The cheapest option again, I have no doubt Philliskirk could do a good job but he doesn't want it, the first sign of a bad run and he'd want to go back to coaching the kids.

It takes a special quality to be a man manager and making big decisions ie. team selections, leaving players out etc is not in Philliskirk's nature. Apparently he had a sleepless night before having to tell Dan Taylor he wouldn't be in the squad for Everton.

We have decided to keep the academy set up and for it to be successful we have to have the right man ....that man is Philliskirk.

We have 100 or so applicants, surely one or two are more than capable. I still think Dowie would be perfect for us and can't believe money is the issue....if it was they wouldn't have been in dialogue with Corney to start with.

A heavy defeat tomorrow night would set the alarm bells ringing once again..... We need to get a long term structure in place and a new manager needs to come in now. He needs firstly to keep us up and also time to assess the squad so that we can hit the ground running at the start of next season.

Corney's playing a dangerous game...if we lose tomorrow and then fail to beat Portsmouth...then what?
