It was completely over the top.

My youngest son was in tears as were some of the players.

If the abuse was personal then it's obviously not on, but being on the receiving end of a bit of booing and songs like 'what the fucking hell is that' is part and parcel of being a footballer. If you can't hack that you're not going to get very far...

No player should fear for their safety or feel threatened of course, like - was it really that bad?

I guess you weren’t there then if you think it was 30 seconds?

My post probably gives too much weight to booing because that’s what I was discussing.  Booing, name calling, abusive language, physical abuse, stewards getting involved, fisticuffs.  Lots more too so it really was a hectic 30 seconds!

I never said that the booing wasn’t warranted.  I booed myself.  You seem to have dismissed all the rest of what was going on though as high jinks and mild histrionics.

Grown men?  I’ll take your word for it.  Thanks for the opinion though 👍

I wasn't there, no, but what I do know is that the players chose to sign for this club - most will have been aware of who Abdallah Lemsagem was before they arrived.

Let's be honest, a bit of swearing and shouting is mild histrionics.

Questioning if they're grown men? Did you go to watch the youth team yesterday?

Your post literally expressed no opinion whatsoever.

Is it beyond the realms of possibility that they might get it right at some point though? Even if they fluke it?

We all often think we know better than whoever our manager is at any given time....

Clocks are right twice a day but a club run in the way ours currently is does not succeed over any significant length of time - egos their size will eventually find a way to infect anything positive.

Don't apologise. New signings deserve new threads. It's become a habit on here to confine all chat to about 3 or 4 different threads, it makes it hard to keep up with what's going and it has made this message board a pretty drab and tedious affair for the most part. Back in the day you had new threads not just for transfers and breaking news, but for new rumours too, and the place was a lot livelier for it. Even though we had a "Transfer rumours" thread, we had one for each new window, rather than the current one that dates back to last year. You don't know where to start when you click into it.

Take the "Take over/investment" thread. That was made regarding the initial take over of Al like two years ago, how is it still relevant to post in today? I get there's still questions and discussions to be had regarding his ownership, but they'd be better served being separate discussions of their own based on new information that has come out since, rather than just having one bucket to discuss all ownership discussion.

It's got that bad that because I never really check the website and follow social media sporadically, I didn't realise Shez had left us for Notts County until like a day after it happened, 'cause nobody created a thread regarding it, it all got discussed in a generic "Shez" thread and I used to use this forum to check for breaking news ahead of all other platforms.

I dunno, it might be just me, but consolidating all the chat into the same threads has ruined the experience of discussing Latics on here.

Not just you. I barely read this forum anymore and that's one of the reasons. Find out all news via Twitter, whereas this used to be almost as good for keeping a track of things. Always used to like this forum as a contrast to a lot of other club's because it did have many various different threads rather than big mergers.

    Sadly he's right.

We do have a lot of fans who adopt a stance and would then rather be proven "right" to the detriment of the club than give credit where it's due if they're proven wrong.

    They're a psychologists dream I'd imagine....

A lot of them also wrongly use the word "fickle" to describe those of us who just try to call it as we see it - i.e. praise us when we're good, slate us when we're shit - rather than adopt an agenda that must not be deviated from....

It didn't seem hostile when we were doing okay under Bunn last season, in and around the play-offs...

Sadly there's a lot of members on here that are almost hoping that our new manager fails so they can give it he big "I told you so"

My personal preference would be to have all the playing staff and management team to have been born in the North West of England, the English equivalent of

Athletic Bilbao, who have an unwritten rule to only recruit staff from the Basque Region of Spain

Not having saved enough money up yet to buy the Club, I'm going to have to hope someone else can at the very least get us back to being half decent both on and off the pitch

Good luck to Mr Laurent Banide and Mr Bouziane Benarabi

Hopefully you can build a strong team ethic we can be proud of, play attractive attacking football and our fans will come back in numbers

    :chubb:

I this most are consigned to the fact this cannot turn out well with Lemsagem at the helm

Such a random appointment who likely has no knowledge of the club further screams puppets

No reason to like or dislike the bloke, I just have assumptions as to why he's here and in what capacity

With regards to the language barrier, Mauricio Pochettino spoke no English and required a translator in interviews when he first arrived at Southampton. It's clearly not posed a problem to him in becoming a success.

Didn't he speak conversational English, and used a translator because he didn't want his words manipulated by the press?

  8. I don't sign up to iFollow or LaticsPlayer or whatever it is nowadays so I may be out of the loop, I just find it odd there's not been a single interview with the new manager 3 days since his appointment.

Not a peep on any free-to-air platform, not even the announcement article.

    What's that all about?

We've conceded 4,5,6 and 7 there. Maybe as well concede 8.

and how many of the current squad/staff were there to witness those defeats?

doesn't matter a jot that we’ve lost there before

half our team hadn’t heard of Oldham Athletic two seasons ago...

  10. Let’s be honest, this club will be run to the ground before fans are mobilised again

Abdallah will be pissing himself: supposed boycott, he drops the price and we get the highest attendance of the season

Trust might as well get their nose out of it now, he and everybody else knows they don’t have the active backing of the vast majority of fans

Hopefully Abdallah isn’t such a bellend, we can only hope
