inspectormorose
PETITION TO THE PRIME MINISTER TO BAN THE USE OF SUN BEDS FOR UNDER 18s AND THE USE OF COIN OPERATED SUN BEDS Following the recent announcement from the International Agency for Research into Cancer (IARC) at the World Health Organisation reclassifying sun beds from a medium risk to the highest risk category for risk of causing cancer (effectively putting sun beds into the same cancer causing risk category as asbestos), and continuing the campaign by several skin and cancer organisations, the Skin Care Campaign has launched a petition to the Prime Minister asking him to ensure that legislation is passed as soon as possible to ban the use of sun beds by under 18 year olds and that a total ban is put on the use of all coin operated sun beds. * Recent evidence has shown that the increased use of sun beds by children is damaging their skin and could lead to skin cancers in the future * Skin Cancer is now the most common form of cancer in the UK * More than 1800 people die from skin cancer every year and that is increasing by 10% every year * It is not unknown for children as young as 8 years old to be badly burned by use of sun beds. As an added campaigning tool the SCC will be writing to every MP raising their awareness and asking them to sign the petition Please add your support by signing the petition at http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Sun-beds/ Once you have done so it would help greatly if you could pass this on to all of your contacts to make them aware of the campaign.
