  1. I'll be interested to see if you are correct. If so it's another case of beginner's luck!

Sorry, silly me. Just spotted the clue about it ending in OW. And I see it starts with BA. They obviously play in blue So it has to be ..........

......... no, I was thinking of Barrow, but it can't be, so I'll go for Colchester.

  2. When you said "provided they reside within striking distance of our HQ for pre or post-match get togethers" I assumed you meant you had a HQ for all games home and away! Now you're saying you're still restricted to the few who live near your local pub, but it looks like your wording was drafted by European beaurocrats! :clown:

At which match will we have the pleasure of the company of your full skateboard?

The wording was compiled by none other than Professor Stanley Unwin, who stuted clear positavling that any memberlodes who makes up mumbles and lisp reading mouses, will not be able to upjoinfans in the BOATS quarterheadings. Now have you got it?

On the footy front, I know Bigfin should be at the Swansea game, not sure about Downender but I think he's on holiday and Mac (who will become Bathletic if I ever manage to teach him how to driver a computer) and I probably can't manage a game until Walsall away. Can't remember what Bristol Blue said and I can't speak for the other 48 of us.

  3. So let me get this right. Wherever the few of you go for a drink before Latics' matches, home or away, your rules and regs :deal: allow you to enroll any Top Latics' fans who reside nearby. So if we played Burton Albion away again, you could enrol BLAST! members, or when we play in London you could enrol OASIS members. :sign0094:

Nay, lad, nay. I said within striking distance of our HQ - and it's at our discretion, but we're really, really nice people. And by no stretch of the imagination could Burton or London come into that category. Where's that bloody lawyer I asked for 20 minutes ago????????? :lipsrsealed2:

  4. Not sure I like the fact they choose a George cross during the facist era

AC and Sampodoria have a George cross in their club badges as they were started by English men .... not sure what if any Inters connection is ?

Certainly an odd choice. I don't know of an English connection with Inter, but we certainly took the game to different parts of the world. Wasn't it English sailors who introduced it to Argentina? And Juventus allegedly took their colours from borrowing shirts froma touring Notts County.

It's a pity the link is now advertised, I could have started a quiz off with strange kits of the past from English and Scottish leagues. And there sure are some strange ones!!

  5. All Bristolian Oldhamers :gathering2: , so you must have dumped the guy from Swindon already, and clutching at an unwilling guy from a town in :Wales: smacks of desperation! :redcard:

If you think Newport is a suburb of Bristol, that explains your problem with direction signs. The repeated display of those direction signs to The North indicates that it is difficult to find, compared to the areas wrongly thought to be in The North. :sign0007: The fact that the signs are still there in the Lake District proves my point beyond all reasonable doubt! Q.E.D.

Ahem. Allow me to explain. BOAST rules and regs state that we may enroll TOFF members (Top Oldham Footie Fans), provided they reside within striking (not of the Maheta Molango quality, I might add) distance of our HQ for pre or post-match get togethers and AGMs. Both Newport & Swindon fall into that category as the local motorway network and the proximity of our HQ to the Bristol Ring Road give easy access in no time at all. This is unlike Burton who only have the A38 to shout about and it is only signed with those funny little green signs which tell you that you are there when it is too late to care.

The proliferation of signs to THE NORTH is NOT for Northerners - we know the way blindfold. It is for Southerners who need constant reminders. Now I've dug the hole even deeper, I shall climb in and wait for BigFin to get our lawyer - I think I need one.

  6. inter shirt info ....

    Centenary Internazionale shirt

In the Fascist era in Italy, the name Internazionale was not looked upon well and the club became Ambrosiana. During this time they wore white shirts with a red cross on them. Initially founded as Internazionale in 1908, the reverted back to their original name in 1942

Nice one Mark. Never knew that. So I suppose it's a sort of retro job. At least it didn't look as bad as the pink gear that Palermo wear.

  7. Is this why our new away kit has been delayed? Valencia wore the tangerine and blue yesterday in the Emirates Cup against an Italian outfit who obviously fielded a team of Englishmen 'cos they wore white shirts with a bloody great red St George cross.

I'm sure I heard the crowd singing "Are you Latics in disguise" as the Spaniards beat the Italians 2-0. Is it me?

  8. Thought I ought to let Bigfin know that Paul from Newport, South Wales made it to Clyde by train after changing at BRISTOL of all places! He doesn't read OWTB and doesn't want to BOAST. He did have a BLAST though with the Burton gang on very late Friday and Saturday nights in Glasgow. :drinking: Also, as he's a real ale man, he has an afilliation with the Brewing Capital of the country and is happy to go for a Burton. :drinking66: He isn't allowed to enrol with us though, as we have strict rules about the boundaries of our territory.

By the way, driving up the M6 on Friday, it was only after the Lake District that the direction signs for "THE NORTH" appeared. :thinking2:

Erm, to the best of my knowledge, he hasn't enrolled yet with the mighty BOAST. This means that we are still made up entirely of Bristolian Oldhamers and admission is strictly in accordance with BOAST rules and regs. :thinking2: I have a feeling that Newport is a suburb of Bristol.

Also, there are signs to THE NORTH as you leave London on the M1, and at various points on the M6 and M5, so THE NORTH is obviously a very important area.

  9. But Gary Lloyd, Wright’s agent, cleared up the matter, saying: “No offer has been made to Alan and as such we couldn’t afford to let him go to Scotland and risk being injured when he doesn’t have a contract.

“Another player on trial this week has broken his metatarsal and will be out for eight weeks and we couldn’t afford to do that.

So, did the Robbie Williams episode scared him off going to Scotland? If he isn't offered a deal by the time of the Sheff Wed game, will he give that a miss as well? While the squad are in Scotland, is he popping into BP to train on his own each day? Sounds as if he (or his agent) are frightened of him not having a club, but he won't have one anyway if Shez doesn't want him.

  10. :oasissign1: Good to meet you all last night. What a turn out!! Glad I could make it after all.

We'll have to sort out another meet sometime. Hopefully arrange a trip up to Forest. :ktf:

Cracking evening fellas. Never believed that so many would turn up. Probably the pub's busiest night of the week.

Can't make Forest, the present Mrs Bristolatic would take a very dim view of me leaving her in the hotel to finish our mini holiday on her own. It would prove to be my last ever match. :behead:

Still looks like Walsall away will be the first for me and Mac, but ...........

    ........... you never know. :ktf:

  11. It's difficult getting to many home games as Mrs Bristolatic is disabled (she has Multiple Sclerosis) and I can't leave her every week. But it's virtually every away game south of Brirmingham (Walsall is now south of Birmingham for that very purpose), An old mate of mine and I try to make Boundary Park 3 or 4 times a season but a series of operations (mine) reduced us to just two games last season. :disappointed:

This time around, we are up and running and, oddly enough, Walsall away will be our first match.:bblue2: The commentary on Latics World is a great way of keeping in touch on match days and the Kent Wells / Tom Hill partnership is very good. Now I have found this site, that's another bonus when I can't get there. :OWTB1:

And tomorrow night is the inaugural meeting of BOAST!! :gathering2: so we may find ways of getting to more games than before.

  12. Short, balding head with a grey beard ( of sorts) specs.....

    Brad Pitt lookalike.... :D

    Sithy tomorrow neet... B)

Bugger me, I'm slightly under-tall, bald head, greyish beard.........

........ ahh, more like a coal pit lookalike.

But I will have a Latics shirt on.

    Ey up.
