Great podcast Matt good work ! Listened to the full interview and then went back to listen to your original interview with Karl.

What this has showed me is albeit plans may have been influenced by Covid, nothing has really been achieved in these three months.

I can’t think of a single thing that he states in that initial interview that he then says yeah we have made progress here. Which is a worrying sign for me. !

Thanks both. In his 1st interview he said he wanted to expose Abdallah to the fans, he wanted to do some kit and badge engagement & he wanted to widen the media & comms output from just focussing on the 1st team. He has done all of these things in his first 3 months.

What I don't think he appreciated necessarily is how little difference these would make to fan & club relations. It's going to take a lot more significant work & behavioural change to begin to affect perception.... BUT if we're all talking... then there's a chance.

    1) great podcast shining a light on critical issues and giving the club, supporters and groups an effective and well managed platform for debate.  Great means of feeding back to the club, as long as the quality on the guests is maintained at the current level. Beats social media shouting any day

Thanks for your kind words Andy. We are working on future guests at present and will bring you news of those as and when they are arranged. We also want to keep hearing from supporters and would like to invite some onto the show to supplement our regular contributors, especially where people have a difference of opinion. We think it important to hear as many views as possible.

30mins in. Good job Matt, interested in listening to the last 90mins.

I ain’t a fan of KE. Something about him doesn’t seem right to me. Felt it as soon as he jumped on Twitter and knew it would end the way it did with him on there. I’ll continue to listen and see if my mind can be changed though.

...let me know what you think when you get to the end?

I have almost got to the end of this episode.

Thanks to Matt for all the brilliant work he does in bringing the podcast to us each week. It’s always entertaining, relevant and interesting and goes right to the heart of what it means to support Latics. The guests are always interesting to listen to and speak as fans but as realists too, always with a sense of perspective and without taking their support of the team too seriously.

Please keep going for as long as you feel able to Matt. I can’t wait for the episode with Barry Mo and Marco when they explain why they reported Blitz to the police 👮‍♀️

Thank you. That's very kind. I think I'll have pudding on a muffin for tea tonight.

  4. Two episodes featuring a bit of nostalgia:

16th Oct '20 Episode 10: One Carss & Eleven Passengers

This week we were joined by former Latics midfielder Tony Carss. Tony played in the 2002/03 promotion pushing squad under Iain Dowie and he shares his thoughts on the current situation at Oldham, what it was like to play alongside John Sheridan and his unique relationship with Mick Wadsworth.

    14th Dec '20 Episode 14: Wham..Bam...Boula!

This week's episode featured a trip down memory lane with former Latics loanee Neil Kilkenny. Neil tells us about his double spell at Boundary Park and how much the town means to him after his time at the club.

  5. Two episodes with and discussing our own Trust:

This week's edition is a two part special focusing on the role of Trust Oldham. Part 1 is an interview conducted with Trust Oldham Chair Jason Flynn and Vice Chair Paul Hughes,  In Part 2, which is out on Wednesday, we'll be reviewing the conversation and discussing what we feel the future role of the trust could be.

23rd Dec '20 Episode 15 Part 2: Trust Oldham Interview Discussion

Following the Trust Oldham interview from part one, we discuss what the board members had to say about where the Trust is, what's it's plans are and what we consider might be the next best moves for the organisation.

  6. For those of you who are new to the podcast, the following episodes might grab your attention too; Two episodes with supporters of other clubs;

    5th Oct '20 Episode 4: Making a Point

We're joined by the hosts of Stockport County's fan podcast, Russ & Nick as they offer us some warnings and advice about the parallels with their decline into the non-leagues and where we are now as a club.

16th Oct '20 Bonus Episode 2: Warning from the Orient

If you don't know what happened to Leyton Orient in the last few years, you may be shocked to discover that their decline into non-league football under an unpopular owner sounds VERY familiar to what is currently happening at Oldham. This episode feature Mat from the Leyton Orient Supporters Trust and editor of their Pandamonium fanzine. Pay attention Oldham fans, this could well be us he's talking about here...

Another good listen, but after years off tossing about by the powers that be it’s going to take more than a few heart to hearts with Karl to change minds. However it’s a start, keep calling them to account and some day we might just get the truth.

A really good podcast as always - thought your style of questioning/interviewing made the interview a really enjoyable listen.

The Wheater situation is farcical. On the one hand he’s just unfit but on the other hand he’s not going to play for the club again. I know it’s boring to be still talking about it, and it’s clearly not the major point in the interview, but these are exactly the kind of issues which will continue to negatively impact fans’ opinions of the regime.

Thanks SEL, appreciate the feedback. I did my best to convey how these issues affect people's perception and why I felt it important to raise them.

Lots to be honest, i thought it was very good. I found it refreshing there seems to be a plan which revolves around youth and the academy in particular. Also good that Karl feels he has a lot to offer on the North Stand situation. The Wheater situation is no clearer unfortunately but it seems there is issues around fitness but what was clear is he isn't in the plans so maybe it's time to move on from that. Also good to get an understanding of the difficulties the club faces on a daily basis coping with Covid and a nice bit of transparency regarding the finances etc. All the whole i found it a really good listen.

Thanks for the feedback & thanks for listening Pete. I guess there are quite a few supporters out there who's opinions are formed from a deep rooted mistrust dating back many years. I tried to raise the issue of 'perception' with Karl on the pod. What we hope is that by talking more we can address some of these issues collectively, to be able to move on. It does however require everyone to be honest.

Half way through, pick it up again later need my hair to grow a bit so I can tear it out again!

Great stuff Matt suffice to say you'd make a better Sporting Director than Mo!

The Wheater and North Stand stuff is driving me mad listening to all the shite reasons and excuses - just want Abdallah etc gone whatever the outcome.

Thanks for your feedback Mick. What we're trying to do is get people talking. We want Karl & the club to understand how the fans feel and how the club is perceived. Your comments are as valid as anybody else's in that regard. I do my best to get that over in the pod.

Equally, we think it important that as many voices as possible are heard, including the club's - and I thank Karl for giving his time up to talk to me at length - so we are able to hear what challenges he & the club face.

Never listened to one before, think l'll dive in on this..

We normally keep the pod to an hour or thereabouts, but we've released this one unedited as we thought it deserved it. There's lots of other episodes worth going back over Monty, we've pulled out some of them in Featured posts in here: Hope you enjoy them.

  12. NEW EPISODE: 18th Jan '21 Episode 18: Evans Above - Interview with the CEO

Karl Evans is back and we cover a lot of ground in this in-depth two hour interview. We cover issues including the North Stand and Stadium Sale, Abdallah's interview, Mo & Player recruitment, Barry Owen's role, the youth Academy, the new badge design, Trust Oldham, Karl on Twitter and of course; what the hell is going on with David Wheater?

We've got a 2nd interview with Karl Evans - 3 months after the 1st one - coming up next week. Its a must listen for everyone.

Fingers crossed for 3 points this afternoon.

  14. Featured Episode: 11th Jan '21 Episode 17: We're concentrating on the League

As Latics said goodbye to the FA Cup from the South coast, we review what was, in the first half at least, a good performance from Oldham against a top Championship side. Plus giant killing credentials, our cup related OAFC PTSD and how we're currently accepting bids of over £5,000,000 for Moyo.

On the pitch it was Bradford in the league this week and another 3 points on the board for Harry Kewell's men, as Latics fine run of form continues, this time with a much needed win at Boundary Park.  Fan favourite Dylan Bahamboula scored his first goal for the club and the win sets up a big week with the home game against Walsall on Tuesday and the away fixture at top of the table Newport on Saturday. As usual, we review and preview these games, this week with the help of Will & Adam from Push the Boundary and stat man Tomos Berry.
