  1. Tactics first half simply did not work. The 4 4 2 was wrong because the middle four is concave with Wes and Furman in front of the back 4. Our wings were easily marked out of the game and although Matt wins the ball he only once passed it to his own side. There was a big hole which is where Simpson should be. Second half was much better with Simpson and Baxter because everything was joined up. Another two points lost and still on course after six games for relegation.

  2. The ball went in, the ref turned and pointed towards the centre circle and started walking away from the goal. The goalkeeper stayed down and the refs attention was drawn to this and went back and signalled a free kick. I'm convinced he awarded the goal and then changed his mind because the keeper was down. It's the drab blue kit, nothing has gone right for us in it!

  3. Grounds had a poor game. He is much better than this. First goal was ball watching and Grounds was at fault. 2nd was a freak can't blame Cisak. Lets be positive we have two good goalkeepers. Two points lost - how will we throw it away on Tuesday?

No seriously there is the makings of a top league one side. Croft and Montano did everything we needed and Baxter took control. If we play with more freedom the errors will go - concentrating too much is as bad as too little. They have lacked awareness and the pass back to Cisak is wrongly the default choice - coaching is still wrong.

  4. Cisak was unlucky for the second, Grounds asleep for the first. Dickov should not have let Simpson take the penalty given his lack of confidence and the mess he made of the earlier free kick. Derbyshire was somewhat displeased by the penalty and when he was substituted but Baxter was a revelation - he took charge and wanted the ball. Smith offside for the injury time goal. The officials just not good enough. However two points lost.

  5. I don't think either will be fully match fit. I just wonder what Matt Smith thinks about all this. (Will Dan Taylor even make the squad?) Plays well for two games and it looks like he is back on the bench. It is great to have options up front but our results have been poor because of the defensive errors which rob the whole team of confidence. So lets hope it is 3 2 tomorrow with goals for Derbyshire, Baxter and Smith when he spells one of them late on.

  6. Interesting player who had shingles earlier this year so don't expect him to be fit! Quote from 'Vital Nottingham Forest' blog

"When he joined the club he seemed genuinely happy and excited. He put in a couple of somewhat decent performances early on but his form dropped right about the time we started to look like a relegation side, and then he got shingles.

The lad hasn't had a pre-season, hasn't had a run of games, and we have no proof that he has done anything other than get ill and injured. IMO IF

(and it is a big if as the club has kept the fans completely in the dark about this and in turn set MD up to be a bit of a target which may not be fair [again, we don't know if he deserves our sympathy and respect or not]

), he is as committed as he seemed on signing, if he is enthusiastic and passionate about the game and performing for us, if he works towards getting fit and well in the next 2/3 months and has a full pre-season, then we've got potentially a very good striker at the club if we keep the likes of GMc, Reid, Majewski, Guedioura, and Dex in the side providing ammo.

I will not write the lad off simply because the club hasn't told us one way or the other what is really going on here."

Lets hope all goes well for us.

  7. It is clear! They are treating him but we are stuffed unless they call him back. Will the chickens do the right thing by us or is it another lesson for PD? Loans are risky. We need to build a team and play our own people and yes Smith has played better than anyone hoped. If Taylor is so good put the pair up front and see what our players can do - the ones that we expect to play for the shirt and not loans who idle around getting experience at our expense. I'm sorry for Slew but hope this is the last we see of him.

  8. Any money held back will now have been lost by two cup exits and the slump in support. If Corney has money why would he give it ti Dickov when Slew was has number one target - a guy that gets injured by turning to shoot and who probably has an agreement to start when fit. Smith has demonstrated how bad that piece of business was and Smith is improving.

My experience of management is that you have to have every approach at your disposal because each member of your team is different. Being nice works for some but whatever he is doing is taking away confidence hence the stupid mistakes. Shouting at a child because he isn't getting it right does not work. Standing on the touchline with your arms folded is the worse signal you can give - I'd rather he went outside the ground for a blow! Something is wrong - it is not working - the team is going backwards.

  9. Just more evidence that Dickov has lost the plot. The more you dwell on mistakes the more careful players become the more likely you are to make mistakes. It's the looking over the shoulder thing, figuratively speaking because those back passes, which stops us going forward when we are in front. Shouting at them and making them work harder is not the answer. I've now given up on Dickov and hope Corney has given him a final warning.

  10. Unfortunately you can only blame the manager when players consistently perform poorly. Simpson is now doing a Kuqi. So much promise and high hopes reduced to performances which leave us all pissed off. We have seen good performances from all these players but the sum of the parts has given us a very poor 2012. You could live with such a poor start if we finished last season well. Our reasonable expectation is that it isn't going to get better and clearly this is relegation form. The sentence for season ticket holders this season, from a group of players that I think could keep us up, is a demoralising, frustrating series of (your own word here). Dickov might make a good manager one day but it looks like this attempt has failed. Judging by Chesterfield we would do better with no manager!

  11. Given the collapse in support I can't see how Lactics can pay the players they have so I don't anticipate any new signings. The squad is as thin as the money and injuries are going to happen. I want to see a proactive manager and so far PD has just reacted. I still hope he can be the one and agree that sitting in the stand would be a good idea.
