  1. Good work, Derek. After ages of promising to get myself a new job, I might have some news next week. Here's hoping.
  2. I'm so far behind with this thread, ain't got a scoob what's going on. Nice cheating LL, superb story too. I have a few such tales, but they'll have to wait for another time. Stipes, if you're coming over at Chesterfield, I've a decent album for you, repay the Midlake, which I'm enjoying. Very melodic. Unlike the equally enjoyable rabble IM gave me. Superb country punk (note to admin, need a proper punk smiley thing).
  3. Good call Stevie and HTC on the 3.10. Ground Ball places in the 3.45 to finish my day today. Will be on with my thoughts for tomorrow in the morning, right now off on the beer, so I'll be posting with something of a hang over in the morning.
  4. Quite a shock there, but at least it might mean Wichita isn't built up as a superhorse like BJK was. Nothing more from me in the final few races, not had chance to look properly, so can't justify any choices.
  5. Tough day again. I've only managed to look at the first few races in some detail. Nothing original I'm afraid. 2.00, gotta agree with Jeff on Aces Four. Denman was a particularly impressive winner at the Festival and it was Aces Four that really gave him a race until tiring into fourth. I think the price of around 11/4 is reasonably fair. 2.35 and clearly it has to be Wichita Lineman. A horse I've followed throughout the year and one ready to make the step up beyond what stablemate Black Jack Ketchum has achieved. This is merely a stepping stone. All things going to plan, look out for it in next year's World Hurdle. 3.10 and Well Chief owes a fair few punters something after Cheltenham and should deliver. Taranis will probably be the one to give him something to think about but don't rule out Monet's Garden, no matter how disappointing he was (when carrying my cash) at the Festival. All in all, it would be a large upset for Well Chief not to do the business. The 3.45 is a massively difficult race to call. Irish Raptor, Hakim, Vodka Bleu all could do well. My preference is for Ground Ball. His third at the Festival to Andreas was decent enough, more so considering Bambi De L'Orme (who came fifth in that race) won today. Will post any thoughts on the other three races tomorrow, if I get the chance.
  6. Don't pay for Timeform, don't subscibe to any services, just had that link sent to me. Laouen does look ok in the last. Liberate drifting in the next though...
  7. Great call from Hometown Club on Scots Grey.
  8. Mighty Man cruises it, well done Jeff!
  9. Pretty useful link for anyone who's interested.
  10. No worries, I shall reply to straight away
  11. I've worn contacts for five years now. Got 'em as I couldn't stand the sweat around my nose with glasses during the summer or the sudden steaming up when leaving the cold during winter. Granted, there have been many a time I forgot to take them out (mainly when drunk), many a time when I've done the old try and take 'em out when they already are a la LL's 2nd favourite (again, when drunk) and the take 'em out and manage to split them whilst putting them in their case (when sober and drunk). Still, very pleased I got them. Oh, Stipey, did you get my email?
  12. I do enjoy the Aintree festival. The opener is a real cracker. At the price, I can't back BJK. Granted he won here in a novice hurdle last year and should be the freshest after his fall at Cheltenham, but he still has too much to prove. For me this race is between World Hurlde Champion, Inglis Drever and Aintree specialist, Mighty Man. I'm backing Inglis Drever. The course and conditions are ideal for Mighty Man but I can't desert a horse who proved how much of a fighter he is at Cheltenham and at 5/2 he's well worth backing. The second race is a belter too. Exotic Dancer is the obvious choice after he stalked Kauto Star all the way, impressively at Cheltenham. His price is too short though. State of Play to me didn't look to be in the same class and I'm assuming his short price is down to his previous Aintree form. To me, he's best fresh and he certainly won't be too fresh here. That leaves the enigma that is Our Vic. A stunning recovery to finish second in the Ryanair was quite eye catching. Then again, he trailed badly behind an old favourite in Grey Abbey two years ago here in the Betfair Chase. Based upon that superb second, I'm going to be on Our Vic. Madness? Probably. 3.10 Katchit was impressive at Cheltenham also, had a couple of these behind them and should win this here. Foxhunters, no selection. Like Inspiral, I can't back Andreas in the 4.20. Let's people down far too often. I quite like Hasty Prince who was second behind Andreas at the festival. I'd take Liberate to win the 4.55. Not a great price but in decent form and should handle the ground. The last race, I'm not too sure on so shan't post a selection. All in all a packed day's action. Pity I'll be working but should be able to get the BBC's coverage through the internet to keep a sneaky eye on events. If it's half as profitable as Cheltenham was, it should be a cracker. Swift edit to correct spelling mistakes.
