  1. Nah, if he played against his team twice, scored goals and was nominated for player of the year, he'd have taken notice of him. We are not going down.
  2. Apart from Joe Nuttall played in PL2 for Blackburn against DU's Everton teams, scored 14 goals and was nominated for player of the season in 2017/18, so he has seen him before and will know a bit about him.....
  3. He's still critical of performances, he still thinks we should be seeing improvements (and accepts we've not been), he still questions the formation/substitutions, but he's reacting to some of the negativity by pointing out we all have a role to play if we want our club to do well. Supporter actions aren't without consequences too. We've been in fight mode for so long, it is many supporters' default setting. We no longer need to fight, so what do we do? Call for the manager's head, boo the players and sign Johnny Sheridan songs, or recognise the longer term thinking we've been crying our for is happening, get behind them and trust the owners/board to make the right decisions? That's all we're doing this week is debating that point.
  4. Mate of mine is an Ipswich fan. I've talked to him about Edmunson and Burgess and how I thought George was better than Cameron. He couldn't be clearer that the opposite is now true. He reckons Burgess is their best CB and George is a liability who is in and out of the team.
  5. We haven't exited the FA Cup in the 4th Qualifying round since 1905/06. We've got to travel to the Deva Stadium on Tuesday to try to avoid the ignominy again. We discuss the performance and round up the week's news. To support the pod by paying a monthly subscription of just £2.99 via this link https://anchor.fm/bp-alert/subscribe. 6. This week's episode will be released in two parts at 7am and 10am; Part 1: There have been few servants to Oldham Athletic as popular or well loved as John Sheridan. On Saturday, we said goodbye to a Latics legend... Part 2: ....and so as one Legend leaves the building, so another man steps forward to try to achieve Legend status of his own. We chat with the new manager and club CEO Darren Royle about the new appointment.... 8. The £882k contingent liability is as a result of the 2017 HMRC raid and relates to VAT on the disposal of the North Stand (from OAFC to Brassbank). Shahed thinks it will get wiped as the disposal should be treated as non-VATable. Thanks Barry (allegedly), for wasting precious time and resource, again!
  9. Hi Owen, (It's Andy, I've just switched accounts) yes, my understanding is as you've described it. The only bit that is still marginally ambiguous to me.... and would require a conversation directly with Simon Blitz (we would like him to come on the pod) & his lawyer, is why the £1.1m (if it was indeed compensation/reimbursement for costs associated with the Lancaster club) was made available directly to the club and not paid directly to Brassbank (which is where the land money was sent). Does this suggest that it was OAFC that paid for the costs - feasibility studies, architects etc - for Failsworth, as opposed to Brassbank? If yes, then everything adds up and the current legal action from the club could realistically only hope to recover a max of £700k, as far as I see it.
  10. Shahed Alam was the Finance Director of the Football Club from Aug 2019 until October 2021. Shahed & his brother Tanvir were employed by Abdallah to come into the club and clean up the mess he inherited from the previous owner. In this feature length bonus interview episode we cover the following topics with Shahed; - The state of the accounts - North stand ownership, the OEC and the court case - The EFL loan - Abdallah, Mohamed & Barry - What the future might hold You can now support the pod by paying a monthly subscription of just £2.99 via this link https://anchor.fm/bp-alert/subscribe. 12. A tough game at promotion chasing Port Vale ended in defeat but a good fighting effort by the team meant it was a close thing at 3-2. Off the field, we look ahead to what our options are as a fan base as relegation stares us in the face and the owners appear to be no closer to reaching a deal to sell the club - this really is our destiny calling. 13. Karl has agreed to come on again, we're awaiting a confirmed date.
  14. Yes, we've had contact and Simon Brooke has agreed to appear on the podcast, however we are yet to agree a date with him.
  15. We'd be very happy to invite Abdallah or Mohamed on. We'd even be prepared to field an interpreter if they'd prefer..... I don't think they're particularly keen though.....
  16. Never say never. We're working to a plan and we'd like to talk to lots of people including the owner & his brother.
  17. We've got 2 scheduled to take place shortly..... with 3 other invitations out with dates to be agreed. On occasion we'll announce who we're interviewing prior to the interview so supporters can pose their question, on other occasions you'll find out at 7am on a Monday. But suffice to say, we're working to a plan and we have lot of people we want to talk to. We'll also keep to the structure of fan guests on some/alternate weeks too, so if any supporter who has a burning desire to share their views, especially if they believe their views to be different to those aired to date, we would encourage them to get in touch. DM us on here, email us at bpalertsystem@gmail.com, or find us on on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook via @oafcpodcast.
  18. Thanks for your kind words LL. We're hoping the ground we're covering - there is much more to come - will ignite a few flames and who knows where that will take us.....
  19. So would we Dave, the invitation is open to them......
  20. Thanks marhar. Appreciate you listening and taking the time to comment. We all want the club to be stable, secure and therefore able to compete. We're motivated by talking about the issues we face in an attempt to bring people together & find solutions. We've loads more lined up. More interviews with people who directly or indirectly affect the club & more post match conversation amongst fans. I would encourage anybody who feels they have a point of view they don't believe has been aired or discussed on the pod to date, to get in touch. We want as many different opinions and voices to be heard as possible.
  21. Thank you LOF, I appreciate the comments. I'm excited because I genuinely feel there is a groundswell of support amongst the fanbase to do something positive and to make a difference.
  22. Thank you B4E, really appreciate your kind words. We've got plenty more lined up, so make sure you keep listening and like & share in your social media platform of choice.
  23. I don't think he thinks that per se. I think he might've hoped Abdallah's interview, the interview from Barry and one from Paul Murray, coupled with the kit and badge fan engagement he tried, to have had some positive effect. This is where I think he's underestimated the strength of feeling.
  24. The thread below is worth a read if you haven't already, we've had some greats guests on previous episodes including Kieran MaGuire, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kieran_Maguire, Tony Carss, Neil Kilkenny, representatives whom were heavily involved in the fight to save their own clubs, from Stockport, Leyton Orient & Bury, the Chair and Vice Chair & Board representative of our own Trust, as well as the regular contributors. Over the coming weeks we will have more interviews with invited guests and will let supporters know in good time, so you can pose your questions, as well as the usual post match debate from regular and new fans.
