  1. Was in the Forest end the other night and was very jealous of the atmosphere. Always a good craic at Orient though. Hopefully we can repeat last year with a good sing song in the pub watching Scummers get beat first.

I'm sure United won when we last played at Orient, and the TV screen broke half way through the second half so everyone had to watch the rugby instead.

Does anyone know if that pub (can't remember the name of it) serves food? Would be nice to tuck into a meal, have a couple of drinks and watch Fabregas thump in a stunning volley to win the game in the last minute (before Hughesy does exactly the same thing just over a couple of hours later)...

  2. just to point out that i thought it was a great atmosphere at forest

Does that mean you're not going to take it down to Orient? To be honest, I'm only really a drum fan when it's used as the intro to the song we sing normally after we score (though it's seemingly starting to get used more in general)...otherwise it just seems to kill off chants.

But let's not get into all that again...

  3. It seems to me that the club have dropped a ball on the seat reservation system...apparently if tickets are bought in advance then the seats will be reserved, but if bought on the day then fans must find unreserved seating.

Previously, it's just been a free-for-all on cup games, which although annoying for ST holders who found themselves displaced, still meant everyone knew where they could and couldn't sit. I can imagine a scenario unfolding now in which some seats saying 'reserved' are reserved and some aren't (as ST holders haven't bought their ticket)...leading to non-ST holders looking for unreserved seats being repeatedly displaced.

Obviously not a major issue, but if the club want to satisfy disgruntled ST holders who want their own seat for the game, just make all the reserved seats actually reserved and anyone paying on the day has to find a seat without a sticker on it, just like they normally would.

  4. West Ham use that one a lot - starting with against Reading, when they remarked that a young forward tried to have sex with a woman, she said, "No, no no" , following I might add a case in which (un)said chap was exonerated. I've been trying for a while to think of applications for us.

Yes I admit it's not entirely original...Sunderland used it for Nyron Nosworthy as well. Still, I like it and it could be worth a sing song on Saturday.

  5. I was indeed and he's oafc_ok - nice to meet you!

LET'S PRETEND WE'RE SITTING DOWN!

That's set the benchmark for singing - nothing less will do, although the acoustics at Orient are nothing like they were last night.

oafc_ok won't be there on Saturday, so I shouldn't miss any of the action.

Always good to put faces to names...

  6. Diego were you the bloke in the long sleeved blue shirt with his wife sat in the centre block on the row from the back then, who went out to defend the guy behind (is he on here as well?)?

If so, good on you, and also I was sitting (or standing), right next to you!

  7. I don't want Shez out, but Ricketts is a steaming pile of crap. So what if he gets a few flick ons? He's striker, why isn't he scoring? It's that simple. Why hasn't he been properly dropped when we have a enthusiastic lad with such potential in Matty Wolfenden crying to get a spell in the first team rather than play a few odd games here and there. I think players need to be picked based of motivation and performance rather than reputation. You can say Davies has been equally bad as Ricketts but you'd be wrong. Davies has scored more, he looks more dangerous when he gets the ball near the opponents box, he shoots. Ricketts might have scored the chances Davies missed today but the fact is Ricketts wasn't there to miss the chance.

I don't think firing Sheridan will help matters although I have questioned his tactical ability. It was his lack of experience (in not seeing where we were weak last season in January and reinforcing what was a tired squad) which cost us promotion, League 1 title was at our feet when we were 1-0 against Millwall at home and that's when our title hopes went down the swanny river.

Please Shez, unleash the Wolf....5 straight starts and let's see what he can really do!

I think he's chatting a load of ginger snap.

A few points to answer to...

He's not scoring because he's the guy who gets the flick ons...if the defence continue to hoof it up there's very little Ricketts can do with his back to goal 30 yards away. When we play on the floor he looks more like scoring (a la Walsall). You can't expect him to take the ball down with four defenders between him and the goal (one of which is normally holding him as he's collected an aerial ball), skin them all and rifle it in. He's doing all he can with the hoofball that the defence seem intent on playing.

Wolfy - well we tried the Wolfy/Davies combination last week and struggled. The high balls were still being pumped forward but there was noone to take them down and redistribute the ball to the midfield/other striker. If we're going to play long ball then Wolfy is way too small to be the target man.

'Ricketts might have scored the chances Davies missed today but the fact is Ricketts wasn't there to miss the chance' - well the glaring opportunity today came when Davies rounded the keeper and managed to miss the target...he only got the ball because of Rico's superb pass through. The reason he wasn't there to miss the chance was because he's the one who set up the chance in the first place.

He was far and away our best player today.

  8. Call me old fashioned, but I kinda like my centre forwards to have more than one shot a game and last longer than 40 mins.

If Eardley/Hazell/Gregan/Trotman continue to thump the long ball up in the air towards him, the best he can do is flick it on/hold it up (which he does very well). Who creates chances for him? Nobody. If Liddell or Taylor could get a cross to beat the defender on the edge of the box then he may stand a chance. Davies isn't going to set him up - he's too greedy and on the rare occasions on which he tries to pass he loses the ball.

  9. For those who recognise that he is a quality player, and that if Davies had the same nous and an iota of positional sense we'd be scoring a helluva lot more goals at the moment.

I'm fed up of the idiots who hurl abuse at him every time he 'loses' the ball, i.e. holds it up or flicks it on, waiting for someone, anyone, to for one time take a gamble and make a run.

I was flabbergasted to hear the jeers today when he was announced 'Star Man' - he was excellent today.

  10. I can understand why you would say that but we have a lot of Games coming up and then the busy christmas period.

With no signs from sheridan or the players of turning this around after christmas will be far too late to get a new manager this is the time to ring in the changes and get rid of dead wood starting with JS.

Have you learnt nothing from the last few years? We need continuity. Chopping and changing does not work.

If Craig Davies had successfully tapped in the empty net he had in the first half and we'd gone on to win today you would not be calling for his head. It's a petty, fickle, knee-jerk reaction to demand him to be sacked. It's a good job TTA have more sense than you do.

  11. Sorry I disagree with you there, I dont want to sack Sheridan, But I do think that Ricketts is Lazy and useless, the guy strolls around the pitch like a superstar he has no enthusiasm to play football he is jusr here for the money and with a 3 year deal he will certainly get it, Southend had it right when they kicked him out on his fat arse

Best player on the pitch today by a country mile. Won everything and put some good balls through to Davies, who wasted them. He held it up brilliantly, but noone could be arsed to make a run.

  12. Well I got slated last time but this is more relevant now!

My vote, after seeing him on the touchline today doing nothing looking clueless, coming out with the same post match comments and not having the balls to ring in the changes is OUT! Sorry folks.

Don't be so ridiculous. Things need sorting but sacking the manager is the last thing we need. When will people start to realise that a knee-jerk reaction and continuing chopping and changing the manager doesn't work?

Anyway, it's not the manager, it's the players.

The people who want Shez out are the same idiots who think Ricketts is lazy, useless and does nothing for the team.
