This for me too.
I’ve no idea if the new additions will make us into a side that can challenge at the top of the league.
I do know that on paper we have one of the stronger squads in the league - it’s now up to the management team to get us playing winning football
Steady on now BD, this is Latics. We're used to let downs. Let's just hope we don't lose the first six games and then take it from there.
Shall we say comfortably out of the bottom four by Christmas ?

Oh the luxury of being able to pay fees and pick and choose the perceived better players. What ? Am I dreaming ?

I'm staggered we actually need to water the pitch for anything other than 90% of the season if I'm honest!
Me too, I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

We need to bring back downvotes. Anyone who finds cricket boring, especially as practised under McCullum and Stokes, needs to give their head a wobble. Bring on the Ashes.
That's why summer holidays were invented don't you know, so people could avoid it.

Not many people know this but cricket was actually invented by an immigrant German medic called Professor Borrrin Fokker who created cricket as a cure for insomnia and won a Nobel prize. His great great grandson went on to coach Geoffrey Boycott.

Not heard that, but I'm sure Jim would have praised Lawson for the many spectacular goals he scored.
I don't remember his spectacular goals. What I do remember is a match against City reserves, Manchester Senior Cup maybe when he tackled a young city striker and bundled him into the advertising boards. Slightly more subtle than a Glasgow Kiss but not by much.

Let's hope for a second half comeback.

I was in the pub last night and heard a whisper that we've landed Messi. Turns out the deal clincher was the "all you can eat" tapas deal at La Salsa in Heyside/Royton.

I’m sure he got relegated with Bury. I think it was them who coined’Colin Wanker’
That was the 98/99 season.

So what's the odds of Torquay beating Wrexham 6 - 0 with a Stobbs first half hat-trick followed by a Stobbs second half hat-trick and Gateshead beating Maidenhead 6 - 0 to save Torquay's season and Stobbs being awarded the freedom of Torquay.

They’re not just lukewarm they’re also really shite….the steak pies are do bland and literally don’t taste of anything!
Yeah I agree about the steak pie but at the last game I sat behind a woman who had a meat & spud pie and the aroma (of the pie) was quite appealing so I'm going to try one on Saturday. I just hope it's hot. Is anyone familiar with the pies at the Village Manor Bakery in Waterhead ? These are the standard of pies that should be on sale at BP, especially for a club with ambitions. Take note Frank.

It had a better bar and steak pie as I remarked on my post match comment but their home end is a tin shed
I'm not right impressed with the pies in the JR stand. I've tries the chicken curry and the steak but they've all been lukewarm.
A pie has just got to be hot. Please please hear my prayer Mr Pie Man, serve your pies hot.

This forum always amuses me, I view it as the bi-polar or topsy-turvy forum. Either really down or really up after a good win. However, dare I say that the current upward trend looks promising. After all four wins on the bounce is some achievement, especially with a "shit" set of players that we had several weeks ago. It also looks like "hasn't a clue Dave" might have a clue after all much to my amazement. Lets all hope it doesn't turn to shit again in August.

Rather have Frank anyway proper Oldhamer. an industry man who has single handedly swung (most) of the council from fighting us to liking us just because he actually does things proper. you just know all his stuff is in order and always has been by the respect he garners even tho he is mad as a box of frogs.
Exactly. Can't usually read/understand your posts never mind agree but give me an owner who has rowed across the Atlantic every time rather than a drama queen actor.

Everyone would love to take Scarlett Johansson home after a night out. But when you've had enough pints Susan Boyle will do if Scarlett isnt available. End result all that matters
That conjurs up horrible thoughts that require mind bleach but i've got to ask the question. If you've had that much to drink, would you be able to lift Susan Boyle up and pin her against the wall while you completed the deed. Apologies if i've made anyone feel queesy.

Do you have to remind her to put her shoes on? Same thing
Not quite but having seen the weather forecast I might advise her to wear wellies or if i'm feeling really bold I might say "those shoes don't quite match that dress dear".

Just a couple of months ago I was firmly in the Unsworth out camp and thought him incapable of learning.
But I think he's slowly turning it round and although a lot of the football is still shite I reckon we have a few
good players in defence and attack. I think the football will get better if we get some good midfield players in
who can control the game. I just hope we don't sign Chapman. I know he's bagged a few goals but I don't
see him being effective at all which is worrying as he seems to be a favourite of Unsworth.

I dont think the new board are that inept. Think it's harsh to imply they are, don't you?
I don't think for one minute that a reminder is implying that the board is inept. When my wife goes out I always remind her to take her phone, glasses and lipstick but I would never dare to suggest she is inept.
