Just on a side note from the match.
Did you see how many stewards were in the Chaddy End? As well as that, how they were lined up down the sides as though they needed to segregate them from the "home fans"
I don't think they got the memo these were home fans!!!
I thought the same. There seemed to be more stewards in the Chaddy than the whole of the RRE!

Weird, has he come in for a few weeks
"At a Board meeting held this week, a recruitment process was agreed upon and will be followed over the coming weeks. The Board wants to ensure the process is thorough and that the merits of all candidates are properly considered."
The appointment of a new manager could several weeks, therefore Redders could be here for a while. As the only job he seems to be doing at the moment is radio commentary with BBC Radio Leeds and talkSPORT, then why not help out a old friend.

Any ideas of who the applicants are?
According to Suzanne Geldard in the Oldham Times: "Latics are understood to have been flooded with applications for the Boundary Park hotseat."

We need a manager with a system and experience of winning things. We don't have time for learning on the job. These easy games will look great on any record but we need a manager who knows they can get going when things are tough.
A number of years ago Latics appointed an experienced manager, in his mid forties, with promotions on his cv. At the time I thought that was a good appointment! It was Dave Penney.
Whoever we appoint, it'll still be a gamble.

An experienced, but out of work, coach in his forties looking for his first managerial job! Sound familiar?

I'd be happy with any of those three, Mellon would probably be my preferred choice as I'm presuming he's local, has worked with one or two who we have already and has experience of going straight in with a team at the bottom and getting them in to the play offs.
Mellon used to live in Blackpool. Don't know whether he still does.

23rd really isn't it - Southend are above us but for the 10pt deduction.
And they'll be above us in spite of it soon..
23rd!!!
I'd forgotten about that!

Post match from Unsworth.
Another one we should have won....
I wonder whether it'll be any different from his comments following the 3 nil defeat to Bromley a year ago?

Rochdale in 6th currently with double our amount of points, even part time Dorking above us and currently 21st, a year since he took charge.
After 9 games last season we were 14th with 11 points.

Strange they haven't brought a midfielder in on an emergency loan given we literally don't have anyone who can pass a football when Gardner gets injured.

Yes I should have waited 2 games until he's had a full calendar year to put his stamp on the team
DU was appointed on 20 September last year, and so there's 4 more matches to go until his 1st anniversary! By then Latics will have played 10 games, which I think is a reasonable time to judge how this season is going.
As such my answer, to a poorly drafted poll, is yes for now, but maybe no - but hopefully yes - in 3 weeks time!!
People used to call me indecisive, but now I'm not so sure!

It's their first appointment, they'll stick with him until it becomes untenable (which is probably a couple more bad results away).
I wonder how much has got to do with the fact that DU signed a 3 year contract last September? How much would it cost to sack him? Did anyone think of a break clause in his contract?

York City have sacked manager Michael Morton.
