  1. With the players we have at the moment I would predict mid table.  However if we sign 5 more quality players including a few loan players from premier league and we get gelling as a team then a play off place is not within our reach. Let’s see who comes in in the next few days. If the rumours true about the lad from Bournemouth then we could be looking forward to a decent season.

Not in the slightest but I am naturally sceptical about all betting pundits and they have proliferated massively. If they were any good they wouldn't need to pontificate on two bit websites propounding ill researched views; they'd have their feet up on the verandah of their Bahamian beach house.

The betting pundits can predict all they want but the transfer window has not been closed yet. For instance if we go and sign 5 quality players in the next few days then the pundits analysis could be chucked out of the window. Also you can never tell until a team has played a few games on how the players will gell together. If I remember rightly some pundits had Shrewsbury down for relegation last season because Hurst had signed players from lower leagues albeit players that he could trust to graft and play for the cause. So they got that badly wrong. Football is a funny old game and if you have players pulling together for one another, and you have the luck anything can happen.

was this aimed at me... I think that I clearly state I don't think he is a good player.  My point was that even if he was he would still deserve criticism for being a pillock.

No way was a personal attack on you. I was just trying to back up your point. Maybe I was not that clear so if you took offence I apologise

Gerrard was inconsistent last season. He was also selfish, but putting that aside... are you saying we have to like players who are good footballers no matter what their antics are and vice versa?

If I dont like a player I will say so regardless of their performances.   As it happens I think Gerrard is a bit of a pillock who is also unprofessional in his approach and erratic in his performances.

Do you really still think he’s a good player? I would place him in the catategory of he was a good player when he could be arsed to keep himself fit and his body in good shape. Pity is he’s not been in any good shape now for a couple of seasons. You cannot rely on your past performance when you are a footballer. You have to be judged on your current form and I am sorry to say he’s not been in good form for a long time now. Clarke is older but more fit than Gerrard will ever be.

Is Gerrard genuinely a bad influence in the changing room?  He’s been vocal on social media but that’s a result of what’s gone on within the club - late and unpaid wages, players being criticised in front of fellow players, special treatment for other players.

As I said in another post, some people are silent protestors but others aren’t.  You can’t stop them I’m afraid as it’s their character and their faults.

Gerrard is only saying what a lot of fans have previously said in past seasons.  It shows he cares.

Its fair to say he played through injury last season.  He tried to lead when others disappeared on the pitch.  He’s never been blessed with pace and he’s not getting younger but has he been that much of a liability?

If he can still do a job, which FB alluded to yesterday that he could, then he needs to be managed effectively.  In a work environment some react bad to change plus uncertainty and rely on communication and involvement.  Gerrard is one of those.  You need to use his character of being vocal and opinionated correctly and positively.

If if he can’t do a job then he’ll fester.  Best for both parties to move on.

He’s a tosser of  the first degree. Why did Huddersfield sack him???? Why wouldn’t any other club touch him with a barge pole before he signed for us??? I’ll tell you why . It’s because he spread untrue rumours at other clubs and the clubs chairman would not stand for it. So who says players where treated differently?? Was this a made up rumour or was it fact. Makes you wonder. I would not trust what he says about anything. It’s no wonder Bunn does not want him anywhere near the dressing room now he’s got settled players who want to fight for the club. The sooner he goes the better and then there will be one billy big balls left. Oh yes and Bunn says there could be a place for him , however he would have to change his ways not only his fitness but also learn how to control his mouth and what garbage that comes out of it.

I’m all for work ethic and discipline if it get results! But a butch of hard working has beens don’t get u promoted.

It has worked before for us when we where in the old division 4. You are perhaps too young to remember that and it also worked when we gained promotion from Division 4 to Division 3. We had lots of has been players but they worked well for each other and tried bloody hard to get us promoted. In these divisions the club can not afford to pay transfer fees so you have to get players that are prepared to graft bloody hard for the cause. The manager and players have to be in tune with what needs to be achieved. This league is not s league for players who think they are the next Ronaldo or Messi. It’s all about being able to grind out results by working together for the good of the club not for individual egos.

Benteke doesn't have 15 goals in a hundred apperances in him, okay he has some pace but that means little if you can't find the back of the net, he's as awkward in front of goal as Fane is passing it out from the back and if it wasn't for the fact he had a famous footballing brother we'd of never of given him a second look.

Let's face it and be honest with ourselves here we need two quality strikers and sharpish, this season isn't the one to be starting off with a partnership of a young raw forward coupled with an old carthorse, teams with far better strikers than what we currently possess - Barnet (Akinde) and Chesterfield  (Dennis) were relegated from the division we will be plying our trade in and it's imperative that this obvious weakness in the team is addressed.

He’s scored 3 pre season so he’s averaging better than 1-3 this season already. Maybe he’s going to prove you wrong.

And one has gone up a league, one has moved sideways-both for fees, another appears to be on his way sideways to Carlisle and the last some say could be the best in this league. So this doesn't really hold water does it?

The last can be the best in any league if he wanted. Problem is he can’t be arsed to put the work in and conform to discipline. Therefore after playing for a few clubs and managers, some of who have been very decent especially at Wigan and Blackburn he still has not learnt any lessons so maybe it’s time he left as well. If top managers cannot control his behaviour then there is little hope that he will ever go far in the world of competitive football
