So hard to back him speaking like that. Such a negative outlook when things aren’t really that bad. Squad of people played higher up good board fans. Garner and Norwood right up there with best pedigree in league for strikers. He brought Dallas in a guy who ripped the league up and he got 0-11 for us. Didn’t bag once. Are we so poor we can’t get a good striker for the league on loan to do anything. , is perhaps his motivation and leadership more the issue? I’m thinking the latter here

Mellon has only one ace left to play as far as I'm concerned,

He needs to find a way of bringing his son in, to help dad out of the sticky situation and in this league, that could be a marriage made in heaven.

Believe me, businessmen do not buy football clubs to make a profit, especially in the National League!

Believe me, businessmen, don't get taken for a ride either.

Said it many times before, the goodwill and support from the Rothwells, shouldn't be taken for granted like it has been after two completely wasted season's.

No plan or real application from all those he's funding, the lot of them should hang their head's in shame, it's abysmal and that's putting it mildly.

But I’d rather have a couple more seasons in this league to ready ourselves properly for l2 so we can maintain good progress, as many do when they get out of the NL.

no one flukes going up. Obviously we weren’t ready to go up as we finished 9th/10th. The questions answers itself

Ask yourself this question and I'm sure many fan's like myself will do the same

How in hells name did we ever end up from where we've been, with team's of player's who left everything on the pitch and more, up against sides league's above and taking them all the way, to this pathetic, roll over, can't be arsed natured entity of a club?

We shouldn't be down here full stop and any acceptance of it is an insult to everything that went before,

We need to be back in the football league as a matter of urgency, no more false dawn's, it needs doing and if manager's heads roll and player's get binned off in order to achieve this.

    Then so be it!

Glad it’s over to be honest and we’ve been put out of our misery.

The only people to come out of this season without any blame is the Rothwell’s, and especially Frank.

    DR-

    - Overseen a big budget that has returned very little value for money for two season running.

    - Hired two guys for recruitment who were unable to identify a right back, that either wasn’t a known sick note or someone the manager seemingly doesn’t want.
    - Sanctioned a convoluted recruitment system where the head of recruitment and manager are at odds over who to sign.
     - Brought in stats bomb that has contributed to a hugely imbalanced squad where no player has developed, no player has a re- sale value, and every player that has joined has stagnated or gone backwards.
    - Sanctioned multiple signings of the same position, and literally no one in other positions.

    Mellon.
    - Says he knew after Flyde in his second game it was a big job, but he also knew what was needed and knows what a good player looks like. . is then allowed 6 signings and none of them have really improved us at all.

    - Says he doesn’t have a right back, but was allowed to sign one- then doesn’t play him, and again says he doesn’t have a right back.

-Makes multiple changes every game, even if players have played well.

    - Says he’s not beyond criticism- then indirectly blames the board for the contracts given and the recruitment and then says the players aren’t good enough. Then finishes with the classic,  I know what a good player looks like.

    The players.

Too many in the comfort zone happy to pick up good money, and play at being a footballer.

A few knowing they’re undropable and slipping into going through the motions.

To many not playing and being unmotivated.

The Christmas incident, arguing with fans, a them and us attitude.

What I want more than anything this summer is some really honest conversations, and if the Rothwells have to get involved then so be it, it’s their money and they and us deserve better.

    Great post

This could end up being long and protracted, such is the level of dissatisfaction

When you are so starved of success you will cling on to anything out of desperation. It makes our fan base naive, vulnerable and impressionable. We have so little experience of success we don’t see the signs (good and bad) that other fans see. We aren’t savvy and are very open to being hurt as a result.

Best defence mechanism - assume the very worst (as I have done all season). It’s usually right.

I can't take that approach or I'd find myself calling the samaritans

When Frank stepped in, It was like all my christmases had come at once, a biblical moment.

My own disappointment must be miniscule compared to his and I pray that he keeps the faith and gets to enjoy the success he so deserves.

It was staggering. And this is the thing I’m getting at @yarddog73 - I’m not saying Norwood is faultless. I just think he’s been let down by so many in that team. And as for how he deals with that, it might be wrong and might upset his teammates but at least it shows he cares to some degree. Otherwise he wouldn’t kick off at them. So I don’t get why he gets the boos and the chants about being a waste of money when there are so many others who clearly couldn’t give enough of a fuck.

Garner had the same problem - won a lot of battles tonight but so often the midfield was 20 yards behind him so it was futile.

Norwood is far too good to be playing at this level

Atleast that's what's rattling about in that head of his and it shows

Fifty years plus and this season flattered to deceive for a good while, then it showed its true colours or rather the so-called team did. I have felt worse than this but we were higher and the fall was a disaster, this one feels like slap in the face for having the nerve to believe we could come good this season.

My version of Oldham Athletic has gone and will never return. At least I have seen the good times and experienced the elation of success. There have been times at BP when me and my daughters wouldn't have been anywhere else in the world, at that moment in time.

    Yes,

It was going too well and we all bought into it, such has been the desperation to succeed. It isn't easy being used to decades of abject failure and we definitely had a tiny glimmer of hope to tease us.

Not to be yet again and sadly I'm feeling it might just be the exact same next season

Running on empty 80% of our team, you'd of thought it was us who'd played our 3rd game in 5 days. Into time added on the time added on and some players couldn't even get in the box for the last punt and kept the keeper back, honestly they are fucking clueless.

Get rid of the fucking lot of them. Shite.

With Mellon hanging from their coattails
