Imagine spending your Saturday morning pulling someone up on semantics on an Oldham athletic message board because their life isn’t fulfilling enough. Don’t get to exercise your brain much at work do you so this is your outlet. Happy to be of service. There’s a good lad

Your lack of self awareness here is astonishing

You're spending your Saturday morning whinging because your sports team isn't as good as you think it should be.

And now you're having a tantrum because you've been pulled up on it

But they have evidently turned a corner on the pitch fairly quickly follow a relegation. Why is it taking us so long to point back firmly in the right direction? It shouldn’t be this difficult.

After getting relegated from the division we're currently in. They're in the playoff places in the division below, we're in/around the playoffs in the division above. How are they going in the right direction but we aren't?

With having had Unsworth as manager for the first 9 league games and the players we have, how many points behind Chesterfield wouldn’t be a disgrace at this stage?

Also, Scunthorpe are 15 points behind the mighty Tamworth in the division below. Bizarre comparison, they'd kill to be in our position

To be fair to Norwood and Dallas, they would both struggle scoring from open play if they are not on the pitch.

Both started 1 game each since the end of Jan / mid Feb ? I will let them off 😂

Both proved they will score goals at this level, they are not the issue. Sooner people realise this, the better.

Our fans are so quick to write off anyone if they don't hit the ground running straight away, it's infuriating. Let's write off a proven goalscorer at this level because he hasn't done much in cameo appearances after half a season of barely playing, great stuff

I do struggle with the current fan mood, we are absolutely shit in some game, but overall we are an above average football team in the national league.

For years we have been battling relegation, literally years, apart from last season. This year we are 9 games away from the play offs and it seems more depressing than relegation fights. It’s weird.

The football is shit, but that’s the league, let’s enjoy the potential play off campaign.

I agree, it's putting me off to be honest. Performances haven't been great recently, but I think anyone who was expecting exciting free flowing football in this division is deluded. By and large we're on an upward trajectory and yet I go to games and it's like we're 22nd or something. The atmosphere at York was so flat, like people expected a defeat. Despite the past few results the club is in a better position than it has been for years but the constant negativity is draining tbh

  6. Can't bring myself to get riled up about Dale at all, actually want them to do well tbh. The Chesterfield thing is weird, absolutely nobody cares about Chesterfield.

During my time supporting Latics Huddersfield was probably the closest to a proper rivalry I've seen, for a few years in the 2000s anyway. Maybe Tranmere, but again I struggle to care that much about them.

This strikes me as a ‘if you don’t see the value in nuttall you don’t understand football post’

why some players get hung drawn and quartered and others don’t always confuses me. It’s totally random. He’s been poor

I think he's looked alright, especially as a youngster who's still learning and adapting. Really don't understand the constant eagerness to write players off, especially youngsters

Yeah, another good example of him playing further up. He scored that day as well.

I think he’s one of them players that evolves over time. They start in one position, but show glimpses in another position, and eventually they gravitate to that. I’d like to see Conlon as our playmaker, with Hammond next to him to do his running with Sheron played as high up as possible.

Tough one that as in his short time here Hammond has looked best when breaking the lines between midfield and attack, or he certainly did on Tuesday. I think he's the best fit for that advanced role

There’s also a lack of this sort of thing too. There’s nothing wrong with having opinions and being wrong about them but not many are willing to accept that. They’d rather look for ways they can still be right.

I felt the same as you about Fondop but likewise have been proved wrong. I also didn’t think Green was up to it but in his last 2 starts he’s had a big impact.

I think it's probably more of an internet/social media thing tbf, people set their stall out and just refuse to change their opinion. Which I find really odd when it comes to football, surely you want your own clubs players to prove you wrong?

It’s the radio silence when players play well or improve that bugs me.

Sutton- really struggled initially at right back, (not his fault) but massively improved to the point he made Sav look a wasted signing. But still some say he’s shit.

Fondop - awful apparently- but for the first time has been given proper run and some backing- I think he’s retuned  something like 7 in the last 13.

Hammond - was labelled shit after one game, but is slowly coming into his own.

Sheron- plays poorly one week then has a great game the week after - but his good passes are lucky and his goals ignored. Yet continues to be the most consistently picked midfielder at the club.

I'll hold my hands up and admit I wanted us to offload Fondop earlier in the season, but that was more because I felt he was a liability temperament wise. He really seems to have improved a lot in that sense and knuckled down, and he's been a proper asset the last couple of months.

Totally agree though, feels like there's a total lack of balance or credit when certain players play well.

    Absolutely spot on.

Even if our decent established players have a poor game they are labelled "shit" and shouldn't pull our shirt on again.

It's mind boggling crazy. No player, absolutely no player plays well all the time.

And if these players were in any way consistent, they wouldn't be playing for Oldham in the 5th division.
