The way I look at it, scholes isn't in it for the money, he is down here because he has an affinity with the club so I can't see him leaving for a barnsley or Bristol. He is here for the long haul if successful.

As for Al, he ain't gunna plough that money into getting scholes and then scrimp on the budget. Nor is he gunna meddle. I would have thought that was scholes demands on taking the job. Just let him get on with it, and I actually think he will.

I don't see any draw backs to the situation at the minute, unless scholes completely bombs as management (by his own making) which is unlikely. 

Everyone in football wants him to do well and he has so many contacts it's unreal. Its like we have got 1up on every other team in the league.

In all seriousness I see this fixture and take it as a defeat even at the start of the season. Even the win at the hockey stadium was the biggest smash and grab I've ever seen. Worst I've ever seen us play and still come away with a win.

I don't know what it is they have over us there but we just can't muster a win.

I missed today.

The last 'big' game I missed was forest in the cup. We won there too.

I get the feeling I should avoid the big ones (although I saw us beat city, Everton and Liverpool so I can't be that bad)

It didn't stop me running round the living room, making the kids cry, and having the wife tell me to grow up. The eldest (2) was imitating me for the next hour singing owtb but still said she would prefer to stay at home with mummy rather than come to BP in the future. I've got a bit of work to do there yet.

Latics will always produce emotion no other thing on earth can produce. The instant elation is something that I won't ever part with.

Depends what ya need to do to get legend status.

Matt Smith did next to fuck all but scored some of the most memorable goals since the century turned.

Eyresy, Sheridan, duxbury, to name a few, all great servants but won nowt.

Ernie, lived the dream, and was a top bloke, probably remembered more for what happened after us.

If you have to win something to be a legend your going right back to the big joe era, but I think there are other exceptions. I do however think those exceptions are few and far between. Not all those I used as examples should be classed as one, but I've heard all them called one in the past. 

Cup games are as much about momentum, self belief and romance as they are tactics and quality. I honestly believe putting a new man in charge could be shooting ourselves in the foot.

My philosophy - on a similar mantra to his - is:

I couldn't give a toss who.wins the premiership or the fa cup. The cup only matters while we are in it. Don't think I have watched the final in the last 20 years.

There is no problem with how we play. He is attempting to keep it tight at the back while putting away chances at the other end when they arise. The problem people have is a lack in quality not with playing style. There was no real difference between the Crawley game and the Newport game the way we played we just couldn't take our chance against Newport, yet it's results people look at.

We are 6th within touching distance of top. Anyone who complains about that given the last 20 years isn't worth listening too

In this league it's more about how we perform on the day rather than there being a chasm in quality between the teams who inhabit it. 

If we can find consistency there is no reason we shouldn't look towards 9 points every time 'The next 3' come up, but I'd settle for a consistent 6 which we are hitting at the moment, disregarding the slow start.
