  1. 5900 ish home fans on a pissing down Tuesday Night while sat in the 5th divisions relegation zone after 1 win in 9 is some going to be fair.

Not much to add on the performance after what most have said in here. Nuttall Sheron and Hobson where outstanding, a couple others not too far behind either. The players overall just looked so much happier. Nuttall looked like the happiest man on the planet after his goal.

York where neat and tidy but rather toothless in the final third. Both sides will be way higher in the table come the reverse fixture though.

Good win last night. We need to back it up on Saturday now though.

Its baffling that people think Frank is making the call on "shifting players out before bringing any in"

Surely this is actually a Darren Royle call, who will be working to a pre-approved budget.

Why wouldn’t he make that call? It’s his club and his money. Unsworth has actually confirmed in the interview with BPAS that Frank/the Family have put a block on some signings/potential spending while he has been here.

I could very much see him looking at our current wage bill, then hearing Unsworth/Darren want to bring in another midfielder and he says hang on lads try and shift a couple first (don’t know this for fact but it makes sense). Even if we sign a midfielder today with no outgoings, I can’t imagine the conversation hasn’t taken place recently to try and shift a couple.

There’s no way Frank isn’t involved financially on the football side of things. Do you not think he would have had to give the green light on spending a 6 figure transfer and quarter of a million a year in wages on bringing in a top end L1 striker?

Having said all of the above, We do need a midfielder though 😂

Absolutely they could appoint another captain, but they won’t, and it doesn’t negate from the fact he doesn’t deserve dropping as he’s been better than the others IMO.

Agree I think Hogan has been the best of the defenders so far in pre season and last week. Raglan was woeful at Southend (most where tbf). I think he’ll keep the 3-5-2 shite but if it was me, I’d play a back 4 of Freeman, Hobson, Hogan, Kitching

Small point, but pleading to Frank (or any of the Rothwell's) to pull the plug is a bit pointless.

Didn't they say they left all of the playing side of stuff to Darren and don't get involved?

They did, however Frank hasn’t become a millionaire businessman watching large investments flounder/perform poorly. I’m virtually certain if results don’t pick up immediately he will act. He won’t just sit back if we’re bottom half (or worse) in November.

We have paid 6 figures for 2 strikers while also buying Lundstrum. Our wage bill will be the highest in the league or just below Chesterfield. I’d be very surprised if Norwood isn’t the highest paid player in the division even more than Grigg.

He’ll be backed again by getting a Right Back in this week and I wouldn’t be surprised to see us try and bring in another Midfielder, especially with Ward now seemingly out for a few weeks.

I actually think if we’re not firmly cemented in the Play off places 7 or so games in he’ll be gone. The board can’t risk this season going to shit after the investment/backing he’s had.

Promotion is the aim without a doubt. Next year EFL Payments increase don’t they? Plus our parachute payments stop? We have to be in the mix for it this season and if Unsworths not up to it I’m sure Frank will act quickly.

This is the thing which intrigues me the most. Whats the preferred formation? We seem top heavy with strikers and centre halfs. Strength in depth is all good but how do you fit Hobson, Raglan and Hogan in to the side, along with Reid, Nuttall, Willoughby and Fondop, all of the above would get in to majority of sides in the league. You can play 4-3-3 and potentially fit in 3 forwards, but then one of the centre halfs misses out. You can play 3-5-2 but then strikers miss out. It’s a good problem to have.

Yep, agreed Daniel very good problem to have.

I'll be surprised if it's not 3-5-2 more often than not, at least initially:

    Norman

    Raglan Hogan Hobson

New RWB, Lundstram Sheron Ward Kitching

    Willoughby Nutall

That's what I expect on the opening day/opening few games. I'm a big fan of Reid but I think Unsworth will stick with Nuttall and I see Willoughby being given a good go initially - barring a marquee signing like Dallas coming in. Maybe Shelton for Ward as I believe Ward has said he's more of a winger/drift into CM type player and Shelton runs around a lot (Unsworth loves that).

Hands up if you've bought one? And more importantly, why?

I was against it for Months...but you know what...a few Saturdays in a row went by...and I was absolutely bored as F...the mrs works shifts, often on Saturdays so its not like we can have trips here there and everywhere weekly instead. The majority of the lads (I'm 26 btw) are now starting to get settled down and have their own lives with their own Girlfriends. I'm not a huge drinker so just going out every weekend isn't for me. To be honest....It's just what I do. I go football, with the old man. So I thought sod it.

Bit of habit, bit of routine, it's just what I/We being me and my dad do. We go to footie on a Saturday. That will go away eventually due to natural causes no doubt (hopefully way way way way way down the line) but until then, Going footie with My Dad having a right good moan on the terraces, on a Saturday is just what I do. It's as Simple as that.

Why so low? We've taken a thousand or so to Doncaster on a couple of occasions. It's the 4th round of the FA Cup. Rarity innit.

The negativity of the draw and the fact we've taken about 500-1000 (at the very most, probably 800 or so last year?) the past few times at their place.

I'd say we probably have a top 10 side that should be aiming at top 7 we were within striking distance of that target at the turn of the year so we didn't really need to sack the manager if we were in the bottom 3rd or so that would be sufficient reason to sack the manager.

That said what worries me more than Bunns departure is The owners temperament and desion making. He simply shouldn't be going in the dressing room in any game and he shouldn't be interfering like he has been. Until that changes the managers position will continue to be a carousel that will be no good to anyone at the club as it will create a culture of volatility.

Slowly slowly appears to be the club's motto but also that of the owners learning curve he should by now have learned that the interference is bad for the team and the club as a whole that's the sanctuary of the coaching staff and the players and what goes on there stays between them. He is entitled to let the manager know if a performance is unacceptable or in exceptional circumstances say a run of bad defeats or a Significantly bad one that he is unhappy but that should be in training or a team meeting the following day.

I actually believe he cares and that his motives are right as far as being a football owner is concerned. However he has to start acting like one abit more.

I agree, I think he actually cares but he simply can't be storming into a dressing room after a loss to a team in the play offs who on the day had a striker who's capable of well above this level outplay us.

Overall I thought we where the better side in the game...seems such an OTT reaction to go storming into the dressing room if he did.

Like you say it does seem like he actually cares but perhaps too much. If he does care enough to go storming in and kicking off at 1 loss (after being unbeaten in 6) in a game we played quite well in, then really he needs to be spending some serious ££ to be winning consistently.

  9. Heard that Surridge is headed to Pompey and that we have asked about loaning Kean Bryan. I do think Bryan will be back here come Jan.

I can see a few teams coming in for Hunt. He hasn't set the world alight but tends to give a consistent performance and is only young. I know a few Championship sides where sniffing in summer.

To someone mentioning the Preston scout at the Exeter game, I'm pretty sure they have bid for Stockley and have met his buyout clause as have a few championship sides. Not surprising really.

Would be really surprised if some aren't looking at Edmundson too (again, no inside knowledge but my thinking). Up until recently we had barely conceded any away and he's what, 21/22 with I believe the 2nd most 'ball recoveries' in the league. Very comfortable on the ball and is always our 'ball playing centre half' when Iversen has it. Looked very good this season bar a few hiccups and a wobbly 20 minutes against Akinde for Lincoln. I think Sunderland where watching him last season.

Wonder if the #Frenchlads are catching the eyes of any...Maouche has been on fire lately but early days for him year, think teams will want to see a few more months of performances from him.

Have seen us linked with the lad from Barnsley mentioned above as well as a striker from Blackburn...Think it was Joseph Nuttall
