We spend too much time looking back when we should be looking forward.

Kasunga history is there for the making. However without history we would never progress forwards. I don’t think any of us on this forum spend too much time looking back. It’s a football forum and without history you would have very little to debate. So are you saying that we only talk about what things might happen in the future??? A football club like ours is nothing withou it’s history. I suppose your remark is typical of the thinking of a lot of youngsters of today. I am proud to say that my family have supported OAFC from its beginning and before that Pine Villa. The four generations have always been proud to support our great club in all leagues and divisions over the years. One day if you continue to support the club you will reflect on what has been in the past. It’s part of growing older and being able to support the team through thick and thin years. I hope you eventually have as many memories as I have, both good and bad.

Interesting interview with Warney on Football Focus. Wanted to make his players better people and would turn down better players in preference for ones with better character. He'd have had to do a cull from a few Latics squads over the years

I wonder what he would have done with Davies, Gerrard and Byrne?

Nah. It’s more like knowing what youre gettin for xmas, being excited for it, opening it, buzzing over it then it being inexplicably taken away and placed behind an impenetrable glass box for an unforseable amount of time. You also need to keep it with you for at least 50% of your day, six days a week. You can see it, it can see you and it wants you to play with it, but you can’t use it or ask questions about it. Then you get some more new presents but they are pretty shit compared to the one you can see, doesn’t matter still can’t use it. You also have to put a large chunk of your money into the box every seven days. Still can’t use it tho.

Another scenario which is closer to the truth. You are given a similar present the year before and it was excellent for 6 months then all of a sudden it became piss poor and didn’t function properly for the next few months. So you discarded it however when you received the present for a second time you are really not that fused to use it again because you know it’s unreliable and will never be any good so you decide to give it away. Ring any bells?????,

Cmon lads its 2018 please try and move on.

Why should we move on . We have great memories of great players and teams over the years that have represented OAFC. It’s great that we can reflect and look back on those great players and achievements that is the history of OAFC. Pity is that you are too young to have ever experienced them. Maybe just maybe you might one day .

Bobby Johnstone was far too good for the 4th Division, but he relished it.

Jack Byrne will never reach the highest levels of football that Booby Johnstone did. Full International caps for Scotland, played for Hibs at the highest level in Scotland and played for Man City . Scored in an FA Cup final. Winners medal for FA Cup. Byrne has a hell of a long way before he reaches any where near that standard. In his twlight years as a player played his socks off for OAFC and loved our club. He was a magician on and off the ball and also made you laugh because his antics on the pitch where very funny. You don’t see footballers with skill and talent taking the piss out of opponents on the field like he was able to do. Byrne and Johnstone should never be mentioned in the same breath.

Back on to the match...!  When was the last time we had three goalscorers scoring their first goals for the club in the same game?  I can't imagine it has happened too many times in the past.

Thank goodness at last someone with something different to talk about other than JB.

No need for that reply, he wasn't abusive to you.

Ok I get your point but I had only replied previously not to get personal and let’s see what the club has to say about the issue when it finally comes out. I hope this is the end of this long saga it’s getting boring.

You are talking tosh. Last week you said he’d definitely had his contract terminated already (he then made an appearance in the director’s box against Derby) and now you’re saying it’s imminent. If he’d done something as bad as you’re making out he’d have been sacked 7 weeks ago rather than continuing to pay him for the privilege of training with the youth team.

What information are you privy to when you’re all the way over in the Philippines? People like Lee Sinnott who are well connected with multiple sources at the club have said that they don’t know how this issue is going to be concluded. The decision is clearly Lemsagam’s.

It’s simply amazing how somebody who demands PROOF and SOURCES from well respected journalists and ex-players just assumes everyone is going to believe him on this. Beyond parody.

Ryan go and get stuffed or go and suck your dummy in a corner you stupid little turd. You are stupid because I don’t aim to be believed it’s an opinions forum . Not a believe everything you read forum. Get it?????

You are not allowed to criticise the team on this site so !!!!  there is no way Jack Byrne would have improved us today, he wouldn’t be intelligent enough to take the Giles Coke tactic of passing to their team and hoping he fucks up and he would be doing stupid things like trying to create chances against a god awful side and wanting the ball, if he ever starts the season ticket is on the pitch

That’s if he wanted to play for us which he doesn’t. On his day there is no comparison between Coke and Byrne but will you get it into your head Byrne is no longer committed to our club and does not want to play for the first team. If Byrne was committed then Coke would never get a game and Byrne would be the first name on the team sheet . HE NO LONGER WANTS TO PLAY FOR OAFC get it?????

    Christ. You talk absolute shite.

Really Ryan language. When the shit does hit the fan and the truth comes out it’s you who will look the idiot in believing that the sun shines out of Jack Byrnes arse. Let’s just wait and see hey and let’s not get personal until the club reveal in their own time what he’s done wrong.

It's part of the T&Cs of being a white person in the 3rd world that you don't need to see to much nastiness, doesn't mean it's not going on

I’ve lived in the second largest city in the Philippines now for several years. I know the back streets like the back of my hand and according to the political opposition there have been over 13,000 extra judicial killings. However I have seen none and my Filipino friends have seen none either. 13,000 is a hell of a lot so I would have thought that if it was going on then I would have seen one dead body lying in the gutter by now. Politics is an ugly game out here.

Could be drugs normally the main reason.

No worry of drugs here. I live in the Philippines and all this about people being killed is rubbish . Not seen one dead body yet in the streets. It’s a huge country 2000 miles north to south as big as Europe. I live in Cebu city but I’ve been 3 days in Manila on business. It’s a 1 hour flight but tonight it seems I am waiting an eternity. It’s 15 mins after midnight and still no news of the incoming aircraft . Well at least we won. Looked a decent game and o’Grady Looked sharper.

Wouldn’t be the first time I’d look like a prat so I’m not bothered about that. Just offering my take on the situation.

Also I’m not expecting him to play for us again either.

Fair comment. Up the Latics oh for a win today. Watching it in Manila International Airport my flight is delayed indefinitely. Could be here all night hehe

Yes! My first downboat in ages! Thanks smiler13! Too cynical of me to think that a contract extension is a precursor to a sale?

Well you came across cynical however I appreciate that all players at some stage in their career move on for a price if they show promise. I just hope that next time we sell a promising young player then we get a fair price for them and that clauses are put in place so we benefit if they are again sold on or gain international recognition

Not keen on Ronaldo as a person but struggle to see the comparison.

Bobledgersheart he doesn’t want to play for the club and he certainly has no commitment for the club. It’s a bit like last January when Davies refused to play for the club and wanted out. Putting a player like that into a stable team would be nothing more than detrimental. If of course he can apologise and get his commitment back then yes play him by all means but it would be suicide to do it until he is prepared to change for the cause of OAFC.

I know people who know Byrne.  They speak highly of him.

I think like in real life outside football (where there is often no one reason for most things that happen)  he can be arrogant and childish at times, but also believe he has done nothing to apologise for.

He’s still a young man. Talent might outweigh maturity in some circumstances.

Ultimately  I don’t think the club has done itself any favours in how this situation is being managed.

I think the “nobody is bigger than the club” is an easy line to throw out when there is a player to stitch up.

Very easy for a club to let the “bad egg” line run too.

There is a shit situation here and the club is trying to take the moral high ground. And I don’t believe the club on this one.

    That ‘s a real shame

    #fleejackbyrne

When the real truth comes out your statement above might make you look a gulable prat. Mark my words he’s suspended from the first team for very good reasons and you won’t see him playing in a Latics shirt again.
