It's so trendy to shout from the rooftops that you don't watch England.
-
The analogy stands up.
It's a competition we can win, but it's not the Champions League.
-
*terrible analogy klaxon*
Thanks for your input.

I won £20 on the lottery once. Admittedly it wasn't the big jackpot, or even £1000, or even £100, but I was well chuffed.
I didn't hand it back because I dream of winning the big jackpot. I accepted the £20 happily, because winning money is why I bought a lottery ticket, it was a good thing and it put me in really good mood.

Chicken wings are minging though. You get a tiny sliver of meat in a parcel of tendon and skin
They're slightly more satisfying when eaten correctly though.

Highlights (also updated to the pinned thread):
Where did they put the effects mic? Old Trafford?

West Brom 3 Oldham 1 19th Nov 1994
Can't find the lineups so if anyone could help then that would be great!
The only things I remember are:
Thinking that the Hawthorns was HUGE!
Being in the main stand and not seeing any of the West Brom goals because everyone stood up seconds before it happened.
Your first game was away? Proper Gillingham away material that.

Adam Griffin vs Grimsby in the Celebration Sunday 6-0 win. Overhead kick from a tight angle. Lovely stuff.
Edit: I just found it on YouTube; it wasn't as good as I remember, happy memories though.

Absolute howitzer. Was being closed down pretty enthusiastically as well.

I only just realised this is another £24 admission fee. It's going to be an expensive day, at least these cracking pubs suggested by Diego should make the subsequent poverty worthwhile.
-
If we sign Ebanks-Blake I might even go as far as to say we'll finish 12th this season.
There's always one that has to get carried away and spaff it up the wall.
-
Bloody hell. Selective memory or what. Haven't got a clue what the wife said to me this morning.
"Must you really insist on sleeping with your Rothman's Football Yearbooks?"

Who was C Lightfoot?
The name Craig Lightfoot rings a bell...
However Wikipedia tells me it was Chris Lightfoot, he made three appearances on loan from Crewe before dropping into non-league obscurity.
-
Well they've rather confidently written us off haven't they. I don't know why we're even bothering sending a team.
-
I think I went to a friendly or two beforehand, but my first proper first team game was the league cup 2nd round first leg game against Sheffield Wednesday.
Team according to soccerbase.com was:
G Kelly
P Jones
C Lightfoot
S McNiven
A Holt
M Innes
D Boshell
L Duxbury
C Corazzin
M Tipton
C Dudley
I remember nothing about the game apart from a Wednesday player smashing into the gate at the bottom of the Chaddy.

:censored: resting forte. We're only about 5 games into the god dam season. Get him playing and let's get some points on the board!
I don't think it's a case of him getting tired. It's more that his knee needs more recovery time, this would appear to be the reason he's only played the one Tuesday match thus far.
As for not signing Porter because we've won a couple...I would think both Corney and Johnson are wiser than that. The best time to strengthen is when you're strong; there is no panic and you can assess your squad more rationally.

It'll save you hours of waiting up with your shotgun when she's out on a date.
I've been watching a lot of Orange is the New Black recently. A shotgun seems a reasonable precaution.

Football songs need to be short and simple, like me.
The tune also needs to be recognisable. That's why many clubs use the same tune and alter the words to suit. There's no such thing as a "United tune".
:censored:'s sake.
This. This, this, this, this and this again.

Just guess work.
He's guessing he hasn't been there, when he has no idea if he has or hasn't.. For the record I have heard him speak and he speaks like a Yorkshire man but that doesn't mean he's never been to Barbados
Well you're not wrong.
-
He's from Barbados so id imagine it's pronounced
"Jon-a-fan Fort-aayy" mon
Have you heard him speak? Unless Barbados is a suburb of Sheffield I'm not sure he's ever even been there.

The bra burning (plus imprisonment and many other sufferings) was to enable women to have the choice of swearing etc if they wanted to!
It doesnt give anyone the right to assume that they must do so or even force them to listen to it! That would be the height of sexism!
Any message on here can be read by anyone and I would defend their right for it to be in good grammar and well constructed in english!
If people cannot do so without resorting to foul language, it says a lot about their education and/or their lack of respect for others!
Using swearing especially the F word to heighten a point is really poor!
But men have that same right, so why would you question someone's decision to swear in front of ladies and under 18s but not men? It seems to me you are assuming that men are happy to listen to swearing, something that you just claimed was the height of sexism, no?
Oh, and suggesting that swearing is indicative of a poor education is, quite frankly, bollocks. It can emphasise a point expertly when time or space is at a premium.
These are all just words, part of learning the English language is learning these words and learning when and when not to use them. Using them on an internet message board is fairly inconsequential. Using them at a job interview, when meeting your partner's parents for the first time or when giving a eulogy could be quite disastrous.
-
You start with the 1 word if you have to! Do you utter that word in front of ladies and U18s?
Are ladies not allowed to hear swearwords now? Was all that bra burning for nothing?
-
I'd appreciate it if someone could put together a thread and pin it so that we can refer to the words we are and are not allowed to use when discussing particular subjects.
-
I'll agree with Zorro though, traditional is the wrong word. I don't push for that design out of tradition, I push for it because I think it's pretty unique and - when paired with the V neck collar - a masterclass in simple football shirt design.
If we wore that strip - and variations of it - for, let's say, a decade it would start to become synonymous with us. We would have a real signature kit. We could wear all blue, or blue with white shorts for a hundred years and it would never be a shirt you could pick out in a line up and say "That's Oldham".
That's my two penn'orth anyway.

Warrington away would be cool. I watched them play Clitheroe (I think) towards the end of last season, it was a proper tiny non-league ground. I'd love to see us take over.
