Having been fooled by the publicity back then I do feel guilty about how I felt now that I know who was to blame, however an enforced contribution would be wrong. It doesn't matter how the Liverpool fans behaved, it doesn't matter how much they had drunk the place was a death trap. The police, the owners/operators of the ground and the FA all need to take responsibility for what they caused. If someone is there collecting I will happily throw a quid in.

The budget is related to income, income has gone down so the projected budget would have been higher than the actual amount now available. With a wages cap the poor will get poorer and the rich richer. In the long run attendance will determine league position and this is why SC wants the new stand as this should encourage more to attend.

Whoever, whatever, whenever (after 30/35 minutes) what matters is that the coaching staff got it right and Dickov made the change. Call him what you like but HE did it and HIS (and OURS) team won. Support is what matters.

The more he plays the better he gets. It is not just better support but also his improved ability to not only win the ball but to direct it as well. I want to see him partnered with Dan Taylor.

No chance we are going to defend. Now I have just been told a joke I can't repeat but the idea that we are going to get anything by going there to defend is an even bigger joke.

It has to be Simpson on the bench and Taylor/Smith up front with Baxter in the midfield. The team you pick will lose. We are not there for a point but there to win so go for it........

It doesn't look like anybody is going to be brought in. It seems it is down to the three of them and PD must have had a real shock to his system. Walking off at Scunthorpe was not a good sign. PD has many things but motivating the players week after week is not one of them.

We have a replacement for Wabara, a replacement for Derbyshire but we would miss Baxter more than anyone. Can't see us getting any points until Yeovil call so HELP!!!!

Strange as we could actually have the team we want. One holding midfield player in Furman and one attacking creative midfield player in Baxter (No No and No again he is not a striker). With Dan Taylor and Smith up front, M'changama instead of Montano and the usual suspects at the back. If we go there with the old formation, as I suspect, hoping to nick a win we will get hammered. Must go and try to score more goals than they do - lets have a 3 2. We have got the next three league games to recover (can anyone see us getting anything from the next three?) and Corney wants the young players to get games.

Playing an attacking line up with Smith and another up front with Baxter behind would not simply be relying on him. When he is there on his own we are relying on him. With Dan Taylor or a loan signing like Derbyshire beside him we can win both ways. The long ball becomes an option that works as well as passing the ball from the back.

The problem has been doing one thing or the other rather than a mixed plan of attack.

We have to use the players we have and given the improvement in Smith because Dickov has been forced to play him that for me is the way to go.

Baxter is neither a target man nor a Derbyshire style striker - he is a creative midfield player who not only scores from dead ball situations but also from open play - let him run the show with license to go wherever he wants and if he is here for the rest of the season build the team round him with two up front.

We are set up to defend and that is no longer working so lets go for it and win 3 2 like the good old days.

You will get your wish after Forrest. Myself I rather liked the 3 5 2 and still see Baxter as a creative midfield player - he certainly couldn't take advantage of the balls won by Smith.

The best managers have usually been there for a long time. SC must still see a good manager in PD and is giving him more time. We don't need this or that household name to support him we just need the right man for the job. Somebody that played in the right way, with passion and pride in the shirt. Someone that can instil in an ever changing squad this pride and passion. Most of what we want is not about ability it is about the character of the player. Someone who is here to play football and not just to pick up their pay.

I just wonder how many people who have posted here took the trouble to read the statement first. The three on gardening leave have been treated fairly by SC because they have the opportunity to look for another job, to discuss severance terms or if they do nothing will eventually have their contracts terminated. I'm sure I saw somewhere that Paul Gerrard does not work here full time so I suspect he has other commitments but is now being asked to step up to assist Dickov. He may be given the choice to go full time or leave. Corney and his board have not lost faith in Dickov they obviously think the team assembled did not work but as I see it Paul has another chance to get it right - I suspect he will have more help in deciding who to appoint and I doubt if we will see a team of five again.

The point I think is to use what you have. With Smith up front and Baxter falling back into the midfield Dickov had to do something. I hope we are all agreed that he did the right thing by going 3 5 2. Not only was it the right thing it also worked. [The wrong thing was Millar for Croft when, I agree, either Mellor or Hughes would have been better. Which did not work and lost us the game.] We keep complaining but when the right thing is done we should also say so.

Those players not in the Dickov 1st list are however put under great pressure when they do get a chance so it is not surprising that Millar tried so hard, headless chicken, and got it wrong. What was surprising is that a player who is 'not ready' and hence under great pressure scored a goal which Derbyshire would be proud to claim. What it means is that he is ready to play a part and given our situation why not let him start at Scunthorpe a game we need to win and can only do so if we score.

Does that mean we have nine games we can win? Always look on the bright side of life! Three more draws against the top 12 and seven wins against the rest should do it! Hmmm bright side what bright side?

The first substitution was forced as M'Changama looked injured. The second substitution was a good move although forced by going a goal behind. When Millar came on for Croft I am lost for words that can be printed....................

51 has gone down. It does however look like less than 50 could do this year even as low as 46 might be enough. We all think we are bad but don't forget there are still six teams below us of which five have less than a point a game. We are not the only frustrated set of fans. Surprisingly therefore our 26 from 25, soon to be 26 from 26 with the players looking forward to Forest, is still 5 above the relegation places.

Jose either forgot he was the second striker and drifted further back as the game went on, and was not told to get forward, or his brief was to leave Smith up front on his own winning the ball more often than not, causing havoc amongst their defence, with no one, until Dan came on, to take advantage of it.

He would enjoy his time if he was playing - no doubt he has dreams and can see them slipping away. Oldham is not the most exciting place to keep the bench warm.

It isn't Smith it is the way he has been used. I'm sure he could forge a partnership with Dan Taylor but that simply isn't going to happen. Taylor will not start the next game even if Smith does.

We have not performed as an attacking unit during 2012 but what concerns me is that we are now leaking at the back. 8 goals in 3 games! What concerns me more is that there is no next just more of the same.

Smith had a good game. He missed the sitter and then had a good goal disallowed. He put himself about. He wanted to be there. I just want to see him start with Dan Taylor who clearly does have goals in him. Not ready what bollocks!
