  1. This season was always going to be a mess after the scouser and his mates wrecked any chance of smooth progression.

We have a bloated squad of weak minded, very average, non league players, almost none of whom are up for a battle or seem to have any desire to progress in their careers…they look as though Oldham Athletic was their career target and now they are coasting.

The NL is so poor that even with such an awful squad we can still put out an eleven that might scrape into the playoffs.

If by some minor miracle we get promoted (we won’t, Bromley or Southend will batter us) then how many of these wage stealers would you keep in L2….maybe 3 or 4 from the entire squad?

  2. Tbh I wasn’t a fan of the very short term loan, good as he was, there was not much point in getting attached to him or the formation, we need consistency so much rather have players for at least the season

That said, he did brilliantly and hopefully the injury will be a blip and he will go on to have a great career, his attitude was a breath of fresh air and hopefully some of our “can’t really be arsed” squad are getting the message

  3. All’s well that ends well! I thought we were a bit better in the second half and especially the last 25 mins, got stuck in a little more and that was enough to u settle them.

Its a great shame that we may have seen the last of Stones but big Mike reminded us that he is still a real handful at this level and will score his fair share of goals too.

A tough watch in the first half but well done to the lads for digging in and getting the win after the break.

Looking forward to Dorking now, should be fun

Looks like Southend fans have had a Christmas present contracts for the sale have been exchanged, Maher and his backroom staff have signed new contracts, and the transfer embargo has been lifted.

Great news for them, I suppose they are probably too far behind to mount a promotion campaign this season but next season they will be a big hitter in the league.

I think they’ll win the league next year! And I wouldn’t count them out for the playoffs this season IF they can recruit quickly and well

Must be some bad weather in the Atlantic as some of the boats have been turning back on themselves - looks weird on the race map.

I think it might just be when they are sleeping or resting…the boat will just drift around for a bit and then they use their compass to get back on track when they start rowing again. (Either that or they’re all drinking like it’s an away game)

Never underestimate how shit you can be and finish 7th in this league.

I also think this season is a write off but your point is valid, we are shite but only a couple of wins off the pace. However, even if by some miracle MM manages to drag these raffle winners into 7th and with a further miracle promotion I still think he would want to rebuild next summer ready for L2 so weirdly these two lines of thought are not entirely mutually exclusive

  7. I keep saying it but this season is a write off, we simple don’t have the right players with the right mentality

MM is going to have to figure it out and make big changes to both the personnel and the mindset ready for next season

Its hugely frustrating but we blew the opportunity last summer by sticking with DU and the damage is done

  8. Sheron was mostly crap last season and is mostly crap this season, same as Hogan and frankly the rest of them. Can they avoid relegation? Yes. Can they drive us into the playoffs? Not a fucking chance

MM obviously knows it too which is why he is bringing in players and trying almost everyone in the hapless squad to see who, if any, of these clowns can actually play competitive football consistently.

He’ll soon accept it is almost none of them and given how many are contracted through next season we have a problem which we probably can’t fix for a couple of summers.

It’s a crying shame but was always going to happen when Darren Royle gave his fraud of a mate last summer to waste Frank’ money

  9. Im absolutely sick and tired of this squad of gutless plastic footballers. I’d be quite happy if we put the lot on the transfer list in January (is that even a thing in the NL?!)

None of them give a shit about their profession or this club, just picking up a decent wage every week for jogging around on a football pitch a handful of times a month and occasionally making a bit of extra effort when they can be arsed

If they played a sport where only winners get paid like tennis or golf this lot would starve.

It's interesting to see the apparent gulf in class between the NL and the NLN and NLS at present.

Last year's relegated teams (Scunthorpe, Yeovil, Torquay, Maidstone) currently sit 1st, 1st, 2nd and 4th in the NLN / NLS.

Last year's promoted teams (Ebbsfleet, Oxford, Kidderminster, Fylde) sit 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th in the NL.

Slightly surprised me - I'd always sort of assumed that the bottom end of the NL and the top end of the NLN / NLS were much of a muchness.

I went to a few NLS games last season and there really was a difference in quality I thought

Just a thought, and I don’t speak for all Latics fans, and I don’t know how we’d go about it but why don’t we ask Dorking to donate the £1000 they are putting behind the bars in Dorking to instead donate to Franks cause. I’d certainly rather that than receive a free drink in a pub in Dorking.

    Brilliant idea!
