Anyone questioning his ability obviously didn't go to Blackburn at home last season or any other game for that matter

It’s not so much his ability, it’s more his attitude. You need both really but he can’t seem to see it. I’ve said it before, he needs to grow up quickly if he really wants to be a professional footballer otherwise before he knows it he will be looked on as ‘not worth the hassle’ and he’ll end up back in Ireland.

There is no way Byrne will play for us again, they need to shift his wage and the threat of him playing and getting an injury now will only scupper any chance we have of getting rid of him.

Would have been good to still have him in midfield in this shite league we now find ourselves in but his wage could bring in 2 more loans.

My bet is he will be a player in Holland in just a few days.

You don’t have to be playing to get injured. You can get injured in training, ask Fané.

Anyway the sooner Byrne goes the better for all concerned. He needs to get his career back on track if he can do, and he’s probably got some growing up to do if he’s serious about being a professional footballer. Could do worse than have a look at his mate Kean Bryan and watch how he conducts himself. He’s moving onwards and upwards, whereas Byrne is stalling and possibly going downwards.

He's a promising talent, but he isn't our best player (Baxter is a much better footballer), and he has been a dick throughout his brief career. He wasn't even that good in the final third of the season. Infact, he was crap at times. Another one who didn't step up to the plate. Ideally, he'd grow up and stay, but as it stands i'd actually be relieved he just pissed off. This is becoming a pain. As Frankie said, the club has/is clearing the decks and is building anew. Quite right. If Byrne doesn't grow up fast, he'll never fulfil his potential.

Spot on. Can see him ending up back in Ireland if he doesn’t knuckle down.

Is he a top class dickhead coz he shouted at Wellens a few times?

Coz I thought Wellens was a first class dickhead for the way he handled Byrne.

Sad to see a decent players career take a further knock coz of a totally inept manager. But that’s football.

Don’t really understand what you are saying. He’s been suspended under FB’s management. Is it never Byrne's fault?

Sounds like lies to me. Youth team players say he trains very hard and is great to be around.

Lies? He’s been suspended! That decision won’t have been taken lightly. He’s arguably one of Latics’ best assets. He would be in the team if he wasn’t suspended. The guy must be an idiot. I’d love to know why Blackburn cut short his season long loan and why Wigan got rid of him so quickly. I’ve said it before, there’s a common denominator in all of this, and it’s Jack Byrne. He needs to take a good look at himself.

I don’t care. Footballers often are.

He’s got to fit in with the rest of the team though and what the manager wants. It’s about standards both on and off the field and he just can’t seem to grasp that. He’s his own worst enemy but it will be his career that suffers.

I know people who know Byrne.  They speak highly of him.

I think like in real life outside football (where there is often no one reason for most things that happen)  he can be arrogant and childish at times, but also believe he has done nothing to apologise for.

He’s still a young man. Talent might outweigh maturity in some circumstances.

Ultimately  I don’t think the club has done itself any favours in how this situation is being managed.

I think the “nobody is bigger than the club” is an easy line to throw out when there is a player to stitch up.

Very easy for a club to let the “bad egg” line run too.

There is a shit situation here and the club is trying to take the moral high ground. And I don’t believe the club on this one.

    That ‘s a real shame

    #fleejackbyrne

Let’s not forget though that in 2016 he joined Blackburn on a season long loan. Blackburn cancelled it in Jan 2017 and sent him back to City.

He then joined Wigan on a 3 and half year deal. He lasted 12 months before they sold him to us, and part of that was spent on loan with us.

Its been reported that his attitude was poor at both those clubs hence is short times there, and now he finds himself suspended here.

The club obviously feel he has stepped out of line enough to warrant suspending him. They know all about his talent, and at his best he’s very good, but to be honest we saw very little of his best post January.

Its up to Jack what he makes of his career, he’s got some very good attributes, but he really needs to grow up and grow up quickly otherwise he might be viewed as someone to avoid, and he will probably end up back in Ireland.

Change your attitude and knuckle down Jack. It’s up to you ultimately.

Has anybody got verified proof of what has gone on and why he's suspended?

Because 5 pages in and I'm still reading guesswork!!!

    So far, we've had:

     - he doesn't want to play in this division.

     - he doesn't like FB's training regime.

     - he lashed out deliberately at Fane and refuses to apologise.

     - he accidently broke Fane's leg and refuses to apologise.

     - he wants to play but FB or AL don't want him in the squad.

    WTF is going on???

I think the more likely scenario is that he’s breached club discipline, he wants to play but he can’t bring himself to apologise, thereby causing an impasse. If that’s the case then it’s him who needs to back down because I can’t see the management team doing.

I suppose the verdict on that situation would depend on whether he is refusing because he is arrogant and childish or whether he really believes he has done nothing to apologise for.

For the management team to see fit to suspend one of our so called better players then I would suggest it’s the former.

We don’t know the full story as to why Jack Byrne is currently banished to train with the youth squad and unavailable to play for the first team. We are told that he is being isolated for the foreseeable future for breaching club discipline.

Whatever he has done is deemed serious enough by the club hierarchy to merit the measures being taken.

We also don’t know what Jack’s stance is on this - does he believe that he has done wrong? If so then surely he should apologise and look to build bridges. If he does not believe he has done wrong then why would he apologise?

Although I agree that incidents like this should be dealt with internally, the lack of clarity inevitably leads to conjecture and rumour. We have a very good player (when on form) left to languish in the youth setup with no resolution forthcoming.

We have had a ‘statement’ and Frankie Bunn breaking his silence but frankly it is not good enough. Sort it please.

IF - and I accept that’s it’s only if. But if the player is so arrogant to think that he shouldn’t need to apologise to whoever he’s upset, be it the management team, his teammates, or Fane (if he was responsible for the injury), then it really does put FB and AL in an awkward position. Do they back down and let him back into the first team set up? If they do that though what sort of a message does that give to the rest of the squad and the younger players? Is one man bigger than the rest of them just because he thinks he’s a superstar?

Its all conjecture of course because we don’t know the whole story.

Just for the record I’d love to see Byrne back in the team if he can reproduce the form he had pre-Christmas. After January though I didn’t think he was very good.

Its he who needs to fit in with the club ethos though, not the other way around.

Dont forget its not the first time that he’s encountered problems at a club. Is it ALWAYS somebody else’s fault?

    Who said he has to?

It’s only a rumour of course but from what I’ve heard he’s refused to even issue a private apology never mind a public one.

A lesson in how not to impress your new manager. If that’s the case he’s put the club and the management team in a very awkward position. What are they supposed to do with him? It’s up to him to toe the line.

We've last won away from home at the beginning of march against Scunthorpe our only away win of 2018 and one of only 4 wins in 2018 as a whole.

What do we do when we win Ive forgotten what it feels like.

Portsmouth away for me. Best performance I’ve seen from a Latics team for ages. Byrne, Gardner, Fane, Davies and Doyle all first class on the day. Played Pompey off the pitch.

To be honest I thought he had explained that Clarke was injured in his ifollow interview part 2.

Probably me being picky, it just seems that nothing is explained fully and the fans are kept in the dark. It’s not just FB, it’s being going on for years now. Donkeys years ago if we had to sell one of our better players at least the fans could be placated somewhat by seeing that at least we got £x amount for him. Nowadays it’s almost always an undisclosed fee. Why? I don’t get it. There’s nothing for the fans to get excited about. AL talks about the supporters being important to the club. FB has said the right things regarding the support, but by and large the fans seem to be treated like mushrooms. Kept in the dark and fed sh*t.
