Smalley is not in great form but that is no reason to call for his release, he has shown that on his day he has more than enough to be a good player at this level. Much better prospect than the likes of Alessandra and Lomax IMO.

Dare I say it this may persuade me to buy a season ticket again!!!
Is there any others thinking the same? Have they finally stumbled upon a great marketing ploy?
-
Danny Whitaker if your reading this I can hand on heart say your 10000000% better than Ritchie Wellens. Premier League for you boy!
-
Is this a weird viewpoint?
If phase 2 was to go ahead I would keep the horseshoe shape rather than fill in all 4 corners to keep it unique!!
-
like us ?
I wouldnt say we are in a financial mess, I would hope we wouldnt fall into that bracket just yet...if anything I feel we are well run in terms of finances ATM.
It looks like Darlington are on their way out and they have been a league club all my life. I wonder if more will follow.
-
The council have given it the go ahead for Fleetwood to start building, the team is about to turn professional and they are currently top of the Conference North, i wonder how long it will be before the ambitious non-league team on my door step over take the team i have supported all of my life and sinking fast with no ambitions at all.
Do you think we could see a trend of ambitious well run football clubs stepping out of Non league with finances in order replacing some of the traditional poorly run professional clubs who are in a financial mess?
-
I could not think of anyone else in the squad who would even come close to being as good a captain as Gregan. Maybe why we are where we are!
-
Very little of that makes sense.
It makes perfect sense...
Fans think we are a big enough club to be aiming for the Championship.
Same fans think it would signal the death of the club if we got relegated to L2.
I put forward view that a club which is or should be challenging for the Championship would not have such a small or fickle fan base that it could not survive in L2.
-
What I cant get my head around is that it is the same people who are disgusted that we don't seem to be aiming for the Championship who say it will be the end of the club if we get relegated
Surely you can see those viewpoints dont go together?! A club aiming to get into the Championship does not have such a small and fickle fan base, that it would go out of business if it gets relegated to the bottom division! What kind of w**k support do we have that its Championship or bust!!
edit - take out the swearing!

How old are you ? 5?
56. Why do you ask good man?

Please pick me up I am at your mums!!

No you are missing the point...
Simon Corney claims to be the 36th Richest man in England, he also claims to have invented Jam, Table-Tennis, and that in 5-years time Oldham will be a semi-pro all-girls team playing in Pink at the Failworth mini-mega dime-bar dome.
... oh wait...
Simon Corney reinvented Jam just try his home-made plum and raspberry its sublime I put it on everything

My guess is he didn't get kept on after the probationary period, nothing more sinister than that.

Does anyone know if the club does scout the non-league?
-
I ask again what is this protest actually about? what's the desired outcome.
I was protesting like there was no tomorrow when it was marching for the planning permission...there was a clear outcome desired for a worthy cause.
Is this just a protest because we are ? If its about how the club was run surely are you going to keep protesting even if by some miracle we start moving up into a lofty league position? (hypothetical i know but it could happen)

I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANNA ZIGAZIG AHHHH!

Match fitness doesn't just mean fitness as in how long you can run for.
If anything its the mental sharpness required for a competitive game. I believe that anyone on here who plays a sport of any kind, team or individual would agree that match fitness is not a myth.

Am I the only person here not to have smacked Chris Taylor ???? FFS
Ste .. best of british mate. Im sure the truth will out.
I gave Chrissy a good smack across the chops just this morning, he loves it mate get involved!

Thanks for the nomination Singe! However, I want to make it clear, rather like the protest march against the council I'm happy to suggest the original idea then allow others to run with it! I'll contribute where I can but any meeting would have to be at a weekend as I simply cannot commit to anything during the week at the moment due to my Uni and teaching commitments. Half-term may be an option but at the moment whilst personally I think a protest is the right way to go we do need to find some common ground and establish just what our grievances are. Some are fed up with the manager, the players, the whole footballing side. Others are fed up with the way the club is being run and have been for some time and some have real grievances against the owners. My issues are a mixture of all. Without common ground being found we cannot move forward.
A mass open forum may be the way to go, if the owners have the stomach for that - get everything out in the open, air grievances and move forward otherwise hear say, rumour and conjecture will continue to fester and deepen the air of gloom strangling the club.
The suggestion of a protest was to simply to test the water, as to how much stomach there was to arrest the apathy around the club - to try and get the stayways involved again, to try and get the various factions amongst the fanbase all singing from the same hymn sheet. We cannot afford to continually haemorrage fans at the alarming rate we are. We either want a club and stand up or be counted or we sit at home sulking and allow the club to die like many did with ORLFC and many of the same people call themselves Latics fans, well you sat on your hands once are you prepared to do that again or are you prepared to let the club know what you think of the current situation? Whining about it on here or trundling round Spindles on a Saturday will do nothing to arrest the slide.
We moan about the players not having any bollocks, that may be true but the amount of bottlers amongst our fanbase is far more concerning...
So is this a protest against the apathy of our fanbase?

Ive heard Southgate in tomorrow.
-
What on earth is this proposed protest about? How about a dirty protest every time we lose or draw? At least the stench after a few defeats should be off putting for future opponents!
Seriously though, ive read through this thread and have no real idea about what or who people want to protest at/about!
A shrewd move from Penny

If anything it helps to be an average player at Oldham. Lomax springs to mine, didnt cop half the :censored: Eardley did mainly because he wasn't as good. Taylor and Smalley have shown they are quality players on their day so any dip in form and the knives are out.
