  1. Exactly, that’s got to be the minimum benchmark now for any of our young talent being poached away! I really rate Smalley, as i do all our young prospects, however if the sale (AT THE RIGHT PRICE) of one of these youngsters a season means the club continues to survive and hopefully progress, then so be it. Disappointing yes, but you have to think of the future of the club.

However Sheff Utd have 7 strikers on the books already?

As said earlier, Philliskirk has to be given credit, and a good contract (whenever its up) or he will be the next one to be poached away!

I dont think we can quite class a potential smalley deal in the same region as the trotman deal, because trotman played a good 20 games from the start, putting in sensational performances in almost every one. Smalley on the other hand looks as though he could be a cracking player, but hes only really been seen from the bench in the majority of games, and has only scored around 1 or 2(?) first team goals. Somewhere in the region of 250k, with some future clauses (sell on fee, fee after a numbe rof appearances etc) would probably be an acceptable deal from our perspective, but would sheff united pay it?

  2. Mr Hardy continued: “It is a worry but, if we can find out the cause of the problem and treat it, I am confident there will be an improvement in the next 10 to 14 days.......if not we will ask all those fans that bought the bits of astra turf to bring them back and we will re-lay them.

they have grass on cars now?

  3. nice thinking but, for coming out to, Generations would be PERFECT.

fast, upbeat, perfect to sing along to and made by local lads.

ah yeah your right, just listening to it now n it would be great! maybe it could be on next seasons poll lol

Thats all i can get, not too sure about some though. How did i do??

  5. I fully agree, entrance should be Mouldy Old Dough - tradition innit, as for the goal music I would like something related to the club, or at least with a tenuous link to the club or goal, something by the Inspirals perhaps? Failing that Eat My Goal, at least it is footie related. Too many teams have James Brown and some of the other suggestions.

The intro to Saturn 5 by Inspirals may be a good idea if your gonna go down the local interest route. But i voted for Guns as as far as i know it would be unique to us and it could catch on really well at away games, as Diego suggested.

  6. I'm not a big fan of songs being played after goals, but i do like a good rousing song for the players to come out to. I noticed today spain and sweden came out to seven nation army by white stripes and it worked brilliantly, just the right type of song!

    Here it is...

  7. Eintracht Frankfurt Hey Hey!

    Eintracht Frankfurt Oh Oh!

Check out the singing at 3:20 - class...

I like the idea of the display seen on that picture, where all the fans hold up cards, unfortunately i dont think we'd fill the RRE enough to try it out. Maybe against big clubs tho, against leeds for example

  8. If Wolfenden is here next season then good, in my opinion. I think he has the ability, and the attributes, to make it at our level. If he'd been given more pitch time so far in his career then who knows how many he could have scored.

I would, however, like to see him shipped out to a League Two side next season, like someone has said earlier, until maybe January 1st. If by that stage either he has impressed us enough to bring him back and give him a go, so be it. If he hasn't impressed the Oldham staff enough, then someone else will have taken a liking to him; I'm sure of that.

I never like it when players we've brought through from a young age are moved on. Shame to see them go, really.

    Keep the Faith

I agree totally, he needs to play regular football at a lower level to get into the goalscoring nack in professional football. Hes scored plenty in the ressies but has had few proper chances to establish himself in the firsts, sub appearances are good for a bit of match practice but a regular starting place at league 2/conference level would give him the opportunity to prove that, given games, he can be a regular and consistent goal threat. If he doesnt prove this, then so be it, move him on. I hate to see our own youth players released without a proper shot at making it.

  9. in dowies playoff season, we had what seemed like a brilliant scouting network. we had signings from non league, who performed excellantly that year for us. these players were also dirt cheap, and because of their history would have been paid a pittance. my question is how come we cant do this now? im not having "these players are one in a million". We found 2 in one close season so it can't be that rare. we also signed pogs from australia.

my other point on scouting, well signings in general is that same year we signed josh lowe from nowhere. not a big name player but his ability down the wings was tremendous. the final ball wasnt always there, but he beat his man every time. another player who wouldnt be on sky high wages. im not saying its easy to accomplish what dowie did in the transfer market, but it is posssable. i dont find it acceptable that "players are out of reach or we cant meet their wage demands, we proved that year with better use of the transfer and scouting systems it can be done.

granted the likes of armsrong, hill, holden and Wijnard all cost money, or demanded high wages, but in other positions we were able to identify our needs and fill problem positions with relatively cheap options. why do we seem unable to do that now? this, along with signing a physio who wants to be here are the two main things that need sorting in the summer.

i agree with you on most points, but josh low was signed from Cardiff and had played a few games for them.

  10. In this month's 442 magazine there is a feature on the 50 top imports in British football, and i was surprised to see that possibly the most obvious Latics candidate, Gunnar Halle, was beaten into the top 100 by such players as John Harkes, Lubomir Moravcik, Russel Latapy (of Falkirk!) and Roy Wegerle. So i ask who you rate as Latics greatest import and whether they should figure in that top 100...

  11. Cockney version = Addicks

im pretty sure that charltons nickname of addicks comes from an owner they had way back in the day who was a fishmonger or something of the sort. He gave staff haddocks as bonuses and in the south london accent that they all have around there haddocks was pronounced 'addicks' and this became the nickname.

I'm pretty confident of this but could well be proved wrong, take your best shot!

  12. I never understand this Latics mentality...... NO REASON WHY WE CANT WIN OUR NEXT TWO GAMES???? Wtf

on paper yes, but we are hardly the most consistant team at picking up wins, wake up, the play offs are a big ask this season and the quicker people realise that the younger players will bevelop more quickly if the fans get real, because the negative, PROMOTION IS A MUST! type fans and pathetic. I would love to see us put a 6/7 game winning run together, but can you honestly see that happening with this squad, with big question marks over key experienced players like Gregan, Hughes, Liddell etc. We can't keep relying on Alessandra, Smalley, Taylor, Eardley, Lomax, they are kids who are learning their trade, and doing a very very good job...... Lets keep it real!

ok i think i know what your saying here but how on gods earth is a 'promotion is a must' attitude negative? its the pure definition of positivity and optimism surely! I also don't think thats the attitude most fans have to be honest, i think it is more of a 'promotion is something we all dearly want' attitude. Other than that, you make a fair point regarding consistency, i think thats the main obstacle to us making the playoffs
