd weighs heavy on the shoulders, and its fair point.
However I do feel that the squad we have is more suited to playing a style of sitting back and counter attacking rather than taking the game to the opposition. I think we need to find a way to win games at home when the onus is on us to take control of the game like yesterday. I do believe we need a magic man/codebreaker type in the mold of Jose Baxter/Jack Byrne/ or even Harry Vaughan who could unlock a defense in a game like that get us ahead in the game and then we will be less likely to get counter attacked like yesterday.
The stats back up what we can all see. Away when we play on break and don’t have to pass or create and can dink balls forward we are ok. At home when we need to pass and create we can’t. Our midfield is terrible, yesterday the movement was non existent. They can’t pass it about so we can’t pin teams in as we loose it. Front two also culpable as hold up play is dead. The number of times freeman or mcgahey had no options to pass to was a joke and when they did we got one pass at best more before we lost it. All 4 in the middle need replacing, bar possibly Gardner and when we do sort that out we’ll control games and win more often at home. As for now we’ll be best sitting back and playing on break.- 4

Huge improvements in a month. We have some good players for the league when they are coached properly. Bar chesterfield literally nowt in this league.
ebsfleet will be absolutely shite but we won’t be able to play on break. Will need a lot more from the midfield Sat which is still a worry. Gardner looking good. Lindstrom not so sure about. But good signs looking forward to sat now

Freeman isn't the answer at rightback, he doesn't even look arsed half the time, is he better than Sutton, it's debatable. For an experienced pro that was schoolboy defending.
Refs a cunt though, they should be a man down and haven't even got a keeper on the bench.
you’ve obviously wiped from ur memory the horror of Sutton at right back. Freeman not great but a 100% improvement on Sutton- 4

Pathetic defending that.
Dire no need at all to touch him from behind there. And he’s super experienced as well. Poor that

Lucky to be winning but a good half from us. Haven’t made best use of the half chances at all. They lucky to have 11 on pitch. Fondop has played well. We’ve got a good bench so needs to be used well for last 20

agree with all the points bar sacking. It’s so counter productive mid season. If they do change direction with I don’t think they should it has to be end of this season.
we are paying the money and it’s MM job to deliver. He needs a full off season the reassemble and push on. I think the most dissapointing thing though is he hasn’t managed to create a style of play or identity or get them to pass it and play like a top side for the division. and therefore u start to really think if he’s up to it
