Get Alfie in.
Exactly. Even though he’s young he’s physically up to it, certainly got a better physique than Hammond.
should certainly be ahead of Walker on the bench as a minimum.

He’s just not got the physical strength of a man yet so won’t be able to do that yet. He’s already looked a far better option than Ward, Lundstram and the massively overrated (in all his time here) Gardner.
So Gardner when he was alongside Fane and Byrne was overrated…yeah ok

If anyone has listened to Dean Holden episode of I had Trials Once, he mentions the need for Oldham to get promoted back to the football league this season otherwise the academy is downgraded in some way (his lad is in the academy).

What was the opinion of the youth team watchers of Kofi Moore? His brief foray into the first team squad was very brief indeed but presumably the staff thought he was the most promising of the group at the time?
He’s doing very well at Guiseley where he and an ex-Avro player Michael Afuye on loan from
Rochdale are tearing it up down the wings

Jordan Lyden is at Hereford now.
Luke Burgess at Southport with Danny Philliskirk there on loan too.
Southport are away to Ben Tollitt’s Chester and Peter Clarke’s Warrington Town in the next couple of months.
Dean Furman is caretaker at Warrington Rylands.
Callum Dolan has actually been catching at Fleetwood in the last few months.

Deal.
Although the last person I organised to meet during the Ashes was Dave S. (RIP). That didn't end the way we both wanted it to.
I think the Gabba is being re-developed for the Olympics, so the SCG or MCG it is.
Well that’s a bit ominous isn’t it @L1onheartNew
@Monty Burns I landed in Sydney a month ago. Doubt I’ll be here come 2025 though as rent is extortionate and we want to buy. Could well be in Adelaide (where I’ll try and ask Ryan Tunnicliffe if he was ever close to signing for us)

I will agree with you on Thomo when he spots that Shelton is not ready to play. Twice now when he replaced Gardner, we have looked poor again in the middle. When Thomo drops Shelton, I will feel better about him carrying on managing us.
See where you’re coming from and agree.
Think you won’t see him on the pitch again though assuming Lundstram plays at the weekend

So refreshing that, wasn't it? Good thing is, we have miles more than that in the tank. It wasn't a vintage performance, by any stretch. Tons to work on, mostly in midfield. It harks back to last season; we only have Shelton, in that midfield four who's a ball-winner. The shift he put in was outrageous and was my MOM. There were a few contenders though.
The Latics socials said it was Green that pulled the ball back for Nuttall's goal but I was convinced it was Willoghyby. Either way, the chasing of a lost cause set all that up and Nuttall's brushing off of the defender was classic centre forward play. He took his goal so well. Reid is a breath of fresh air coming on like that. Looked desperate for a goal and got what his performance deserved, albeit a cameo.
If we get someone with Sheron who can tackle and control a match from midfield, it'll be the missing cog. As decent as York were, there are teams far better equipped than them to boss the midfield and on another day, we'll get overran us in midfield. Not far off a team that can go right up this division though.
Wait until you see Lundstram if you’re getting excited about Sheron. Lundstram is a proper player on another level

We're all frustrated to put it mildly but there's no need for that. For a start Frank's been clear and consistent from the minute he walked in the door that he's entrusting others with these matters. He's the figurehead and financier and whilst he could of course pull rank it's still not quite so bad that he should abandon his model and do so.
Darren though should certainly be tabling the notion that it's time to cut our losses. We're losing ground fast and deservedly so.
Even if Unsworth has another purple patch, the knives will quickly be out again once it fizzles out (which you have to think it will given his body of work). Unsworth has rightly highlighted the need to stick together but unfortunately that now looks beyond him, short of an extraordinary turnaround.
I do appreciate what Frank has done but old people have a penchant for being stubborn to their own detriment.
He said at Gateshead that we are supporters and therefore need to support. This is fine for the core 4,000 who turned up week in week out in League 1 and 2 and those of us in our late 30s 40s and 50s but the future of this club is children and teenagers and like it or not the world today does not work on blind loyalty, there’s too much choice in life. The product needs to be enough to entice the young ones back week in week.
I started going in 1999 when I was 14 so have only ever known failure but I do know I enjoyed the high scoring games a hell of a lot more than the 0-0’s and 1-0’s.

This is really boring Dad, can we go.
Stick this on a placard and hold it up to Frank at the next match, he might get the idea then the stubborn old goat

Yet he was head and shoulders our best midfielder, stick a couple more in there who can pass a ball and he'll do just fine at this level.
It’s a shame Gardner has had such serious injuries but he’s a better career than Shelton or Sheron will ever have.
When he was at Droylsden and Halifax he was unplayable off the left, aggressive and dynamic.
His game has completely changed from what it was but it’s had to

Who said he wasn't the type of player for us. You recommended him. We didn't sign him. Nobody has said he wasn't right for us. Dickenson is a good player, massive injury last season so building fitness, as is Freeman. Give it a rest with the stuff about players you've recommended etc. We all remember Cameron Burgess. He was gash for us
It is a fact. Shelton, Reid x 2 chances, one an open goal, other a poor strike when clean through although on an angle. Willoughby blasted 2 over
Cameron Burgess is playing week in week out for Ipswich at the top of the championship and also keeping George Edmundson out of the starting XI.
We went in for Berry last season and he turned us down because of our style of football and Unsworth’s shite reputation in the game. That’s straight from the current Macclesfield managers mouth by the way.

Only two teams lost fewer games than Boreham wood last season guess who? Genius!! Wrexham and Notts . Oh and guess what we got f all there last year . So thats improvement if you are anybody else but Dave Unsworth. Some people need to go and support tippy tappy city.
So that’s 2 people from Penrhyn Bay who are a pain in my arse, you and the mother in law!

I expect that, given the quality and money spent on our squad, that even with Unsworth we will finish in the playoff positions, but I think a good manager could have us with the title in the bag by Easter...
This a thousand times over.
Unsworth has under achieved the whole time he’s been here and will continue to underachieve.

Yeah, Colclough really tore us apart on Sat didn't he? Berry only made the bench and never got on.
You gonna have to try harder than this rubbish.
Conn Clarke ripped us a new one last season and will do this season.
Colclough is the best player in the league but for some reason they’ve moved him from left wing.

So was there any truth in the Tunnicliffe rumour ?
Given we offered Norwood more money than he was on at Barnsley I’d suspect we need to offload a few first

The bloke in Frank’s face is a mate of Top Off’s. Should be easy enough to name and shame

Tunnicliffe doesn’t look very defensive in these highlights from last season

As long as we start winning I couldn’t give a shite!!
Which I understand, I just don’t think he’s capable of taking us from League 2 to League 1 should we ever get back into the football league.
Nothing feels planned with him, he flits from one thing to the next hoping to get lucky. It’s not indicative of long term success

Do we really need another defensive midfielder? Unless DU is planning to play 5 at the back with 3 sat in front at Chesterfield.
Quote from the net;
'Tunniclife is comfortable playing in a role that sees him just in front of the defence'.
He gets all over the pitch as does Lundstram. Add Ward and that’s some midfield 3 who could retain possession until the cows come home.
You could then tell Kitching and Freeman to bomb on more than they do now, play 3 strikers and play high up the pitch as a team.
The only way it falls down is when the ball goes to Hogan who only passes sideways and you’re then reliant on Raglan passing into the midfielders - you don’t want the full backs having to come close to the centre half’s as that means they’re then too deep. You want them receiving the ball high up the pitch from the midfielders and wide and the 3 strikers all moving off the ball.
Et voila
MATCH: Chesterfield (H) 16/03/24

Sounds like Ousmane Fane, except he’s not a patch on Fane
