Much needed 3 points but still not out of the mire and Wellens team selection and tactics questionable. Had no option to bring on Byrne and he changed the game as we know.
Benyu just tweeted the club asking Wellens to stop ignoring his calls and texts...says it all about his man management abilities

Never too late...

Great finish...still doesn't hide Wellens inadequacies
-
Starting this topic as we are 1-0 down at home to Blackpool with Wellens seemingly clueless
May be irrelevant if we turn it around but my view is we need a manager with experience or we will be relegated.
Still 7 games left after today and we have a squad capable of scraping together enough points to stay up... Mainly due to some really poor teams in and around us but that's OK.
Sack Wellens now and appoint someone like Graham Alexander short term to try and at least organise us and get the most out of what we have.
It's pretty clear Wellens just can't do this and is out of his depth
-
I'm sorry but have to agree.
Tactical experience is a must at this time of the season...as we have seen over the past few years.
You play to your strengths and do what you need to do, and Wellens isn't doing this or simply just doesn't know how to.
I don't like talking about Shez as he dug his own grave imo earlier this season, and at the time had to go.
But look at Fleetwood now. 6 games unbeaten since Shez appointed, 2 goals conceded and now pretty much safe. He knows what to do and get players to execute a plan.
We have the players but Wellens continued tactical nieveness really worries me now and unless he gets it right soon we will really be in the shit.
Next 3 games critical for Wellens otherwise I can see AL getting rid and trying someone else for the last 5 or 6 games.

Out for the rest of the season....not the best news

Contact the club - they might put something on the website, which should boost numbers
Hmmm.... Don't hold your breath with that one!

Great offer. And 48 quid for an under 18 season ticket is a brilliant deal.
Surely we should be marketing this offer to all the local schools and colleges, and U18 football teams etc in the area to entice in the next generation of fans.
Its not a difficult or costly exercise.
Or even offer a half season U18 season ticket for £24....pretty affordable for all and I'm sure this would get a few extras through the door.

2nd Blackpool H (Mon)
7th Oxford A
11th Walsall H (Wed)
14th Gillingham H
17th Rochdale A (Tues)
21st Wimbledon A
24th Southend H (Tues)
28th Doncaster H
So the 7 teams directly above us and Rochdale to play in April...5 games being at home. Then Northampton away to finish
If we can't get 12 points plus from that lot we deserve to go down.
Think we will need at least 52 points before Northampton to be safe, as most weeks teams from the bottom 10 are playing each other so will pick up points by default....us included.

Walsall being called off is not good.
Most around us play once or twice before we play again which is at the plastics and I don't fancy us to get anything there.
Recon we could be in the bottom 3 after that unfortunately and really under pressure.
Some massive games coming up we simply have to win.....hold on to your hats time I think!

This just magnifies our complete lack of commercial sense over the last 10 years by not adding simple financial clauses for international appearances.
It doesn't matter if its a one in a million chance....if a young player leaves for better things then it should be a no brainer...... But I guess we know the people who ran the club are bloody clueless anyway!
Good luck to him

Gonna be freezing Saturday. 0 degrees at best and wind chill of -8!!?️
Match fingers crossed should be OK if they cover the pitch properly. Really don't want another postponement

For those there yesterday what were your first impressions on Mceleny and how did he look?

As usual I'm contrary and actually like it.
There are teething troubles but these will be ironed out, does show how hard being a ref or lino actually is, they usually get most things right and if the technology is able to assist get more decisions right then I'm all for it. I don't even mind the delay, it needs the TV commentators to stop whinging and going on about the time it takes, sometimes the decision isn't clear cut even after multiple replays and I'd rather get correct decisions then not. Perhaps it would benefit from an 'Umpire's call' thing where even after several views of replays the VAR ref can't 100% guarantee the correct decisions it goes back to the decision the on pitch ref made? Maybe with a time limit?
Agree with most of this.
I was at the game last night with some mates who are Dale fans and by far the worst bit was the fans in the stadium not having a clue what was going on.
For me this fundamentally needs to be addressed and changed as we just stood there in the snow wondering what the ref was looking at and what the potential problem was.
The only info coming through even after the decision had been made was via text message from mates watching on TV.
If a goals disallowed the fans in the ground need to know why and immediately.

Looks like another free Saturday based on the weather forecast..cant see many games being on tbh..

We will be safe by then don't worry
Lets hope so and the last game be a none event as at Wimbledon last season.
I will be however just in case....be buying my ticket nice and early as from recollection Northamptons away end is not very big and only holds about 1000 which we would fill 4 times over if there was something on the game.
-
Could be a very tasty and nervy last day of the season with 7 out of the current bottom 8 playing each other!! Dale will be down by then anyway.....
Wimbledon v Bury
Shrewsbury v MKD
Fleetwood v Walsall
Northampton v Latics
-
Training wise the Roughyeds have a new artificial pitch this season. Why can't we train on there?
-
If we go down forget Doyle, Duck and probably Davies being with us....
Change it now....

Some reasonable points made so let's wait and see what Wellens does at Oxford next Sat.
Needs more than a 30 min JB cameo to convince me Wellens is the man to keep us up.
I hope I'm wrong... ?
