  1. I am going to stick my neck out and say if the :censored: hits the fan the fans will not pull together to start the club again. There is too much squabbling and negativity and moaning. A trip to BP on a match day makes it blatantly clear that the fans do everything but pull together.

  2. With the Liverpool board winning their case at the High Court today paving the way for NESV to buy the club, why doesn't Corney contact Peter Lim?

Lim was willing to pay in region of £300 million to clear debts, provide £40 million to fund players and then look at a new stadium.

Lim could buy out Blitz and Gazal, clear the debts and then play Football Manager amongst the big boys right on our doorstep....

Having invested in big name loan signings following his arrival and £2 million in new signings in January, Lim enforces his ambition by building in record time a new 25,000 seater stadium ready for life in the Championship. Dickov buoyed by the new found wealth of the club, delivers on the pitch by securing automatic promotion at the end of April and the team celebrate to a sell-out crowd witnessing the last league game at Boundary Park.

Life following promotion is challenging as the club agree to sell two players signed in January for a healthy profit of £3 million. Clearly impressed with Dickov's first year in management, Lim rewards the Scot with a lucrative 3-year deal for him and his backroom team. As Oldham Athletic tour Singapore for a series of pre-season friendlies, including a game against the Singapore national team, Alan Hardy returns to Oldham to secure the club's first £2 million signing quickly followed by the free transfer of Michael Owen from neighbours Manchester United. Owen jets in to join his new team mates and becomes the face of a seven figure deal with Star Hub Limited broadcasting OAFC games in Singapore, Hong Kong and China.

Blooding young talent on loan from Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City, Dickov goes on to secure a Play-Off place with Owen scoring 14 goals alongside Ryan Brooke's return of 23 goals. Ironically Oldham Athletic face Liverpool in the Play-Off final with the Anfield giants looking to secure an immediate return to the Premier League. All attention is on the once publicity shy Lim who is now enjoying the spotlight of being the owner of a club once famous for their fairytale rise to the top in the early 90s. With a planned stadium expansion of 20,000 seats in the summer of 2012, Lim is determined to beat a club that he failed to buy in 2010 with a club that is now very much a club close to his heart.

I like this...find his email address Midsblue and lets get on his case:)

  4. I think the problem lies in the fact that he was touted as having pace to burn yet looks slow and cumbersome and plays with his back to goal.

He has set up a few goals though! He hasnt been playing for a long while so lets give him some time and see what happens, if he doesnt improve then, meh, who cares the gamble didnt pay off lets move on.

  5. I also have to tell you that recent activities by the Trust have not reaped the rewards we might have expected despite the tremendous efffort and work put in by Trust Directors. I cannot thank those few who are contributing to Playershare enough.

The scheme will continue but the lack of support given to it demonstrates the apathy amongst many fans.

But the plea for Dikaba made the Playershare scheme into a farce. The money wasnt raised but he is still here! Why? If we cant afford him? If he is playing for free why are we not notified? If he is as good as it was made out why is he not getting games?

  6. its obvious the kid had far too much time on his hands

Ibby (or something like that) he was known as aswell

made me chuckle about the MEN story where fyldeblue??? had been banned

Thats an understatement just followed the link to the boro site he has made his own boro forum where he talks to himself!!

am I weird that I find this strangely fascinating? I just cant get my head around how someone, however mental, could find the time to do all this haha

  7. I know. Thankfully I'm not bullying someone with a diminished intelligence and an inability to defend them self, so I'm quite comfortable with people not liking me and I'm equally comfortable with not liking them.

Oh I wish I could be more like you, your such a better person than me.

If it is true about RA why don't you do something tactfully about the way people supposedly treat him on here, rather than using his disabilities to give yourself a moral high ground.

I suggest you read Maddogs sensible reply to your "Sickens me" post.

  8. Went to the game Saturday, we battled well against a very good side. Couldnt contain Lualua and that is more down to his quality than us playing badly. Had to stand so far off him because he was beating our players with ease!

Of course it is extremely disappointing to lose in the manner we did, to two set pieces, we are obviously vulnerable in this area, but there were plenty of positives to take from the game.

Brill made some cracking saves, Mvoto had another good game, Furman was getting stuck in, Allesandra looked good back on the left wing, Tounkara still caused problems despite very little service, Kelly came on and caused problems. We also played some good stuff and Brighton fans seemed to think we were the best team they have come up against this season.

I dont like the way a lot of our fans always find fault, I think Dickov is doing a good job with a very limited squad not much different to the one which nearly got relegated last season.

  9. The football is more enjoyable this season but the atmospheres around the ground is still just as negative as usual, the constant moans groans and boos around me was depressing when we were 1 - 0 down to Bournemouth last weekend, its things like that which stop me going so much now. The team are not even allowed to be 1 - 0 down or sometimes even 0 - 0 for the slating to start.

I don't live in Oldham but in my 15 years or so of going the games I get the impression that everyone is getting more miserable? A few years ago people could have a laugh and the expectations were never this high, its sad:(

  10. We were lucky chaps, no bones about it.

I honestly thought we were not going to score, I was having flashbacks of Penney footy all very nice upto the opps penalty box and then we do not have a clue.

We have to a get a front man sorted in the centre and fast, how many times were Feeney and Tank out of position for crosses? Granted Feeney could have got us a Penalty is the first half if he went down, credit that he kept going inthe box - but that's it for me. I am not impressed with him at all. Tank - where the hell was his support? Holding the ball for eons of time with two on your and no-one giving him support.

Stephens - concentrate for the entire game man - you got caught out several times

Jones - Did he turn up? - thanks and goodbye think I have only been mildly impressed once this season

TAYLOR - do me a favour, if your going to have two defenders on you all the time go right out on the wing, take them with you and stay out there. Team, don't pass to him at all and you have been more useful taking two defenders out without touching the ball. Nice handbag slap on that defender though - you should have been sent off

Black - has been given the runnaround in several matches now but has stuck at it. Keep going son

M'voto - great at hustling a player off the ball, not so great at distribution. How unlucky was he when he was letting the ball run out of play with a striker on his back and the ball stuck on the line at the corner flag. He got some stick from the Bournemouth fans for that one.I honestly thought then we had no luck

Brill - I was in the RRE so can't really comment if the goal was his error, booed was he? You should be ashamed. The was made scape goat for a lot last season and he still wants to put the Oldham shirt on - Fleming doesn't. Support the man, he's going to get grief in games for opps fans all the time but from his own????

Intersting times ahead, need to play with wingers, need a point man in the box and we should be okay. I'm going to stick though that we will finish about 10th.

Its great to be a latics fan

Much better distribution than Rubes. Every time he gets the ball he gives it back to the opposition, hence why they are happy to let him have it and dont close him down.

  11. Barry its there for all to see what the main problem is and several have mentioned it and will continue to do so. The cost of watching league 1 football is expensive but if you are a dedicated enough and your pocket allows you will go. The cost of watching with a kid however is potentially impossible for many!

For adult and child for instance I could watch Prem football at City, Blackburn or Wigan for cheaper or equivelant to what I pay at Latics......... even though thats not for me because I am Latics to the core! However thats not the case for some who obviously cant afford the cost at the moment. With the amount of empty seats at BP and the fact that we need to gain future crowds we need to capitalise on the kids, therefore under 16's for a quid or two ANYWHERE in the ground would work, as long as they are with a paying adult. That way Latics gain the paying adult, the support and hopefully future dosh from the kid, the bigger crowd, the revenue from sales at the shop (scarf, food, drink, programme etc).

We used to capitalise on being vastly cheaper than the Manchester clubs and people would therefore sometimes come to us instead............. I pay £11 in the main stand for my youngen and it would cost £5 to take her to City!

    Simples!

Good idea, and to stop all the 16 - 18 year olds from exploiting the system you get them to show there ID when entering the ground!
