slurms mckenzie
I've head a pretty miserable time with sporting biographies, having found both Redders and Royles books extremely tough going.... Is Mickey Quinn's worth buying, as its down to six quid on amazon..... Any comments from anyone who has read it, including if theres much in there on his time with latics, would be appreciated. Crusoe
Skim read years ago, has some "amusing anecdotes" (vaguely recall one about him and Andy Rhodes - I think - on the pull, but hardly in-depth or insightful). Best footballing autobiographies I read were Garry Nelson's (Left Foot Forward and Left Foot In The Graves; one about his late playing career, one about his time as assistant player/manager at Torquay) and Tony Cascarino's (not because he's likeable, because he's brutally honest about the less pleasant aspects of playing). Loftyboy
White Line Fever - Lemmy. Sod all this football malarky - that's a cracking read. Slightly off topic, but a great book for cricket lovers and if I remember right it's called Fatty Batter,an excellant read.
Crusoe
If we're sticking off-topic, Luke Haines' autobiography (Bad Vibes) isn't bad.

If you're referring to "Who Ate All The Pies", go for it. I thoroughly enjoyed it; honest, outspoken and the Latics section is very good. While you're at it, get Mark Ward's "From Right Wing To B Wing". No punches pulled and the Latics parts are also very good. Wardy says he'd love to get into management following on from his coaching stints before he went to prison. Hmm, now there's food for thought.
