oafcprozac
its not what you know..its who you know. Yeah, and in this case i'd wager he's friendly with both the jury and judge!
garcon
Does it not depend on whether 30 seconds of pushing and fisticuffs in a bar actually amounts to affray? Not that I'm entirely surprised at the verdict given Stevie's alleged "connections" ...

OldhamSheridan
To be fair its about evidence, and the CCTV didn't show much (unless I've seen the crap version). Should have taken the payoff that was more than likely offered for him to bob off.
rudemedic
What is affray? As last time I checked you were allowed to hit someone back if they hit you first (anyone fighting with a professional athelete must be a bit stupid they are going to be pretty handy in a fight). Yes the CCTV footage seems to show Gerrard hitting someone but it doesn't give a great view and I bet loads of eyewitnesses have come forward saying they didn't see him hit anyone or that he was hit first. To be honest from what I've seen of the footage it doesn't look anything worse than what you see in bars and clubs all around the country and its only the fact that it was a professional footballer involved that it got this far. Loads of Man U fans will be moaning about it but considering Cantona only got 120 hours of community service for kicking a bloke (without being hit first) I don't see what they are complaining about.
