BP1960 Posted November 17, 2009 Share Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) Just to show big money doesn't have to be spent to find good players, what's your Latics team made up of bargain buys/youth team graduates from the past (do not include loanees); Here is an example; Andy Goram (free) Denis Irwin (free) Andy Barlow (youth) Earl Barrett (£35,000) Paul Warhurst (£10,000) Carl Valentine (youth) Mike Millligan (youth) Bobby Johnstone (£4,000) Bert Lister (£10,000) Andy Ritchie (£50,000) Alan Groves (£10,000) Even allowing for inflation that's a pretty cheap team with commitment, flair and goals galore in it. The fact is those kind of bargains are about today - and some clubs scouts will find them. Now lets see your all time Latics bargain team (you can name 7 subs if you want too). Less than 5 years Lees due to injuries but superb nontheless. I picked my team on their re-sale values mostly if I was going simply for bargains mine would look summat like this:- Kelly Irwin Warhurst Paul Jones (the one Ritchie signed) Holt Rickers (many an important goal) Shez Milligan Eyres Hughes Pav Cost of that team? £10k for Kelly!
