Most teams in our division have players that cost as much as them some already relegated. For example  in terms of financial clout we are well behind Bury who started the season with a seasoned and previously successful manager.

So we’re financially competitive then and do in fact have money?

  2. I still favour Rochdale to stay up over us.

Charlton are a better side than Northampton obviously but Rochdale have scored in 8 of their last 9 games. We've failed to score in 6 of the last 10

Without looking into it I’d have thought defensive heroics on the last day are quite commonplace, and despite losing the other day I reckon Rochdale will go into their match with more confidence than our shattered side

Would reactions be the same if he'd started off with poor results and then improved them?

I’m never in favour of hiring a caretaker manager. It’s impossible to isolate the reasons for an upturn in form when a manager is sacked, and certainly can not be wholly attributed to the new man in charge’s tactical astuteness

    *Drop Fane

    *Play Nepo

*Offer a £2000 scoring and assist bonus

*Offer a £2000 clean sheet bonus to back 4 and goalkeeper

*Buy the player Nandos for tea if we win

Football League won’t like that if Accy Stanley are anything to go by

this lot are dragging our Club into the bottom tier of English Football for the first time since 1973-1974

we're all but down if you look at both AFC Wimbledon and Walsall have a game in hand on us, and we've played both in recent weeks but could only scrape a point in each game AND Rochdale have a better goal difference than us which is worth a point.

these days the bottom two in League 2 drop into Non League Football :jailed:

What’s worst is that the chronic mismanagement and lack of investment over the past 10 years render it a total non-story. It’s been a waiting game which has been realised this season.

Few on twitter seem to think davies had a good game and Holloway did nothing when he came on. Thought they were joking at first!

I think we’d have picked up more points than we have with Nepo and Holloway as regular starters

  7. Next instalment in ‘biggest game of ...’

How does Wellens pull this side together? Proper wingers possibly and Nepo out of the exile. Byrne central surely. Holloway from the start? Drop Fane and go for it? Does Nazon keep his place?

Do we reduce prices to a fiver to get to get a crowd in? Appeal to fans to create a din which we reserve for away matches and the FA Cup?

Part of me thinks we’re done for either way, given how poorly we’ve utilised some really talented players, but we may only need one flukey victory to stay up

a character issue! as if they aren't bothered,, no not a chance. this is down to wellens and them understanding how to play and he's responsible for motivating and coaching them to do the jobs he wants from them. if they don't he has a number of options at his disposal as we have a large squad that could play a number of formations. he doesn't he keeps picking the same team so it can't be lack of character or they'd be dropped. we all know bryne doest work hard, we've all seen it all year thats how he plays he should have worked out how to get him in the team and win by now. davies constantly selected over AHH who looks more of a threat and nazon played as a wide left striker, again not his position. they look disjointed, they look like they will concede goal nearly every opposition attack, how can you win games like that with lob sided formations. that isn't down to character, wellens is fully responsible, more than enough in this squad to be at least mid table and he's had long enough to sort out what his best team is.

You're not wrong and I agree with many points about selection errors, but a side who misses as many chances as we did tonight and plays the way we did in a clutch local derby definitely isn’t all right. That’s not to say they aren’t bothered. In past seasons Shez has extracted a lot from a little, and must’ve created a resolute mentality within the squad. Wellens has been unable to do that and it’s demonstrated by all the nearly results we’ve had in the latest run of draws - under Shez we’d have won half of them and been safe by virtue of that mentality he breeds.

  9. I'd look elsewhere even if we manage to contrive a way to survive. To extract so little from this side shows Wellens isn't ready yet, and the approach against Rochdale was so far off what I expect to see from a Latics side.

Perhaps a position underneath somebody with more experience is what is required at the moment for him.

What team does he pick Saturday when probably 8 don't deserve  to start?

You'd struggle to put out a passionate case for any at present. Doyle and Byrne are first names on the team sheet for me, defence and centre mid picks itself because we have no others. Holloway in for Davies, who was awful tonight, then take your pick from the rest

Unfortunately however it's a character issue, and I'm not sure selection decisions can fix that at this point

He has a point though Byrne was shite tonight, an utter shadow of the player we thought we had signed.

He layed it on a plate for the strikers on numerous occasions...

He’s there to create chances and he did that enough times. The players who couldn’t hit a barn door are the ones who were shite

Fuck me. Garbage. Davies and Byrne particularly! I don’t care if Jack is out ‘best’ player, he was crap again tonight. Utter crap.

He made enough chances for us to equalise tonight.

Doyle was shit and should’ve scored 5 but he doesn’t fit the Byrne mould for you to give abuse

And a similar rise of non league clubs to the FL, with more like Fylde and Salford to get there in the next few seasons.

It's surprising to me being such a large borough no one has substantially invested in a Tameside club to take them into the FL.

The one with most potential would probably Curzon Ashton with its scope stadium development.

Everybody supports City or United. How would a club market itself as a conglomerate of Tameside?

I wouldn't necessarily disagree but I suspect that most people's idea of a traditional strip is whatever the side were wearing when the bug bit.

Will it be memorable in 10 years time? As long as they use the traditional colours I think that’s the first point that should be considered when designing a strip. It’s not exclusive to us that manufacturers have abandoned that idea over the past few years in favour of very plain, very neutral designs. This season’s Nike template is about as bland as there has ever been

From a Northampton review on their site off a Bratfurd fan from last season...

"What you thought on seeing the ground, first impressions of away end then other sides of the Sixfields Stadium?

I'm not very keen on these out of town stadiums. My only lasting impression of Northampton's ground is if you ever played them on the last day of the season and needed three points to win the title and only got 1000 tickets 8000 could still stand outside for free and see three quarters of the pitch!"

Tailor made review for us that!!

It’s actually very tempting to make the most of watching the match with a few cans and freedom from being herded around by plod

So would you say that starting with Doyle, Nazon, Davies & Obadeyi is not going for it?

3 decent attacking players isn’t going for it

Plus relative to the players on the bench, would you call Obadeyi an attacking selection? I wouldn’t

  17. Was that Gardner and Fane getting absolutely done for their second? Poor if so.

What does Holloway have to do to get a start in this team? Doyle can’t get a goal at the moment and we’re not playing the lad who complements his partnering strikers better than anybody else.

We’ve got a couple of kids in defence and all our best players are forwards. Surely we have to go for it a bit more to pick up results. You’ve got to think that just the one win will keep us safe. Perhaps Wellens thinks it will be achieved through a grinding one-goal win...
