  1. Really enjoyed tonight.

I even joined the Trust! ?

I thought FB and AR came across very well. AR in particular has a very infectious and enthusiastic personality.

Let’s hope they can get the team - and the club - moving in the right direction.

If it’s down to hard work then I’m confident that we will have a good season, hopefully culminating in promotion at the first attempt.

As i have said, i was one of staunchest defenders  (erroneously) but anyone who hadnt reached the point of wanting him out needs a fucking lobotomy

** Sorry for the grammar my phone is in for repair and im using the shitest tablet in history

You got what you wished for. Our first direction has been downwards. Let’s hope things improve this season.

The items highlighted are reportedly only happened once. In the case of Fane because he went squealing to the French press. IIRC he also slagged of some of his team mates.

I believe these were exaggerated by the Wellens clique. To distract from their own contribution to our relegation.  I may be wrong of course. Happy if evidence proves otherwise.

AL does not get a free pass. Players should not be paid late, but there are rumours that there was agreement Corney may fund some players, AL the ones he bought in. Although that should have been sorted.

    We'll know soon enough.

I agree, we’ll know soon enough. This is probably the most important season in the clubs history.

If you didn’t want Corney out you’re an idiot.

If you go on a website and admit you don’t know what you are talking about and then try and use that as a reason for not wanting Corney out, then you are a complete idiot.

Whoa! Strong words against somebody expressing an opinion. Or is an opinion only allowed if it fits in with your ideas??

If you are happy with relegation and an owner that seemingly wants to play ‘football manager’, then you too are an idiot.

I’m prepared to wait and see, and time will tell I suppose. Not got off to the best of starts though, and like I said, sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.

No doubt you’ll still be saying that you’re glad Corney’s gone even if we are lining up in the National League next season.

Can you imagine if the premier league fans boiled their own piss every time a player not from chadderton was signed??

you all wanted Corney out... you got it and yet beat the new guy with every fucking stick you can find

Not EVERYONE wanted Corney out. I’d be the first to admit that I know very little about the stadium wrangling, Brassbank et al, and I can understand people being totally brassed off - pardon the pun - with Corney.

Sometimes though you have to be careful what you wish for. Corney for all his faults did manage to keep us in the League 1 for 20 odd seasons, then as soon as the club changes hands we go down.

What with AL obviously bringing in his own players whether the manager wants them or not, calling meetings and reportedly humiliating players at said meetings, going into the dressing room at half time and no doubt doing the same.

All these things add to the unrest at the club and do the manager(s) no favours whatsoever.

I hope it isn’t the case, but we might have jumped out of the frying pan into the fire. Time will tell.

I know that a lot of people on here will say that they are just happy that Corney has gone. I’ll only be happy if AL improves the clubs league position, but he MUST learn to stay away from meddling with the first team and he needs to let the manager(s) do their job.

It's a resonable perspective to have.

But without any knowledge or even debatable suspicions as to the extent of any financial or structural anomalies AL is under it would be fair to ask 'whats the point' of a press and social media outburst.

AL may have been misled or badly advised. He may be totally out of his depth or cronically underfunded - who  knows. Can anyone help after this disclosure? Does it benefit the club in 'any way'?

We, as supporters, have suffered years of bad luck and poor executive management decisions. We are not alone, at any level. Nor have we had the most serious setbacks.

The press and social media are awash with disaffected people giving a one sided view, often with far more tangible facts than Craig Davies has given. One common denominator usually applies though - they are no longer on the payroll.

Self preservation is a natural trait in us all. As is 'don't rock the boat while you're being paid'.

The club could be on its way to hell in a handcart. Craig Davies as thrown us a line or given us a push. You choose.

Personally I think he’s telling the fans how it was at the club, probably more so since Corney left. Anthony Gerrard has hinted at things previously with his somewhat cryptic tweets but when pressed for more he hasn’t said anything, obviously because he’s on the payroll and would probably be in big trouble if he did.

Davies has now left the club so is free to speak. I’m not saying that he’s totally blameless in all of this. He did seem to down tools after the January window, and that was unprofessional and damaging to the team, but I can’t see any reason why he would lie about the going’s on towards the end of the season, and if the new owner is going to run the club like that it is a recipe for disaster and will cause ill feeling and discontent throughout the club.

    a) My point re Clarke is his long career, included Bury who were in trouble, but not at 17 clubs

b.) Hasn't stopped Courtney Duffus supporting him.

    c) He hasn't told us anything new.

He also said "calling players into the office criticising other player and calling a meeting to in front of other players"

A professional footballer, an the banter that they get up said that?

    Poor freckle.

They were paid late, some ahead of others, and that's unacceptable. But that is all it is. The rest is just self serving as her didn't get his move.

4 payments by Corney, 6 b Lemsagam. How many were late for each.

You don’t know that it’s self serving. I would imagine quite a few other players at the club would say very similar things if they were allowed to.

As for him having 17 previous clubs, it probably puts him in a better position than most to be able to gauge when a club - or an owner - is running things badly.

We will have to see what AL is like in the future but it certainly sounds like he had a destabilising effect on the squad in the final few weeks of the season, and if Craig Davies is telling the truth - and I have no reason to disbelieve him - then the owner had a disastrous effect on team morale in the week leading up to the vitally important last match of the season at Northampton.

Whilst AL undoubtedly would have had best intentions he was definitely misguided and it backfired badly. I hope he’s leant his lesson on that score. Leave the management and performance of the team to the manager of the football club.

    Stop meddling!!

    No axe to grind?

    Six month sulk? You sure?

I'd put a huge amount more credence if someone like Peter Clarke said it.

We're in the shit, undeniably, but there are so many issues.

Who knows if AL can sort them.

But we need proper investigations not rehashing old news.

If you read what I wrote I said that he didn’t have an axe to grind with anyone except the new owner. Not with anyone else at the club, just as he’s indicated in his tweet.

Peter Clarke wouldn’t be able to say anything because he’s a player under contract and if he did I’m guessing he would be shown the door pretty quickly.

Davies is able to tell us what’s been happening only because he’s left.

Whatever he's said and wherever he's said it, his intentions are to demoralise as many people as possible in an act pique. He will almost certainly now feel smugly better in himself.

It is not a 'heads up' as to what is going on. Unless Lemsagam is doing something illegal nothing can be done to change his direction of how he runs the club, other than his own self preservational instinct. Namely, learning from his mistakes.

Many wanted Corney out at any cost and many more (including me) were ready for a change.

Not a single one of us had a clue of who or why someone would want to invest in our club.

It is a long time since someone was running our club out of love and long term affection - like a fan. Some clubs are lucky or fortunate in this respect. Good luck to them.

We have Mr Lemsagam who is now going too oversee our first season in 'L2' for 40 year's or so.

With no other option we should wait to see how it goes.

Or maybe Craig Davies can cheer us up, now he has done wonders for his own emotions.

Couldn’t disagree with you more! He’s not saying it to demoralise anyone. He’s telling it how it is.

He obviously got on well with a lot of the players and staff at the club and has no axe to grind with anyone except the current owner. He’s merely saying things that he would never have been able to say if he’d still been at the club.

It doesn’t bode well for the club if AL is going to run it like that. ?

Nah, sorry but Wellens version doesn't include his many shortcomings.

I will agree that Lemsagam strikes me as rather dodge but i feel your assessment of Bunn and Rhodes as " two very questionable individuals" is well wide of the mark!

They must have over 70 years experience of playing and coaching between them and without checking, i would dare to say all at a higher level than we are now.

Did either of them play at a higher level than Wellens?? It counts for nothing.

And if Lemsagam tells them what to do or puts pressure on them to pick certain players it will be interesting to see if they are strong enough to say no. Not easy to do when it’s your employer making the suggestions to you.

He'll do ok for a while if his job involves identifying players who are clearly very good at the level and he has a chairman willing to sign them. He's a fraud talking about developing an ethos when he did nothing but piss and whine about the squad he had.

Considering that the squad was relegated he probably had good cause to whine and moan about some of them!

  12. 26 minutes ago, yarddog73 said:

Nah he won't he will end up coaching somewhere and will struggle to get a job in the FL never mind a decent one especially if the newspaper leaks were anything to do with him, lets face it what chairman will put up with that shitty behaviour, sadly after a bright start the bloke turned into an excuse merchant and its continued in the statement he's given, wish him well but it will be a long way back from what was ultimately a shocking season as a manager.

Has anyone been able to provide a shred of proof that Wellens was responsible for the leak to the press?? I haven’t seen any unless I’ve missed it.

Plus why would he? By doing so he would be obviously at risk of losing his job. His FIRST job in management. Why would he want to be seen as a young manager who can’t be trusted by any prospective owner or chairman. I just don’t see it, sorry.

Yep, like deyeres says above, Abdallah's absence from the statement is telling.....

While he undoubtedly lost his way during the run in.... I was initially really impressed with the freshness of Wellens' early interviews..... while not the most sesquipedalian of orators, I found his communication skills clear, concise and thought provoking. Similar to Lee Johnson in many ways.

I also appreciate some people's view that he was a little too quick to offer an opinion.... and some suspect he may have been leaking information to the Press.

However, my initial gut reaction to being impressed with him, still leaves me concerned that the main problem(s) he encountered were not of his own doing.... and may still be an influence this coming season.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but Lemsagam worries me to death. I'd still like to hear about his motivations and his Plans.

    My sentiments entirely.

I will say this about Wellens, I went to Portsmouth away and it was quite simply the best performance that I’ve seen from a Latics team in donkeys years! We simply played Pompey off their own pitch. MK Dons away was similar in the first half as well.

He had the team playing some lovely attacking football that was a joy to watch.

I’ve no idea what went wrong ultimately although Doyle’s illness and his struggle to recapture his form obviously played a big part as did Byrne being only half the player that he had been in the first half of the season. Gerrard only lasting 38 minutes away at Bury - when he probably shouldn’t have played - and then being out for several games afterwards when his experience could have been invaluable.

We don’t know what else happened behind the scenes. What happened to Davies’ for instance??

I do agree that some of the problems will not have been Wellens’ doing, and the jury is still out on Mr Lemsagam (at least this member of the jury is!).

Lets hope Lemsagam/Bunn/Rhodes can turn things around and get us promoted at the first attempt.

And let’s hope that the management team are allowed to manage the team without interference from above.

    Heres hoping!

    COYB!!! ⚽️⚽️

  14. Can’t head a ball. Can’t pass more than 5 yards, and his weight of pass is abysmal. Can’t shoot to save his life.

3 attributes that are useful/essential for any central midfield player.

He can tackle though and his long legs cover the ground easily.

Was my man of the match on at least a couple of occasions, but in my opinion Latics should be able to do a lot better than the likes of Ousmane Fane.

If he does go I wish him the best of luck. He seems like a likeable lad and always gave his all for the team. Something which some of the more naturally gifted players regularly failed to do.

  15. Why would Wellens run the risk of being the ‘mole’ for the article? He would have absolutely nothing to gain from it and would be almost certain of losing his job once AL found out who it was.

It would tarnish his reputation for prospective future employers. Who would want someone who will run to the nearest journalist telling tales and whingeing when things weren’t going his way? I just don’t see it.

I backed Wellens 4 days prior to him being appointed as coach last July.  34 days later I unbacked him when I thought that surely the poor performances couldn't all be down to Shez.  3 days before his temporary appointment as caretaker I backed him again and after 5 games backed him to become permanent manager for another two seasons.  17 days into his  permanent  appointment I unbacked him because of doubts about his experience.  I backed him again for a couple of days in December when we soundly beat Northampton but then unbacked him again because he ruined my Christmas.  I have to admit that although I continued to unback him for the remainder of the season I did back him for about half an hour at Ewood Park.

Overall I probably unbacked him more than backed him.  Like always I'm proposing to back the next manager before his appointment no matter who he is.  That is until I decide to unback him.

Not the most loyal of supporters are you?!?!

Blimey, you change like the wind!! ?

A season of consolidation (or mediocrity..) in the division below where we usually aim for consolidation (mediocrity) might push many of our dwindling support over the edge.

Wellens and AL should be looking for players now that are going to get us back up instantly.

One season of consolidation leads to another and then another and then another and before you know it we've spent 21 years in the same division.

None of this "aiming for the play-offs" bollocks either.  We should be aiming to go straight up and settle for the play-offs if we have to.

Couldn’t agree more! Who consolidates when you’ve dropped down a division?? You consolidate when you get promoted to make sure you stay there.

Latics should be going all out to prove that they are too good for League 2 and try to win the League outright.

Consolidate in a division containing Forest Green, Morecambe and Cheltenham??

    You’ve got to be joking!!
