That best fans in the country bollocks can fuck right off, been absolutely embarrassing tonight. Anyone would think we were bottom four not sixth

I had these down to do well at the start of the season for some reason, currently 3 points off the bottom four so that's gone well. Considering our away form it should be a comfortable away win. Any indication if Dallas or Walker will be back?

Bit of a daft thread to start, especially when you're giving a selection of subjective opinions, based, however loosely, on temporary periods of form, which could just as quickly change for the better or worse, as they already have.
This is a forum for supporters to voice a view, not to be lambasted or ridiculed for doing so if it doesn't fit with perceived wisdom (which itself has a habit, naturally, of changing from month-to-month) of a handful of people who take on the role of the arbitrator of sensible opinion.
Agree with this, but the complaint about us scoring from crosses after the Borehamwood game was an absolute beauty

Yes I'll leave it up for the comedy value
It's a tough one with Luamba, I think he was given plenty of opportunities and never really did himself justice. But in his defence he was coming through in, to put it lightly, a rocky period for the club, under a succession of managers, and was in and out of the team. Ultimately i think the move was best for everyone and I really hope he goes on to have a good career

Do you know him then?, that's quite the opposite opinion to the one I have of him.
Any kid whose left this club in the last decade goes with my best wishes, up to and including Unsworth we've had a succession of managers who've played absolute cranks and borrowed other teams untried youngsters in favour of throwing 'one of our own' in.
Most players don't show their best until they reach their twenties but many are wrote off here in their teens given little opportunity, it doesn't surprise me at all that some of these players go on and do just fine higher up the pyramid the EFL is littered with ex players deemed surplus.
With regards to Junior he was raw but the best memories I have of him were winners at Scunthorpe and Sutton on two good days out following Latics in what were pretty dark times. He along with others who have moved on goes with my best wishes.
Yeah we're in the same pilates class
Also I was talking about Rooney

Yeah perhaps. He clearly had the Billy big bollocks attitude about him and was sussed out and then canned, even by DU. The Turkey-teethed twat.
I couldn't stand him. Never forgave him for trying to lob the keeper from the halfway line when we playing atrociously away at Alty. And the keeper was stood on his goal line
His talent was so far below his ego

Are you saying Sheron took all that into account prior to the delivering of the pass?
Absolutely, you can tell by the direction, height and weight of the pass. It wasn't just an aimless hoof
-
That play from Sheron for the first goal is immense. The strength to barge the guy off but then as good a pass as you'll see at any level. Classy finish from Garner too

Oh no, is that another win? 6 wins in 8 in league is it? Absolute shite, wish we had a progressive manager
Great win, but not unexpected. We're gonna make the playoffs with ease. I'm sure it won't stop the bedwetting on here next time we draw a game

Sounds like Hammond is having a stormer. Funny how players will improve once they settle a bit

I try to resist replying to his every post, but they are irritating, sometimes I can’t resist!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I try not to respond to the same posters, but honestly there's so much unconstructive nonsense posted it's hard not to respond. Criticising Mellon because previous managerial failures we've had might hypothetically have done better with completely different squads they had in a division above
Criticising the team for scoring from CROSSES ffs
It's no wonder we've been mediocre for so long is it. Can't win

Talk about managing expectations, Mellon really has done a number on some of you lot...
Sorry, I promise I'll be more negative in future.
Absolutely sick of us winning games and scoring from crosses
Mellon out

Why use yawn? very ignorant and I'd never stoop that low.
You don't have to reply to my every post.
I said at the time the attacking play was good, but the balance of the team was dysfunctional.

Course you wouldn't

Yawn. Playing that exciting attacking football did us us the world of good didn't it. Where did we finish again, remind me please?

Could Mellon have finished above 18th in League 2 with the squad Kewell had?

Even the teams Dino, Kewell and Pete Wild had would have strolled this league like Chesterfield.
There's absolutely no way of knowing that for certain, and they were League 2 squads. I don't understand your point at all. This is criticising the team for scoring from crosses all over again

I`m going to be straight to the point rather than pussy footing around the edges. I`ve only seen us the last 3 games and we look a poor side. I've no idea where all this money has gone, it's certainly not been spent on quality players. That said, if Latics do get promoted via the play-offs, it illustrates how awful the standard is in this league. A few are saying "it's a tough league" etc. It's not, the standard is dreadful. The pub teams analogy is fair from what I've seen. That's exactly why Chesterfield are already 23 points clear of anyone else i.e. a decent side and you sail through this so called tough league. If I was the owner, I would be seething. With the amount of money we have allegedly thrown at it, we should be promoted this year. If we are not, that is failure in anybody's book. It's all down to the inability of those trusted to put together a good side, not to have put together a good side. Simple as that.
The failures stem from keeping Unsworth in charge for a large chunk of the season. Since Mellon came in, we're second in the form table. Sounds like a pretty decent side to me?

I won't see it as progressive if the 7 at the back tactics fail. I will see it as a chance wasted to recruit fit attacking entertaining players considering the money which has been spent.
Considering its 17 years since we last made the playoffs it's progress no matter how you want to frame it

So 3-5-2. Hobson restored to the starting eleven.
I wonder if we’ll see Green play as rwb instead of Sachdev?
Also, Hammond to keep his place?
And Lundstram has to be in last chance saloon surely?
While I don't disagree with you, we're not exactly bursting at the seams with possible replacements are we unfortunately
-
And if we don't win the playoffs, people will still see it as a progressive season and something to build on for next season. No "enormous backlash". As Metty says, pure hyperbole once again on this place

MM inherited a squad used to playing pragmatic, defence first football. Implementing a different system, especially a possession based one, takes time and would probably have seen us losing more than we win, especially when we definitely didn't have the players to play that kind of football. So MM has taken a pragmatic approach, made us hard to beat and is getting consistent results (as pointed out above, Mellon's PPG would have seen us second if he'd been here since the start.) Of course we want to see entertaining football, but most people agreed when we were relegated that we needed to get out of this division at any cost. Mellon is giving us a decent chance of doing that.

This alongside the criticism of the team scoring from crosses is why I love this place

Not a great performance, but win on Saturday and it's a decent point away at a side battling for their lives. If my maths is right it's one defeat in ten in the league now, so we're definitely hard to beat. Nervous about the game on Saturday tbh but that's definitely in our conditioning
