I was talking about Southend- and how they done well in difficult circumstances, and how we have done poorly in good circumstances. You then said ‘you don’t think our board had it shit with the chuckle brothers’ if that isn’t comparing then what it is? If you’re not interested in Southend, and what can be achieved on a fraction of what we have- just ignore my post?
You say this.
Then this. (Which I agree with)
No manager can build anything if results don’t meet expectation. He has said himself his target was the playoffs. He hasn’t don’t it. So far he’s failed- he might yet come good. Let’s hope so.
Eh? It was all we talked about.
Unsworth -
Why no right back.
Why no cover for Kitch. Why no wide players other than green.
Why do we keep signing strikers when we are short in midfield.
Do we need 6 centre backs.Mellon.
Why no cover for Kitch.
Why no wide players.
Why sign a rwb for 3-5-2 then say he doesn’t have a right back.
Why did we sign Garner
You may agree or disagree with the above but plenty were questioning the at times nonsensical recruitment decisions.
I’m very fair in my expectations- 7th this season without promotion was solid progress. I don’t think that’s unreasonable or being impatient.
12th to 10th is not solid progress, it’s treading water for a club with our budget.
Spot on

I wasn't making a comparison - I'm not interested in Southend's situation though I note, as pointed out elsewhere, that they have had the same manager since 2021. Maybe giving a guy a sensible amount of time to build something is an idea.
We are all disappointed in how the season is ending. Very few people questioned player recruitment at the start of the season (under Unsworth) or in January (under Mellon). This is a tough league to get out of, full stop, and patience is required. Moaning about the board/players/manager and talk of pub teams (what are we, then?) gets us nowhere. MM deserves the next season to show what he can do. Results will determine his fate and it's futile speculating about whether we have a poor or disjointed football operation - which of us knows the intricate details of how other clubs are organised?
No good being envious of lesser clubs and their ability to outplay us
Time to fight fire with fire and try an emulate what they're doing or we'll be stuck down here forever

But fine, sack him and let's start all over again next season. I sometimes wonder if as fans we get the performances we deserve.
As far as I'm concerned, it's do whatever is deemed necessary to get us winning games, especially at home because it's totally unacceptable as things stand.
If Mellon can't do it, then we'll have to eventually find someone who can

Just wait until we are mentioned in the same sentence as Curzon Ashton!!
Where's that place in Switzerland?

Maybe a bit unfair on Altrincham that
In reality, we shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence but here we are and it's a very bitter pill to have to keep swallowing.

I remember a lot of fans saying the same. Be the same clowns that are moaning like little girls now. It’s tedious.
I just wonder if Frank ever knew what he thought he was about to save?
We all know he's the greatest fan this club has ever had but even he shouldn't of let sentiment get in the way.
If we're totally pissed off with the way things are panning out via inept manager's and player's, who can't be arsed to put in a proper shift, just take a moment to reflect on what might be going through his head right now.

Absolutely!!
I wouldn’t mind so much and would be willing to give him a fair crack of the whip if we were progressing and showing signs that he’s building something.
He’s only had 6 months admittedly but I just don’t see a plan, a style of play or even a settled system!
In the main they’re not his players but even the players he’s recruited haven’t improved things at all.
I’m willing to bet that the lions share of this squad barring one or two would do OK at just about any other NL side in this division!
We’re definitely under performing as a team and IMO it just doesn’t look like he has the remotest idea of how to rectify it!
Serious question…..If it was your money bankrolling this football club, would you trust Micky Mellon to spend it wisely?
I’m not sure I would!
Frank is obviously a very shrewd businessman and I'd trust his judgement over the other members of the board and any manager he employs,
The way things are going, at some stage, I can see a time when he'll be much more hands on as to what's being spent on the playing side of things and who can blame him.
Can you imagine the amount of finger pointing there'd be right now, if Alan Sugar was here instead of Frank

Is it not arrogant to think Parkinson would want to come here anyway? It's a sideways step at best. He could probably get a job at a league 2 side with fans who won't hound him out after a few months
Anyone with thick skin like a Rhino need not apply

Impossible, every manager needs a summer transfer window or they can't possibly improve anything.
Need any more paper for the cracks?

* Latest from BP is that Micky Mellon has lent his bingo ball machine that he uses for team selection to Darren Royle *
Draw for venue of the rearranged match will take place on The Shay Boating Lake at 12 bells tomorrow, Frank's going to row out to the centre circle to select the ball.

Works out at ~£30,000 a week - with a squad our size, that feels very plausible...
Scandalous
On performance related pay most of them would be in arrears.

When it dries out a bit, maybe we can throw a row of cabbages in for good measure

Two games in quick succession for Halifax on that pitch before they play us. More rain due as well
Their player's won't just be leggy, their legs will have dropped off

If it is played tomorrow with fans then for me it should only be at Bradford, Huddersfield or our place.
Anywhere but BP
we want any advantage going

Christ. This thread is just the same people making the same points over and over again.
Expect more of the same until somebody finally gets their shit together and makes this club the force it should be.
some of us might be propping up the daisies before it ever happens, so good luck in advance

So….should we have stuck with Unsworth then?
Absolutely not but we now seem to be retracing our steps for some unearthly reason.
23 minutes ago, oafc1955 said:We are a huge club for this level and expectations are huge too and rightly so!
That's why we shouldn't be getting played off the park at home, and I mean no disrespect, by unheard of club's with far lesser resources
23 minutes ago, oafc1955 said:Mellon, for all his experience and cute CV, IMO, hasn’t improved us one iota.
Even allowing for our obvious deficiencies he should surely by now, be able to get 11 out of this squad of 32 players playing to a decent and consistent standard. Apart from a smattering of youngster’s these players are experienced pro’s who’ve done it before at this level and several in divisions higher up!
Maybe the player's don't buy into his methods but at the end of the day, that's something he has to put right and good results are the only way of showing it.
23 minutes ago, oafc1955 said:Out of the 6 players he signed in January non are regular starters and a couple can’t even make the match day squad! We didn’t need squad players, we had enough of them, what we needed were players able to go straight in to the side and make a difference, otherwise, what was the actual point!
The budget has certainly taken a hammering and that can't be good going forward.
23 minutes ago, oafc1955 said:I really hope he comes good but IMO he’s done nothing to suggest that he will. If we are struggling around Xmas time and not firmly in the playoff places do we just stick with it?
After paying off Unsworths contract, do we really have any choice?
We shall see how it unfolds but serious improvements on the pitch are the minimum requirement.

Fucking hell
Stop talking like your suffering your not suffering people in The Ukraine and Gaza are suffering.
Since when did we all become such whiney little bitches.
I fully understand your point and the vast difference between real life and an unimportant leisure distraction from it.
I give thanks that I'm not suffering in any way, shape or form compered to many but we're talking everything Oldham Athletic on here and not the real world or events beyond our control.
Truth is, I'm totally pissed off to the back teeth of the inability of very well paid advisor's, countless managers and player's, from just rolling up their sleeves, like the man who's paying for it all did and actually showing what it means to represent our club, restoring some pride instead of the embarrassment they're making of it.
That's all.

I'm not saying they aren't. He's been given time and patience at Altrincham. He wouldn't get that here
Truth is, no manager who doesn't come up with the goods here and fast, ever will.
Such has the ever lasting patience of the fans been tested

Let's have it right, Parkinson would be given 2 months before being told to fuck off back to his pub team with people crying for an experienced manager. Then the cycle will continue. I'm bored of it at this point
Trouble is, his pub team is better than ours

But it's not more depressing is it and its tosh to suggest so unless you suffer from memory loss.
The expectation was top 7 we've not hit it, its dissapointing we've not hit that target it's not depressing. We have a board that are still learning a manager who has only been here what 6 months and a squad whete we've made a few signings sone have worked some haven't. But we are well placed to challenge next season. Both on and off the pitch we'll be better for this experience.
All I can say is that it's an experience most of us, don't want to live through for much longer.

Entertaining football? Not so sure there. Not from Wild.
Barrow are averaging a very, very similar goals per game. We are averaging 1.37 per game. They're averaging 1.39 goals per game
Yes,
In a league above us, punching well above their weight, virtually guaranteed a play off place with the opportunity to be where we were for 21 year's
