  1. Nice ground, kerapp pitch. All that money spent and no undersoil heating - doh! KOTK
  2. Teams that I can't stand outside of Man Utd/Man City:- Spurs - arrogant fans Everton - something about them makes me want to puke. Graeme Sharp, Dockers, Everton are white song sung in the 80's Bolton Wanderers - think they are a massive club - 20 years ago they were lucky to pull in 4,000 for a league game Apart from that I have no real aversion to any club. Love to beat Blackpool but I secretly (or maybe not so secretly now) have a bit of a soft spot for them. Blackburn were my nearest team for many years when I lived in Great Harwood so no hatred there. Worked in Burnley with a lot of Burnley fans and whilst icredibly inbred they were a decent passionate lot who care about their club. Onto another potential debate - who hates us? Only team I can think of would be Rochdale and we never play them! KOTK
  3. Tongue firmly in cheek there LL? Can't imagine those wanting a ticket wouldn't get one when there will be 30,000 on offer. Anyway superb that we are talking about a wembley final when we are 8 points adrift and sitting in 12th place . Again, I assume a bit tongue in cheek but hey who knows . KOTK
  4. Blackpool for me - Father in law is a lasher I have a very unlhealthy hatred of everything Bolton Wanderers although unless we meet them in the FA Cup in next couple of seasons I don't envisage we'll be running into them any time soon. KOTK
  5. In fairness I think we can all be a bit like that can't we? Lose in last minute against Bristol and the storm clouds come out. A win tomorrow and blue skies...............................................until the Saturday after! Only exception to us fickle lot are the happy/clappy or the doom brigade. No matter what happens they are high as a kite (happy/clappy) or lower than a snake's belly (we are all doomed!). Part and parcel of being a football supporter I suppose. KOTK
  6. By all accounts he was shafted by Latic's (allegedly) and didn't want to leave. He'd crawl back on broken glass tomorrow if Shez give him the nod. Top bloke and a top player for us last year. If he was a couple of years younger he'd still be with us. Hopefully he'll get a great reception tomorrow until he puts in a hard tackle/back chats to the ref when the muppet choir will jump on his back (as a fighting breaks out in the Chaddy end) KOTK
  7. will be touting us for a play off spot again? Just curious................................. KOTK ps 3 back to back wins from having a realistic chance/3 back to back defeats from getting involved in a twitchy ariss end of season?
  8. 1) Swans 2) Donny 3) Forest 4) ? 5) ? 6) ? 5 home games in next 7. Win 4 of them and nick a win away and that top 6 might seem quite as laughable as what some people think. Unlikely not but not impossible. KOTK
  9. Same thing for all intents and purposes isn't it? We can always KOTK
  10. How many times this season? Leeds, Donny, Brighton, Bristol R............................................................. Lack of concentration and professionalism. Having said that, if you don't score you are always liable to leak one, particularly as legs begin to tire. Very disappointing. KOTK
  11. OK, lets have a pop at predicting that lot Bristol - draw Yeovil - win Brighton - defeat Swindon - win Port Vale - draw Hartlepool - win Tranmere - draw Bournemouth win Luton - win Millwall - draw Doncaster - defeat Huddersfield - win Swindon - draw Leyton Orient - defeat Northampton win Cheltenham win Crewe draw 8 wins 6 draws and 3 defeats would mean a helluva end to the season but definitely possible. 70 pts may nick 6th spot provided our goal difference remains strong. Tuesday for me is absolutely massive - if we can nick a win and then beat Yeovil (as we should) that would leave us needing 8 wins out of 15 with a few draws for good measure to give us a massive shout (winning 1 out of 2 with our run in is possible). Season is very much alive in a very very very average division. KOTK
  12. Cheers mate, Maybe these numpties aren't married...............perhaps..................or don't have a regular girlfriend. My wife is a worrier and I make no apology for trying to put her mind at rest during the game. I'd do the same if we were on a plane that was about to crash. KOTK
  13. If a Latic's fan was mouthing off and got a beating they deserve it. If someone sets on an innocent fan who isn't looking for trouble I'd try and intervene be they a Tic or any opposing supporter. As for the numpties who feel I was silly trying to comfort my wife......................cheers for the advice lads. Next time I'll tell her the Oldham and Udders fans will be kickin ten bells out of each other and there won't be a copper in sight. Many thanks. KOTK
  14. With a razor sharp statement like that I think I'll retire. KOTK
  15. Always trouble Oldham v Udders? I have watched Oldham v Hudds many a long year mate and thats the first fighting I have ever seen. Not saying it doesn't happen but surely the police should have had it wrapped up so close to ground where kids and women were. Knob. KOTK
  16. 40+ guy wearing colours doesn't smack (no pun intended) to me of someone who is going to try and run the FYC up Sheepfoot lane. Therefore I 'presume' he was an innocent party. I could, however, be miles off the mark. That's why I used the word 'presumably'. KOTK
  17. I don't claim to know all the facts but for starters:- 1) Udders fan battered on sheep-foot lane - FACT 2) Both Oldham and Udders fans sought a confrontation on Sheepfoot lane and there were skirmishes - FACT Other rumours re Rochdale road, Litten tree, objects being thrown on the ground - I saw nothing of this but what I did see was some pretty irate groups of Oldham lads wanting some action against there Huddersfield counterparts who were more than willing to oblige. Both parties guilty but we sure as hell were not whiter than white in my view. The policing wasn't just poor, something which is poor exists and the policing was literally non-existent. KOTK
  18. Hang on clown. Rewind. Did I, at any stage have a pop at Oldham fans. Explain. Also explain who Hudders started it. As far as I could see both sets of fans were more than happy to trade. Oh, apart from the poor Udders bloke who got a smack for no reason as far as I could see. KOTK
  19. When I first started watching Latic's in the early eighties I remember many an occasion where I would walk down sheepfoot lane 20 minutes before the game only to be met with groups of lads/men fighting and police desperately trying to restore calm. That all seemed to end as our glory years came to the fore and in my eyes we have been one of the better behaved sets of fans over the last 15 years (with the obvious exception of local derby games v Man Utd/Bolton and City). In the last year or so there seems to be an unfortunate comeback from the Oldham hoolies. Trouble v Blackpool, trouble v Udders and other bits and bobs. Yesterday was like a flashback to the bad old days of the mid eighties. Grown men fighting/arguing in the middle of the road. A poor, presumably innocent Huddersfield fan lied in a pool of blood. I found it all a bit sad and uncomfortable considering I had re-assured my wife there would be no aggro after the game. I genuinely think the police need to have a good old re-think about potential hotspots and how they control that part of things for the higher profile matches attracting say 9,000+ crowds. Yesterday was pathetic - two large groups of men/lads walking into each other and mingling straight after the game when emotions are running high without a policeman in sight is unacceptable. Sure, if these guys want to rip each others heads off away from the ground, away from the families and the kids, away from anybody else and away from where they can damage any property let them. But the police need to get a serious grip on things a bit closer to the ground. Its happened twice now in less than 12 months and innocent people who just want to watch their football teams are in danger in getting embroiled in situations they shouldn't have to. I suspect after yesterday there is going to be some serious needle at all Oldham/Huddersfield matches in future (more so than there was prior to yesterday). KOTK
  20. All quiet on sheepfoot lane an hour after game Hopefully it will be quiet elsewhere but us and Udders have a history and I reckon there be more disorder. Looked more than handbags to me. Wonder if the guy who was sparked out thought it was handbags? KOTK
  21. Serious disorder up Sheepfoot lane. Saw some guy on the floor. Not sure if he was Oldham or Huddersfield. Police ran over to assist. About 30 seconds later a Huddersfield fan started shouting 'you think you are hard Oldham'. Then Huddersfield fans started a small song to receive chants of 'sheepshaggers'. Next thing you know there is a free for all going on in the middle of the road. Cat C Policing? Absolute joke. Must have been at least 3,000 fans travelling uo Sheepfoot lane without barely a policeman in sight. Sure there will be fun and games going on well into the evening. Very sad. KOTK
  22. Great way to summarise how much this club means to a lot of people. More than a club to us all. It's a large part of our life. Emotion takes over me at times when I watch the club that I have supported for 25 years. The feeling of despair in 1987 (thousands of fans cried with Tommy), yard dogs at Walsall the season after, the cup runs, getting locked out at Southampton, getting locked in the crematorium at Leeds, beating City (on numerous occasions , beating Utd, Eyrseys goal v Plymouth, relegation twice, Beckford at Bolton/Ritchie v Barnsley................magnificent memories. The only way I can sum up my feelings for Latics is when we were playing Bradford at home under Ronnie and needed a win to stay up. MK Dons were at home against Tranmere and scored a late goal to win as Bradford were hammering our goal. My wife heard about the MK Dons goal and tapped me on the arm 'Sweetheart, I am really sorry ...........................MK Dons have scored' She delivered that line the way I would have expected her to tell me she had been having an affair with my best mate for the last 5 years. The club is cemented in a lot of peoples hearts and whilst we might be fewer in numbers than many I maintain that we are the most passionate supporters in the country. Sure we have a moan from time to time. That's because we care. Hopefully today will be another memorable game which will live forever in the memory. KOTK
