oafc1955 Posted October 18, 2009 Share Posted October 18, 2009 We've said it for a few seasons now but it really is alarming how little of a threat we are from corners or free kicks. I think it was the Millwall game at home last season where we showed a little bit of craft with a free kick routine for Chris Taylor's goal but generally we are pi** poor at set plays. Why, when so dominant in the air at the back isn't Gregan a threat in the opponents box for corners and free kicks? Parker scored from an absolute cracker of a free kick in pre-season yet hasn't looked remotely like repeating it in the league. Surely they must practice routines in training yet it fails to materialise out on the pitch. I would love to see some stats of our goals scored from set plays.... I think it would make depressing reading! We've had some great dead ball specialists over the years like Maurice Whittle and Neil Redfearn but now we get a corner or a free kick and you just know it will come to nowt!!! I was always suprised how crap Lidds was from free kick and Wellens was pretty dire as well.
