An assist from the man who offers nothing anywhere on the pitch, especially going forward...

He can't play as a wing back so that means MM would have to go 442, but he won't leave out any of his favourite 3 centre backs. It's a dilemma. I wouldn't be surprised of Lundstram played right back again as he treats Sutton like a last resort.
Despite him playing that position for months in a 532/352...

Perhaps, so I'd ignore it - I know that if it got under my skin and I didn't gnore it, it would make me a very bitter individual.
No bitterness here.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and sure, everyone is entitled to a differing opinion; if I spotted an opinion I didn't agree with I would offer a counter and leave it at that. What I wouldn't do is go on and on about it at every possible opportunity - as if it would change someone's mind...
Like he does you mean?

You're a poisonous individual aren't you? I was simply giving some background as to why I`d only returned to watch Latics recently. I`m sure not everyone on here pours over my every post like you seem to do so wouldn't be privy to the same intense knowledge as you.
I don't. You post it enough that even brief followers of this will know Wiseowl

Who says they are endorsing it, I’m sure and I definitely know they are hurting like we are today.
Thing is BP, they have a long term plan, I like that, they sussed out David and made the cut.
As a rational board would do, they are looking at form and if we are competing in and around the playoffs.
Go and support City if you want entertaining fast flowing football.
Cheerio.
Great points well made

Thought I'd do a little form analysis of the teams competing for play off spots. My assumption was that this was a group of teams all trying to go up in the least impressive manner possible, dropping points all over the place, like some sort of Taskmaster task. But when I have a look at it, I think I'm wrong about that.
Here is the immediate form of the teams currently 2nd to 9th. I've stopped there as there's a 5 point gap to 10th. It's the number of points scored over their last 4 games. In brackets is the points scored in the last 10 games:
2. Barnet... 7 points (16)
3. Bromley... 4 (13)
4. Solihull... 10 (17)
5. Gateshead... 10 (17)
6. Aldershot... 6 (17)
7. Oldham... 7 (20)
8. Halifax... 12 (14)
9. Altrincham... 3 (13)When you look at PPG for 4 games vs 10 games there is not a huge difference for most of the teams in that list. Everyone is relatively close except Halifax who are in a real purple patch and Altrincham who are the opposite. So it seems most teams are maintaining a fairly consistent course, mostly scoring points at a rate that over 46 games would work out as a play off finish.
Next thing I looked at was whether that course was generally shit as I assumed that to be the case. But I think I'm wrong about that too. I compared to 2nd-9th in league one and league two. There is a slightly better PPG average across all those teams in league one, but league two is almost identical to our league. So the amount of points the play off contenders are picking up seems broadly in line with other leagues.
My conclusion is that as we're out of practice to what play off seasons or promotion campaigns look like, we're very quick as a fanbase to assume that we are nowhere near good enough to go up. But in reality our form is good enough to get into the play offs, it's good enough in comparison to the teams around us and it's good enough compared to other leagues too. This post is nothing to do with style of play or anything like that. Just purely looking at points scored and our form on that metric compared to everyone else.
It's not the time to panic, to call for the manager to be sacked or to declare the season over. The team need to get over yesterday quickly and put in a good shift on Tuesday and so do the fans.
Caveat - shouldn't need to do this, but I do so will shout it loudly... I AM ABSOLUTELY NOT EXCUSING YESTERDAY'S PERFORMANCE OR SAYING IT DOESN'T MATTER. IF WE PLAY LIKE THAT IN A PLAY OFF GAME WE WILL LOSE!
Again, facts and common sense, woth a measured reaction aren't the right way to go about things on here

How does he do that without a complete clear out? Which isn’t possible right now.
Hes brought in a handful of players (a few that have been injured) but the squad has and still does need open heart surgery. And he knows it.
It’s something we’re gunna have to suffer with and try get as much out of as we can and see where it gets us. The performances are a byproduct of the problems that can’t be changed overnight.
That common sense doesn't wash round here

Well, let's be honest, if he keep spouting the same shite, surely I can point it out?
7 defenders
Not strong enough
Alfie Atherton
What does Brabin do?
Will lose thousands off the attendance
Direct attacking midfielder
Etc etc etc

Lundstrum after today must have run out of chances and Sheron can't be that far behind him, neither can pick a pass or help in any way getting us further up the pitch, Hobson did more from centrehalf than either today.
You say that but Sheron scored our only goal and also set up Lundstram for what should have been our 2nd

1 hour ago, spanishfly said:I find MM likeable and his track record is excellent. If one of the objectives though is to build the fanbase that could be doomed. I`ve just started recently watching us again after living abroad and I`m bored stiff already. Woking was my first game and I didn't think that poor level of schoolboy type head tennis could be repeated but yesterday was just as bad. I`m already thinking of giving it a break at home and might do a couple of aways because we seem to be a different side away. If we get to the play-offs then the crowds will keep coming. If we don't I think a good few could drop off the home attendance as it's hard to justify £40 or so every week to watch that.
I don't think sacking MM is even a question yet.
Been abroad have you? Should have said

They get credit when it’s warranted and should be able to take criticism when it’s warranted, and that was certainly warranted today and I don’t think the reaction was OTT.
Depending what the fans said, maybe they deserved what they got back. People are very quick to forget we've got some absolute whoppers as fans

As for maintenance seems to me a section of the ground has been neglected, possibly because the club believe it will never be used.

And that shows what an ordinary league this really is and what we could achieve with more consistency.
We're consistent at the moment results wise
5 hours ago, TheBigDog said:It's been blown up out of all proportion for me - so he said 'What the Fuck are we doing here?' when asked to come in on Xmas day - hardly an earth shattering crime is it? He was disciplined but should be brought back in to the first team squad - Melon is overreacting in my opinion and its costing the team.
You think he's overreacting but you don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Would you bring him back in even if it would unsettle the group? I wouldn't.
I've no idea what he's done/doing in training.
I'd trust MM to make the right call for the good of the squad though

The register comment was a complete disgrace. It was liked by Fluffy, which says all you need to know. If you need any further reason to ignore these people just try searching against “malignant narcissist” on YouTube.
I found it mildly amusing. Not sure what anyone's issue is. You the comedy police?

Haven't the slightest clue what you're on about (Wiseowl??) and as for the register comment, wow, shame on you. Same goes for the childish fucker who has loved your post. And before I read anything else, delighted with the win yesterday. I did post a couple of weeks back about how remarkable MM's away form was and if only it could be replicated at home. I`d also picked out Fondop as Latics standout forward from what I`d seen. So, perhaps I`m not so stupid after all. Only stupidity is perhaps coming on here but, hey ho, you learn in life.
Cheers Wiseowl

To be fair, you don't see many hoofs played with the outside of the foot and with the right amount of drift to just take it away from the first defender. I'm happy to give Sheron the benefit of doubt on this Beckenbauer-esque piece of outrageous skill on this occasion, or call it a shank instead.
Was a delicious ball

He saying - Sheron saw Gardner make the run and played it front of him to run onto/get to. (Gardner made the pass look better with his timing, but nevertheless it was still a cracking ball that split the two defenders.)Hoof. Sheron can't pass. He can only run

That play from Sheron for the first goal is immense. The strength to barge the guy off but then as good a pass as you'll see at any level. Classy finish from Garner too
If that was KDB to Haaland it would have been shown 53 times and fawned over by everyone

Fucking hell you spend your Saturday night's trawling every one of my posts to try and win an argument, Sachdev isn't as was proved Tuesday as he didn't come out for the second half minutes after my post and why he was probably dropped today, Hammond has improved with each game which I've commented at full time on Tuesday but you didn't want to post that quote for some reason.
More the point you just write players off so soon then talk about not giving Sutton shit as if you never unfairly single players out
