  1. I am going to watch Fleetwood Town vs Frickley on Saturday if im not too hungover from my mates wedding on Friday, i would love it if Fleetwood made it to the first round proper and were drawn against the latics, Fleetwood have just signed George Santos the ex bindipper.

    As we`ve got a free Saturday I`ll be goin to see Southport v Boston in the 3rd Qualifying Round to see how Chris Lever is gettin on.Not sure what Tezza Smith is up to these days though as has long since been released by Port.

  2. City use Cheltenham like a farm club..... Myrie-Williams who needs games, Brooker last season when they need to egt him fit etc.. it does both clubs favours so I doubt there are any fees involved...

    Would be surprised if Williams didnt end up back at Chelts now they have a new manager....

    Indeed.Though they`ve now signed a certain Josh Low for RW

  3. Just read the match report in the NOTW which quotes Ronnie Moore saying the refs assistant got the decision wrong for Tranmere`s disallowed goal and the referee being unable to overrule him.

    Correct me if I`m wrong or if the ruling has changed but I was under the impression that referees have the authority to overrule their assistant`s decisions.Didn`t the ref at Bloomfield Road overrule the linesman`s decision to disallow Wellens`long range goal for offside a couple of seasons ago?

  5. Not the brightest are they?

    "I hope he/they die(s)" is among the well used phrases on that board. You'd have thought sentiments like that are grown out of by the time most people have left school. Everyone appears to be referred to as a c*** as well - pleasant!

    Makes you really appreciate owtb, doesn't it?

    Indeed.Hoping someone dies is not only a juvenile remark to make but also in bad taste IMO.Now which minority set of fans were heard chanting "Die,die Ricketts.Ricketts die!"again? :ohno:

  6. Starting Eleven on Saturday?

    Here is my suggestion....

    Stella

    Becks

    Carling

    Grolsh

    Carlsberg

    Budweiser

    Corona

    Tennets Super

    Special Brew

    Holsten Pils

    Staropramen

    And I would go for a classic 4-4-2 formation.

    ........................:drinking: .......................

    :drinking::drinking::drinking::drinking:

    :drinking::drinking::drinking::drinking:

    ................:drinking::drinking: ...............

    Obviously, Stella is the keeper as "nothing beats Stella". We have some hard cases in midfield with Tennents Super and Speical Brew while the light bodies of Corona and Budweiser should add a bit of fizz if things go flat during the game.

    PS I'd send Ayingerbrau out on loan to a non-league club.

    With me being slightly biased towards the Czechs, I would personally have Pilsner Urquell up front in place of Holsten Pils and Budvar would get the nod over Budweiser everytime!Budweiser,pah!Just a watered down immitation of the real thing!

  7. As mentioned,I thought the Left Back looked ok for the first 20-25 mins then got continually beaten by their right winger time after time due to lack of pace and anticipation.His first touch wasn`t the best either.Seemed to look more like a Centre half than Left Back IMO.

    The left winger that came on during the second half looked like he had somethin about him and defo worth another look at.

    Phillips looked class,with skill and pace to burn.Get him signed up asap!!!!

    A further point,Taylor looked far more effective when switched to his natural position at Right Wing rather than filling in at Left Back.Admittedly it was in a pre-season friendly against a mid to lower reach League Two side but to me it was a clear indication of where he should be playing by utilising his strengths.

  8. Ernie.You lived the dream.For that you and your family must be so proud.The impact you had on fellow fans in their admiration of you is clear from all the tributes and messages here.Players come,players go.Many of which are forgotten.Not you Ernie.You will be remembered fondly for your will and desire and genuine love for the game.For that,I am very proud and grateful to have seen you play for our team.

    R.I.P Ernie

  9. Slavia Prague & Southport.

    Noticed one or two mentioned Espanyol.I went to a game there a couple of years ago against Racing & it was the dullest match I`ve ever had the misfortune to go and watch.The match was played at such a slow tempo with no attempts made all match to try and entertain the suffering crowd.It was only a meaningless mid-table affair,but after that you can stick your Spanish togger up your hoop!

    Eintracht Frankfurt have also been metioned,whom I try and keep an eye out for.That said I now look out for S.V Hamburg`s scores as well as I went to a U.E.F.A Cup game last season against Liteks Lovech(some Bulgarian pig farmers)and was mightily impressed with their brand spanking new stadium and also prior to kick off they had some guy stood on top of what can only be described as some kind of fire engine crane with a platform on top.He was slowly hoisted up by some mechanical device to close to the summit of the stadium roof and proceeded to orchestrate the home fans chanting with the aid of some booming background music,until they were whipped up to a frenzy! Those kerayzee Germans!

  10. Seconded.All the best Gaz.You`ve been a professional in the true sense of the word in your time at Latics.A fitting end today to one of my favourite Latics players of recent times.

    Good luck to you and the Dons.Yet another Scottish team`s results to look out for with ex-`tic players playing up there!

  11. Yep,I wont be sorry when/if JP leaves for pastures new.A player with limited abilities who was better utilised in backs to the wall matches away from home,as mentioned the Everton game for example.Very similar to his predecessor Rocastle who IMO also was not good enough for us.(evidently not good enough for Port Vale either!) :omg:

  12. GK-Scott Flinders(out of contract),Norm as back-up

    LB-Stuart Giddings,Lomax

    RB-Eardley

    CB-Gregan,Hazell,Thompson,Stam

    RM-Taylor

    LM-Jonathan Forte,Livermore

    CM-Jarrett,Allott,McDonald,Fabian Yantoro,Paul Murray

    F-Davies,Leon Clarke,Jamie Ward(if Chesterfield dont come up),Hughes

    OUT-Kalala,Liddell
