  1. Happy Christmas gentlemen - and ladies. Nollaig shona.

I look forward to being with you in Boundary Park in the new year.

Looking into a March trip this time. Even if I head over on my own I can’t wait - I know it takes a lot (including cash) to attend BP regularly and I respect those who do and those who travel to the away games. Ultimately we do it for our love of the club.

And I love Latics. And so does my young son (god help him) and his baby brother will too.

    I digress...

Happy Christmas. I’m proud to count myself among you.

  2. We got him on a free transfer. So that side of things won't have cost us a penny.

He was on circa 800 euro a week where he was - so we'll presumably be paying him a bit more than that.

As an aside, we can now get working on a "hey, McEleney" chant to the tune of "hey, macarena"...

  3. Maybe on opening day the club could have a few people there to take notes and suggestions from the supporters there. If people start seeing improvements every week they go there for a pint - some which they may have suggested - then it can really develop into something great.

And my first suggestion would be to name it ‘Gordy’s’

  4. It’d be great to get the bar off to a good start... make it a real OAFC HQ.

And maybe name it after a Latics legend, big Gordy perhaps?

it wouldn’t take much to help create the atmosphere in it - old photos, flags on the wall, jerseys etc - like one of every jersey going back as far as possible. I’ve many I’d happily donate.

Then as long as it is reasonably comfortable and welcoming it could be great.

  5. Jack Byrne in Irish edition of Sunday Times today: “I want to keep playing football so it could come down to whether the two clubs can reach agreement. Or somebody else could come in or Wigan could want me back, I don’t know. Nobody from Wigan has spoken to me, so until I get that call I can’t comment”.

Not exactly an owtb/world exclusive I admit - but I thought I’d post it anyway.

Martin O' Neill seems to for some reason.

I think the main reason Martin took Roy on board was to deflect attention from himself - something that has backfired a bit on a few occasions... plus they are mates, and Roy needed to be in someone’s shadow to rebuild his reputation after some of his own managerial bloopers.

As it happens, Jewell was once strongly linked with the Republic of Ireland job...

Funny how managerial stock rises and falls.

Those dodgy pics probably didn’t help!
