future in doubt for latics

Recommended Posts

Not only was he entirley incorrect, it was also completely irrelevant to the decision over planning permission.

the monetary side was irrelevant, but i think he was hinting at that the scale of the site was perhaps too large, ie could they take a tier off as with his calculations they could still make it pay (albeit it they are wrong calculations!)

"Assumed".

We're dealing with a multi million pound development and we have people who are making the key decisions assuming things! OK it seems not everything was spot on but assuming!

Something i learnt in business a long time a go Assume only makes an ass - u - me

His calculations were based on:

1. That the apartments would sell for £200k - come on, this is Oldham!

2. That you can build apartments for no cost - and this man is on a planning committee!!

So... if this was down to lack of preparedness by the club and its representatives and incorrect/missing figures... what's with the four who voted for? This is about winning the argument, opinions. If four were convinced, I think there were probably enough councillors going to vote against whatever the presentation.

Strikes me that planning law needs to be overhauled. Let the decisions be made by professionals, not hobby politicians who are more concerned about the votes of the nimby's than the future of the borough.

They were warned we were not trying to create apartments to rival that 6* hotel in Dubai weren't they?

200k sweet Jesus

the people on the panel hadnt even realised that the floodlights for the stadia were to sit within the roof space, and thus emissions were to be mininal

they must have spent about 10 mins labouring over this point

That's the one.

Just a bit peed off I guess. Hopefully we'll get more tomorrow and TTA might be ready to take these gonks on :fighting:

I am with you Mate ! , just trying to make a point that we all assumed that this would happen tonight including the Club.

Think we were led to believe it was a formality and we just needed to turn up .........as you say "Just a bit peed off I guess".

The more im thinking about this the more angry I am getting !!! 200k!!!!!!!!! ??????? Bleeding dumbarse

but if the representative (and i am not trying to have a go at anyone here) could have said no we have budgetted that they will retail about the 120k mark (say) then his argument would have been blown out of everyones mind

as such by his comment, the people on the board are working out simple maths 80 million to build the WHOLE project, phase one has been approved say thats 15 mil already funded, so to do phase two will be 65 million, in which the owners are going to get a minimum of 100 million in revenue, which will give them 35 million profit

its that one seed which can plant doubt in peoples minds, which is one that we couldnt blow away

Thats not true! I think some people were fooling themselves that it would defo happen but i think the majority of people were nervous / worried it wouldnt happen.

Anyway, agree that hopefully things will improve in the morning....

Did you mean the club led us to belive ?? I dont think thats true either ?

perhaps not directly

but the fact that they didnt reject it first time as they were waiting on the HA report, and then that came and it was all ok, would have led some people into thinking it was all done and dusted

But there is the problem Chickers. At the start, The Representatives were given 3 minutes to support their case (in Latics instance, 4 years of work which consisted of 21 boxes of paperwork; reports; plans etc). They were then asked a couple of questions - most of which every Latics fan present could answer as these were included in the reports. The others were ludicrous such as how high is Bolton's Stand?! :o

Then, the Councillors debated issues at length but were unable to ask anyone for answers as it wasn't allowed! Instead, they made theirt own assumptions and drove themselves into a hole. They prayed to be able to defer but their sphincters failed them when forced to make a decision.

Bungling amateurs basically ignored the advice of a 30 year- Road Planning Specialist; The Highways Agency and a Specially commissioned; professional traffic report. Instead, they believed their own anecdoatal tales about how long it took them to get out of B&Q Car Park on a Saturday afternoon or how busy Broadway looked when they went to work.

Complete and utter buffoons.
