The Hornet (which is a Hungry Horse) is a new place that only opened this year, it's near Kingsway Retail Park, directly opposite Gordon Rigg's Garden Centre. It does decent food and has Sky Sports. It's about 5 minutes in a taxi from the town centre.http://www.hungryhorse.co.uk/pubs/hornet-rochdale
get in the kingsway hotel over the road yer big puff and sup some Sam smiths

Thought matt chambers had it right when he tweeted -
@Matt_Chambers_: Imagine paying to watch this. Like seeing a tired bloke pushing a heavy box across a warehouse.
@Matt_Chambers_: Let's not bother with a third one lads.

Cheers. Don't like Yorkshire chips, though ! Cooked in fat...

I'm expecting a day out in Yorkshire will mean a day off from my usual healthy Mediterranean style diet tomorrow and involve a burger and chips - is there a 'posh' burger type place like an Almost Famous/Solitos type place in the city centre reasonably near to the Matilda St car park ?
-
Coming by car and was hoping to park in or near the city centre, get something nice to eat in the city centre and avoid all the boozy football fans, and then walk to the ground. Any tips ?

Never liked Hopkins. Horrrible to watch. Runs away, turns his back, holds, hugs....be funny to see him try and run from Kovalev.

Had some good followings at Stockport too. The Eyres late free kick winner stands out. We were give two stands that day and fans came running on to the pitch to celebrate the goal from both the terrace behind the goal and the seats in the side stand.

Remember the Blackpool games in the late 90s / early 2000s when we'd have fans all over the home ends.
They'll need to give us more than 1200

Idon't ecided not to, slagging off the team fine (I have little time for Dale) ... slagging off my home town (I'd rather keep to myself what I think of Oldham) and having to listen to all this crap at the game is something I don't want to do.
I simply support a team not a town, as do many others I know.
Deary me. I was born in Rochdale, half me family are from Rochdale, and I feel no real animosity to the Rochdale AFC or Rochdale the town, but come derby day I'll be joining in with it all, no doubt.
Lighten up. Fair enough if you dont feel comfortable joining in, but dont let it put you off getting behind your team.

The stands always look fuller than they actually are.

Michael Katsidis training at Oldham Boxing this week. Will be surprised if Coyle beats him. Love his aggression and warrior style.

There was a big St George cross with an oldham badge on it painted on the side of the Queens pub just past the hospital. Not really a mural in my book, but good to see all the same when driving past. The pub shut a few year ago and I think the building got repainted at the same time.
When I did a bit of work a JD Williams in Briar mill Shaw in 97 they had a huge mural on the canteen wall. Ian Marshall arms aloft I think. Wonder if it is still there...?

I didn't attend this one but the Chron have sent people in the past and the fella who runs the club is always in the paper so I think he's on good terms with them, so they may have had someone there.
I was told tonight that one of the Fury family kids was fighting hence why Tyson, Hughie and Peter Fury were all there. Crolla is a sound lad and has been to a few of the club's shows. Eddie Chambers and Michael Gomez also there.

Friday just gone lad.

Not just me then. Couldn't find it on TV. Tried to watch it on the i pad but hate the things and gave up quickly ....will dust off the laptop then.

Paul Scholes, the Furys and Anthony Crolla, amongst others, at my club's show in Oldham on Friday handing out the trophies.

Didn't seem like a massive punch to me, but I am hard.

My dad goes to Latics and Dale on alternate weekends. He goes to some away games for both, and keeps up with both teams. I'd say he's a proper supporter of both, especially considering neither have been above L1 for 18 years. Sums up the 'rivalry' really - you wouldn't find many other derby rivals sharing supporters.
He says there's never any reaction at Spotland when Latics scores are read out, but definitely is if Bury are losing.
It doesn't sum up anything other than your Dad's own preferences.
To the oracles like pukka, etc : Each club has thousands of fans and every single one of those fans will have their own view and will probably change that view depending upon what time of the :censored:ing day it is.
Looking forward to it myself and hope it will be a good atmosphere with no trouble from fans or the robocops.
-
I didn't watch the fight, but I presume Jim Watt was co-commentator ? I am :censored:ing sick of him.
Watched Tavoris Cloud's fight from the weekend on youtube v some Russian fella called Beterbiev.....now he will give most guys in the light-heavies serious problems.

If anyone has the programme for us v Tranmere at home last year that they don't mind selling then please let me know.

It's a ridiculous thread title started minutes before the kit was available that seems to have negatively skewed the thinking of many.
Shirts have certainly been available before kick off before. Some you like, some you don't. This one doesn't bother me either way tbh.
The one that's just come into this household is probably the poorest quality shirt I've ever seen. But it doesn't have the big FILA logos all over it so I'll cope.
I missed the word ' not ' out of my post. Should have read ' Can't remember ever a new home strip NOT being available before the start of the season.
Weird that we're having to wait until the end of Aug to be able to buy it.
-
I can't be arsed reading the whole board. Has there been a problem? Can't remember ever a new home strip being available before the start of the season.
-
Any news on when the home kit is available to buy? My lad's bday next week. Assumed it would have been out by end of July?
-
Crawford V Gamboa was a very good fight last night. Two of the best bang at it.
No ticket for Dale away? Don't worry.......

Wondering if I made the right decision bringing my 6 yr old to this game. Hope there's no trouble. Nothing more scary when you're a young lad at the game hearing and seeing grown men being really aggressive.
