  1. No vested interest, I thought this was a board/forum for discussion, just airing my views but if that’s not the case I’ll keep quiet from now on
  2. Yes because he is a coach as many managers are. You may get some managers who like to just manage and let a coach coach, you also get managers who like to do a good proportion of the coaching themselves.
  3. “Too many cooks”........... If you look on most league two or even league one club websites I think you’ll find most have Manager, Assistant, GK coach then the medical/fitness staff. A few may have a first team coach as well but not many. We are league two with a limited budget so I think what we have is about right, I’d like to see money spent on players on the pitch
  4. How many do you need!? Manager and Coach (or Assistant or whatever you want to name him) coach the team and tactics, GK coach takes goalkeepers and Physio and Fitness coach look after fitness and health of the players. Not sure what else is really needed at league two level.
  5. Yes Caretaker Manager - Pete Wild - A Licence Coach - Chris Millington - A Licence Goalkeeping Coach - Steve Hale - A Licence Fitness Coach - Stuart Vance Physio - Stuart Irwin
  6. Why do you not think he is ready for it yet? When is a coach / manager ready for it if he doesn’t do the job to gain experience? Theres a coaching team in place plus looks like Clarke is also part of that giving his experience while still playing
  7. no, just someone bored of the usual merry go round of managers and would like to see some fresh managers and coaches on the scene
  8. Firstly it’s pointless talking about where we used to be in the football pyramid and where FGR used to be, it’s about the here and now and simply put FGR are above us in the table and backed by a rich businessman and we are not! When you consider how FGR were able to bring on Doidge, who has been playing championship football and McCoulsky who they bought yet we only had 6 subs, two of whom were Youth players it tells you what PW had at his disposal compared to Mark Cooper. Off the back of two good wins in the league and the brilliant FA Cup win, games where the players put a right old shift in added to their position and run in the league and our lack of players I’d say PW actually did a good job and it’s a good point! Its clear for all to see we need a new striker, if not two in my opinion and a replacement for Lyden (Sylla did okay but still think we need someone in the Lyden mould, energy, legs/workrate) Positive performances IMO from Iversen, Edmundson, Hunt when he came on but most of the French players were off it today, even Missilou who was outstanding against Fulham. Onwards and upwards and the trip to Macclesfield and hopefully put one over their mad manager!
  9. All this talk of “experience” well a lot of that experience could be “failed” experience. Yes it could be a gamble appointing someone not experienced in senior football like PW but at the same time, that enthusiasm, passion and desire to do the job and fresh ideas might be the positive that outweighs the negatives of lack of experience. I get sick and tired of the lists of managers that gets trawled out when a job becomes available, why not get some new fresh blood into the game
  10. Loanees going back won’t help or any injuries but I don’t get the lack or preparation comment. Go away to Port Vale and win 4-1, nullify Tom Popes threat, then a 2-0 home win against Notts County, nullify Jon Stead threat and win comfortably. Then to top it off go away from home to a premiership side and nullify their threat, can’t remember Iversen being tested really apart from the penalty which PW stated was dealt with by the work the goalie coach did with Iversen and gain a fantastic 2-1 win. All of that tells me they are not lacking preparation. i do agree that we need to sign some players though
  11. Well with the transfer window only open a few more weeks surely a new manager will want to put his stamp on the squad maybe with a few ins and outs? If he’s allowed that is!
  12. How long to people think the managerial position will drag on before it’s filled?
  13. Shame to see Sam go, thought he was doing a great job
