I’d like to see us hire a black manager, let’s buck the trend. It would also be some statement from a town with Oldhams past troubles.

What would be the statement be?

The town had race riots  nearly 2 decades ago between the whites population & the Asian population but look it's all sorted now because despite him being fkn useless at his job we appointed John Barnes?!

I'm not going to explain what moot means, you've got Google. Maybe if you'd been going to Latics as long as me you would have heard it. It was a generic song, sung by many teams' fans in the seventies. I'll concede that you probably pay more attention to, and know more about, Man Utd songs than I do.

I wonder how far back you would have said if I hadn't give you a timescale... ?

You probably mean Utd sang it when they came to BP in the seventies.

It's a moot point. I was illustrating that it's a bit silly to take football songs literally. The "shithole" song is a great way of taking the wind out of the sails of opposition fans. I and many others find it funny. It doesn't mean that's what we actually think.

First home game I'll be checking if all the lads and lasses walking down Sheepfoot Lane actually have smiles upon their faces -does that pass your pendantry test?

One time it's amusing, every time it's not and do you honestly think it 'takes the wind out of someone's sales' if a large portion if home fans think it's pathetic then what do the oppo think?

By the way love the fact you credited a utd song to our fans twice and were called out on it now it's moot!

I am proud of being from Oldham. I’ve lived elsewhere. I’ve never felt at home elsewhere so I’m back after 9 years living in big cities. And glad. And proud. I was always proud of the self-depreciation along with pride the town had. But in recent years the rest of Oldham seems to have lost pride in itself. It’s weird. And it looks like the club is following suit. This not ok. Some random scouse blokes on the train back back from Northampton were saying to some of our fans ‘Never be ashamed of where you’re from’ and they’re so right! I know Oldham isn’t utopia, but having followed Latics around the country, nowhere is.

I’m not going to sit back and be happy while some mediocre footballer calls my home town a shit hole, as if that’s an ok thing to say. It’s not.

I totally agree with this but then 1st home of the season Gerrard will be probably on the pitch when 100s of Oldham fans sing that Oldhams a shit hole.

The only fans in the country with zero pride of where they are from but constantly spout about how great a set of fans they are because they show up. You won't hear any other fans sing down their home town no matter what. It doesn't exactly sound like they are behind the team? Oh and it isn't funny.

The whole attitude around the club and the town has to change.

  5. Its probably the same gamble we took first time around, Not been playing first team football but plenty for Everton reserves for a good while, still a bit of an unknown quantity.

except this time he's 26 and has experience behind him here and at a bigger club playing first team football. Worth the risk!

The Gardner story is true. Teams from France want him, as do Wigan, Portsmouth and Blackburn. Jack Byrne wants to leave.  We do want Baxter, but so do loads of other clubs, including Burton, who are managed by Clough...

Well we ain't getting him then! Championship for a better wage or Oldham? Hmmmm.

Friday last week is before this week, unless that needs confirming by someone who spends all day on here as well?

You might want to specify timelines first time around. If I've missed it first time I apologise but I don't recall you specifying a day. Then to say well as of Friday but that might of changed spreads major doubts on the story.

    FFS I give up.

I now agree with you that we were excellent in those last eight games and played really well in all of them, we should have won the lot.

    Trolling, even nicer.

Not really!  you made up an argument/point of view and attributed it to me falsely. You also said you gave up but here we still are.

No money to put petrol in the mowers last week from what I have been informed.

Feeling within the club is there is less money readily available than under Corney and far less communication from the new leader.

And yet we just painted the Chaddy End?

I always trust an OWTBs source with a minus 9 member rating. Theyve always been so on the money in the past .

You maybe right Palmer, has there been something endemic at this club for years about players under different managers not being able to lift themselves for the vast majority games?

I think it's been mentioned a few times recently BP1960 but this club thanks to way it has been run for the last decade has a huge losing mentality running through it. If you have a boss/owner who employs arse kissing underlings who are only looking out for themselves and not the club's best interest pubicly telling the world that we are already punching above our weight then what do you aim for? We're already over achieving aren't we?

Corney, Barry etc have so much to answer for not just financial and It's the first thing that Lemmy and Wellens have to address. The mentality has to change!
