    He'll be 77 in October

On a similar note Keith Bebbington will be 75 on the first  day of the season. See him and have a chat most Saturdays at Belle Vue where he has a share in  a few dogs. He looks really well the only noticeable change being on top of his head. Was a bit put out when the Ford Stand was demolished referring to it as "our stand" (i.e. one the player's won).

Bowie was about 6'2" and an excellent passer of the ball. He always looked lazy but was very deceptive when running and covered the ground quicker than you thought. I don't recall him running very far at a time, though. A very good midfielder.

Agree with all that, I was referring to him playing at Nos. 4 and 6 in that line up !

If I was a defender and saw Fryatt running at me, I'd try to kick him so I could get sent off and not have to face him again. He was one tough cookie.

In answer to the OP, the result was 1-1, Fryatt was the scorer and the attendance was 11,988.

    The team that day was:

    1 Dowd

    2 Wood

    3 Whittle

    4 Bowie

    5 Cranston

    6 Bowie

    7 Heath

    8 Shaw

    9 Fryatt

    10 Bryceland

    11 Bebbington

12 Sweeney - sub on for Bebbington

I can remember that Big Jim Bowie was versatile but didn't think he got about the pitch that much !

And to how many games must a 'fan' go to become a proper 'non outrageous' fan?

Are the trenches of league 2 much deeper and more waterlogged than the trenches of league 1?  Hyperbole of a level Boris would aspire to.

Think he's saying that he's seen him enough times to form and offer his opinion on the player. We all have our favourites and boo-boys, it doesn't make our opinion infallible.

For myself he's showed a bit more commitment than a lot of his teammates last season and for that reason I'd keep him.

Don't know about trenches I was born after the Great War.:)

“We have asked how much would it be to rent on a yearly basis and at the moment it's something we can't consider committing to”

....it’s such a sad state of affairs when 1. We have to rent space from our home of over 100 years to be able to set up a supporters bar & 2. For the landlords to price us out. Blitz & gazal can fook off.

For me, if Abdallah wanted to show some solidarity with the supporters, he’d rent the space for us.

It's just not a viable proposition at that rate whoever is to pay for it. With regard the daily useage - every pub in the country is trying to achieve this, and lots are failing and closing. Admittedly we may have a loyal fan-base who will use on a novelty basis initially but after a while their enthusiasm will dwindle. For me, and I don't have a drink pre-match, the old shop or somewhere in the main stand would be the preferred option open only on match days and for "special events". We all nostalgically long for the Boundary Club but I think we need to walk before we can run. Sorry to be a bit negative but I've a bit of experience in local social clubs and it's a hard game !

I'm really hoping we turn things round. I'm not full of belief though.

I was full of hope that AL would do something different, but It's just feel like Groundhog Day.

Same here, but I think the problems facing him are a little greater than he was led to believe. I was hoping that we could push on, albeit from a division lower, this season but being a realist think consolidation may be the order of the day. Here's hoping for a good season whatever transpires !

    Really?

He's a15 goal a seaosn man, with a record identical to Stuart Barlow.

I hope it's not his "name", but his coaching skills.

I really hope it works out.

Strikers are not just judged on goals scored thankfully. The partnership he forged with Andy Ritchie was instrumental in our best period of football any of us can remember. His hold up play and work off the ball created loads of space for Ritchie and Palmer to run into and take the chances that got us to those golden times.

Think you're spending so much time on here the pessimist bugs are catching. ( I don't do smiley faces ! )

  8. Going to buck the trend a little here. Almost to a "man" posters have been saying they're underwhelmed with this appointment and wanted everyone from Scholes to Pep as our boss "but will get behind Frankie".

I like Bunn as a person (although I've never met him); he's an experienced coach at league level; experienced manager (albeit not at league level); has an affinity with the club (which could be an important link between the supporters and Abdallah's new regime); and is apparently well respected in the game.

As for not being able to gain the respect of some of the self-centered little pricks who engineered our demise last season then all well and good. If they'd shown half the courage and determination Bunnie showed playing when half-fit and injured during our golden period we'd be playing Sunderland this season not Forest Green Rovers.

I for one will back Frankie Bunn as our manager without condition and hope it results in an enjoyable season, which is long overdue.

  9. Surely the Trust's primary task is a link between club and fans. They may well know more than they pass on, that's the way business and life works. To measure the information they relate with someone who obviously has a mole(s) within the club isn't a fair comparison in my opinion. Perhaps they do know more than they're letting on but it could be sensitive information that needs confidentiality which posters on here are not constrained by. If we all passed on the rumours we've heard either directly or indirectly from people apparently within the club there'd be even more shit on here than there already is.

  10. Que sera sera.

It really doesn't make any difference that what's happening behind the scenes at Boundary Park isn't being reported by the Trust at this stage. We should all stand back for the time being until a truer picture emerges. Until then all this conjecture and speculation on here and other places just serves to wind people up and give the doom mongers the platform they crave.

Or knows he’s been completely found out and is going back to a level he knows he will look like gods gift

absolutely shite every time I saw him and claiming that goal was criminal

Personally I think he may be an asset to the club. Again I have to say that some people on here may have a strong opinion before giving a bloke a chance. I watched him at the public training session and he looked pretty good.

With regards the goal "claimed" if it's not going in and hits you it's your goal ( and I thought it was just a bit of light heartedness between him and Byrne that he claimed it ).

We get a little too intense at times !

No thank you to Steve Cotterill, Stephen Pressley, Robbie Nielsen, Paul Ince or Gary Megson. And don't even get me going on the possibility of Lee Clark, Darren Ferguson or Graham Westley.

I'd be happy with Scholes, Rosler or Warburton. but I've a feeling it will either be Johnny Foreigner or somebody that no bugger on here will ever want.

Some people are born optimists, some born pessimists. I know which ones enjoy life more ! Would agree with this post but whoever gets the job should be given a decent crack at it ( i.e. at least a full 12 months). It seems to me that the people who appoint managers are too quick to sack them just to cover up their error in appointing them.

It is a short career and as such players need to make as much money for their families as they can during that period.

Whilst agreeing with what you say, this bit always puzzles me. For sure they, like everyone else, need to maximise their earnings but it's as if people think their lives end in their early thirties. There's nothing to stop them getting a "normal" job for the rest of their working lives. It's a bit like pieceworkers who can't make the same bonuses in later life that they did in their prime and need to get a transfer to non-production jobs. As the saying goes "make hay while the sun shines !"

I have no heard any of these stories. Any good?

Looking at a Rochdale forum confirms all these things are correct, in as much as any forum accurately mirrors the overall fanbase.

The season ticket prices were lowered dependent on how many were sold and the goalposts moved a few times when the targets weren't hit; the regular announcer resigned when he moved house but was allowed to return when he changed his mind putting his stand-in's nose out; the coaches to Wembley organised by the club were considerably more expensive than others; the end of season awards which offered young fans a chance to meet their heroes were to be a more "up market" black tie event and kids were banned though it was eventually cancelled; a director abused fans in the main stand during a match.

So you see it's not just our club who's able to shoot itself in the foot !!
