  1. I am on the fence, but I will say a few people at the gym I go to and where Carl did his last session before the Groves fight said he wasn't 100% at that time...these are people who've watched him train before over in Sheffield. They thought he looked poorly. Although if that was the case I'd have thought Carl might have rolled out that excuse during his 10min post fight ramble.

No chance of me putting more than a cheeky fiver on this fight.

  2. Just wasn't the ending we wanted.

Awful for Silva as at 38 his career's over (although there's talk online that some in his camp are claiming docs say 3 - 6 months recovery !!?). And awful for the fans as we wanted to see what would happen if Silva didn't dick about.

For me though, the way Weidman dominated in the first round he's proven to me that he's the man to rightly knock one of the all time greatest off the top. Sonnen could take Silva down but couldn't then do much ground and pound - Wiedman different story. He takes Silva down and then hurts him.

  3. Brilliant result last night that. Maidana just kept walk through him and roughing Broner up.

Glad that cocky, hype job been exposed and the fact it was a guy like Maidana who did it made it a bit sweeter.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Always liked Maidana...and seen Broner struggle a couple of times before so had a feeling someone would come along and smash him up.

As much as I am happy with the result, Broner deserves some credit for that tonight. Took a lot of massive left hooks.

  4. I presume our traditional style four floodlights will disappear if this development ever happens....that will be a sad day in a way. Living in the area you don't really bat an eyelid at them but every now and then, especially when lit in winter, I look to them and I find it evokes memories of mad nights like Scarborough 89 and Southampton later that season with nearly 19000 packed in and the place rocking. The floodlights are old fashioned now but in a way quite apt as that's how I see the club and the town at the moment...

  5. I know it was a couple of years ago but both Matthew Hatton and Ryan Rhodes got to 12 rounds against Canelo, so I was never convinced he would seriously test Mayweather, just because he beat Trout convincingly.

Ghalahad v Jezza was a decent fight on c5 last night. Don't see 'Barry' testing Quigg or Frampton though.

  6. Summat about that Booth that grates on me. Him and Haye deserve each other.

Andy Lee looked like he was going to be the next big thing at one point didn't he. Touted to be world champ but then lost to Vera in a cracking fight. Only lost one more since to Chavez but doesn't look like a top 5 world fighter. Think he'd be a good fight for Barker. But Murray and Macklin too strong and powerful for Barker and Lee if you ask me.
