That's strange because very few were suggesting the squad was a shambles at the time of his appointment.

Surely a big reason for appointing the promotion specialist was that he'd be doing his best work in the championship rounds, not scrambling to finish a few places higher from when he started?

I'd say that the majority recognised that the squad had major deficiencies, albeit we haven't really addressed some of them (a right back foremost). For me Mellon has tailed off but deserves next season to see where he can get us, I would wager that 10 games into a new season we won't be sitting just outside the relegation places.

That’s very fair of you. TBH I’m the same, I don’t think I’ve ever booed Latics off, just fled as soon as the whistle goes and got as far away as possible. It’s fine to say that fans pay their money so have the right to boo, I get it, but it’s not like complaining about a product or service in the real world. This is football, and it’s our club, that we love in spite of everything. I just walk away, always have, or, worse, don’t go to the game.

The booers (is that a proper word), are a minority, I'm like you, applaud them off when we win or play well, other than that it's a head down hasty exit.

I don't like his style of play, chopping and changing or playing square pegs in round holes.

I say what I see and perhaps a few others should too instead of making excuses.

In all my 60 years watching the Latics I've never seen a team as booed off the field as much as this one -and I've seen  some very poor teams in that time.

Let's see what he does about it next season, I'm prepared to see  what happens.

If he can find a few more like Josh Stones it may not be as bad again.

TBF BP the booing is more symptomatic of society nowadays, years ago we took the football for what it was. I blame social media.

Conlon, what a disappointment this lad has been. I hope it’s just his midfield partners making him look bad but he’s so one footed and constantly out of position, it’s bizzare.

The audacity for the prick to come over and clap at the end of the game like the big I am, tit. He’s crap and if his family have talked him out of being here then just fuck off.

I'm sorry but anyone who has to play alongside Nathan Sheron in midfield gets a get out of jail free card.

As @doctor evil said it's where the player impacts the play, i.e. where he touches the ball.

    See paragraph 4 of https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-11---offside

The law changed in summer 2018.

Thanks, I didn't know the rule had changed, I also didn't know that the rule had changed that a goalkeeper can handle the ball outside his area.

I'm posting on twitter because of the trolls on here, it's less personalised on there I've found.

Anway I've got flu and so has my wife and I've lost any interest in the next game - which I won't be attending.

Incidentally, England were very good apart from a couple of mistakes I thought last night.

Don't let them get to you Alf. And hope you get well soon, I was fortunate to get flu and missed 2 home games.
