  1. I'm struggling to think of another club so bothered by every media article written about them. Keegan/Chambers are surely just doing their jobs, why do the club feel like they have to rise to everything? I'd have thought the fact that the article was in the Daily Mail reduces its credibility anyway.

The only party that has come across badly in this is the club.

  2. Latest Post Match Verdict is now up. I've also looked at whether the free ticket offer will pay off in the long term.

I've also started a matchday blog with player ratings. That'll be on the Trust Oldham website, and I'd imagine Jorvik will be putting that up soon. As ever feedback is welcome, especially with the new blog - I don't want to be repeating myself!

(There's no Post-Match Verdict or Trust Oldham blog for the Bradford game as I'm away, but it'll be back for the Coventry game.)

  3. I don't get the love for Erwin. He's a big striker, so why does he always feel the need to piss about on the wing to get the ball. Stick in the middle and let Ladapo and the wingers do the chasing, because when there's a rare opportunity to cross Erwin's nowhere near the box. He's obviously got talent, but he thinks he's a 5"10 playmaker, and it's not working.

Ladapo was :censored:e yesterday, but he was left in the middle with long balls hoofed up to him. He was never going to win any of them, and as soon as they play a ball to his feet, he ran at the defence and tested the keeper. If it's Robinson's tactics, or Erwin's lack of discipline to stay upfront, then either way the manager needs to sort it out.

  4. Thought dummigan was shocking to be honest. Always getting skinned off their winger and although he supported the attacks, didn't really create much or look to get a cross in. Shows how fans opinions can differ enormously.

Really hope Wilson starts tomorrow. Need to be a hell of a lot more solid at back if we're to get a positive result.

With Law, Wilson and Dummigan we've got a good selection of RB's, but if we're playing without wingers Dummigan offers more width than the other two.

Maybe the answer could be to push Dummigan forward with Wilson/Law behind?

  5. We just accept now that anyone half-decent in our team won't be there for long. If we ever get the attendance side of things sorted, we might be able to hold on to them for a bit longer. Mind you, the greatest bit of business by any club ever is when you lot got half a million for Trotman.

Are your attendances likely to improve though? It's the best period in their history, they're playing Bury, Bolton and Latics in League One, yet they still only get 3000 fans every week. It's not a criticism - we can hardly talk - but surely if you were going to get more through the gate it would have started to increase by now?

It shows how impressive Dale's ability to consistently build a competitive squad is, and it's what we should be trying to replicate before trying to move forward.

  6. Ignore the bigots, Dog. It's nice to see Rochdale doing OK. Its just not so nice seeing them doing so much better than us a club.

Agree, it's annoying to see a well run club down the road when we keep doing everything on the cheap.

Still, a win on Saturday and we'll forget the problems for a bit.

  7.

Best scorer of spectacular goals: David Eyres and Lee Richardson but not far behind both Danny Whittaker (No seriously go back and watch his goals for us they were always absolute peaches)

Reuben Hazell - just for his volley at Elland Road. One of the best goals I've seen us score, mainly because it came out of the blue in so many ways.

Along the same lines of Danny Whitaker, I'd add James Dayton and Cristian Montano to the spectacular goals contenders (Dayton vs Swindon/Carlisle and Montano vs Stevange/Rotherham). Robbie Simpson and Gary MacDonald also spring to mind for obvious reasons, but both came up with a few screamers in the league as well as the cup. Mark Allott is worth a shout too, especially for his volley at Huddersfield.

  8. Hello OAFC-LATICS, Trust Oldham have been looking for a match day blogger for stories to go on the trust site.

Would you consider your good work being posted on this site too? It's another media outlet to get your good work out there. No costs involved

Just let me know if you could be interested

    Thanks

I've sent you a PM, but yes I'd be interested.

  9. For the last two weeks, I've been writing a post-match verdict of our home games with the help of an opposition fan. I've had a good response so far, so I'm planning to continue the feature for each home game, and I'll post them here each week too.

My report of the Swindon defeat can be found here: https://joeoafc.wordpress.com/2016/09/24/oldham-0-2-swindon-the-post-match-verdict/

Yesterday's MK Dons report can be found here: https://joeoafc.wordpress.com/2016/10/02/oldham-0-2-mk-dons-the-post-match-verdict/

Hopefully I can start writing about something other than a lacklustre 0-2 defeat soon, otherwise the reports will become quite similar and depressing!

Feedback welcomed, especially any ways I can improve!

  10. So what if it's entrapment? Why should they be defended because they didn't know they were being filmed? They were willing to do these deals, so they should accept getting caught (unlike Allardyce's 'entrapment has won' comments which suggests he's only sorry that he's been caught),

I didn't see anyone trying to defend Cristian Montano when he was caught in exactly the same circumstances.
